Jeremy grew up in a small farm town in Ohio  He started shooting at 8 yrs old with a lever action Marlin Gold Trigger. He spent four Years USMC and was awarded the company high shot.  He also spent five years riding bulls, and worked several years as a security agent for a heavy metal band. Paul G. Markel has worn many hats during his lifetime. He has been a U.S. Marine, Police Officer, Professional Bodyguard, and Small Arms and Tactics Instructor. Mr. Markel has been writing professionally for law enforcement and firearms periodicals for nearly twenty years with hundreds and hundreds of articles in print. Paul is a regular guest on nationally syndicated radio talk shows and subject matter expert in firearms training and use of force.  Mr. Markel has been teaching safe and effective firearms handling to students young and old for decades and has worked actively with the 4H Shooting Sports program. Paul holds numerous instructor certifications in multiple disciplines; nonetheless, he is and will remain a dedicated Student of the Gun.

Jarrad Markel

Not just another pretty face, Jarrad Markel has experience and training beyond his years.  Jarrad has been training to be a fighter since elementary school when he first learned the art of collegiate wrestling.  Now skilled in Jujitsu, Judo, Muay Thai, Sambo, the Way of the Fighting Pistol and Fighting Rifle, Jarrad is a well-rounded, tactical athlete with several professional MMA fights under his belt.  More than a brute, Jarrad has brains as well. He is the lead editor and videographer for Student of the Gun and works directly for Think On! Productions creating a wide variety of video material. In addition, Markel is a skilled webmaster, building material for the Internet side of the house.

Carol News: Crazy happy about my progress with www.jeffrynutrition.com.   ** I said "nutritionist" on the show and I think Jef is more of a "nutrition coach."  Sorry!  I'm doing some Ultra Low Carb but not completely.  We are working to find my upper limits and I CAN have a cheeseburger!!  YAY!  Jef coaching me through al of it.  I'm  off sweeteners of any kind and dropping weight!   Seemed to be water weight initially but still losing. Nice progress so far.  I highly recommend you find a coach!!

FROM THE COMMUNITY:Petia via email My name is Petia and I have been following your work on fat2fitq.com since end of last year. I found your your podcast searching for low carb diets, I think. The first podcast I watch was with Dr. Ede. I then began my journey with nutritional ketosis.  I started nutritional ketosis at the end of November last year.  I felt very well initially, best of all the lack of hunger impressed me. However, the past few months have been struggling. Meaning I am not losing weight, I actually feel that I am gaining fat. And then I watched your podcast with Kieffer, he is great by the way, so much knowledge. Kieffer is a star. I read Carb night . My CN journey began three weeks ago and I am enjoying food I have not eaten for years. I am not sure if  it is working for me. I have been trying to pay attention to my protein intake. Also trying to change exercise routine into weight lifting, but it is hard without mentor. So, Carol, thank you for inspiring me, you seem so jolly , lovely and a good person. Brad Wolfram: I picked up you podcast from FRN and have listen to a few shows. Most recently your recap of Paleo in Austin (where I live), RC Patel and AJ. I am a 50 yr old 5 time marathoner who let himself get distracted by work and bad habits and am working on dropping another 20 lbs.  I listen to your shows on my long weekend walks.  I get out early while still dark during the week so i don't use ear buds then.  Enjoying your podcasts. Micky Francis joins us today to chat with me about what it is like for the average person to navigate all the new science coming out in health and wellness.  Micky is a new listener to F2FHQ and found us through our show with John Kiefer.  We are going to recap some of our journey in this show but also hit on some key elements for us in staying informed and motivated when there is a monsoon of information swirling around us! Micky Francis is an Athens resident who has been serving the Athens/Watkinsville and Madison areas as a Fitness Professional for almost 7 years.  He has worked with everyone from local celebrities to busy moms, writers, teachers, young athletes, accountants and lawyers.  He is well known for helping people drop inches and lose body fat.   He uses a variety of training methods and keeps the workouts ever changing and interesting, unless the client is training for a show, or sport which requires a specific approach.

Hi Carol! I just wanted to let you know that I'm doing great on Carb Nite so far. Tomorrow it will officially be a week and I've already lost 6.1 lbs. I cut back on my workouts last week as well. Holy cats! I actually have to go shopping for new work clothes (size 6) as my other clothes are just hanging off me. -Angela Neale

Angela and I have traded more emails about how well CarbNite is going for her.  She is proof that we should continue learning and trying new things.  I applaud her for stepping outside of her comfort zone to try something new that might even sound a little unconventional.  Angela is getting more recovery time and learning more about how foods are affecting her efforts.  GO ANGELA!!  Congrats on your progress! Sandy Drummond from Facebook and Fitbit Group: Just listened to the latest episode with Kefir. Ahahha more confusion lol You are struggling with that last 10 lbs correct? Have you ever heard of JJ Virgin? She talks about how if you are sensitive to a food your weight could be from the inflammation these foods cause.   It's a tough diet to follow. I fell off the wagon when I was training for a half marathon while on the diet and felt was losing too much ( can't believe those words are coming from my mouth).  You eliminate gluten, eggs, dairy, soy, corn, peanuts and sugar/sweeteners. Think this could be your issue?

James R. Sanders, MFP:  Carol!!! I found your podcast through FRN and finally got caught up! I'm a gun guy, a machinist, a musician, a foody and a beer lover. I'm 29 and my fitness and nutrition is more or less maintenance at this point. I'm 5foot9 and when I was 18 I weighed 120lbs, I was tiny!! It took about 7 years to hit 150lbs and considered myself in great shape. 2 years ago I hit 170lbs and had to change something to prevent the 30 year old landslide. My journey is the opposite of most of your listeners but gaining weight, healthy weight, is a struggle all the same. I love the show, good info and interesting ideas! I'm not sure if I'll keep up with this MFP thing, but we'll see!!!
