Due to random life things, I fell temporarily behind on the podcast. I just listened to episode 313. I must say, while I will continue to rate the show at 5 stars, I now have put A-A-Ron into the same category as that short angry dude... Yankee something-or-other. I know you exist, but don't really care to hear your opinions anymore, as you seem to have taken leave of your senses. I am guessing that AOC is your newest spank-bank centerfold?

----WHERE SHAWN SHOULD MOVE----

Rob R.

He may think about northern Indiana.  There are larger cities across the north (South Bend, Fort Wayne, Merriville), Chicago is not that far away and Indianapolis is centrally located.

The weapon laws are good, no registration or mag limits, lifetime carry permits (open or concealed) that have reciprocity with 32 states, automatic knives allowed, carry in state parks, no weapons signs not enforced, and can carry in liquor establishments.

I'm sure there are some negatives with Indiana but those are the things you discussed.

R. L.R.

Jacob W

Move to Oklahoma!  Lower property taxes and lower cost of living than Texas.  We have constitutional carry, whereas Texas 'no guns allowed'-signs have force of law.  Plus, you don't have to listen to the Texans circle jerk about how much better Texas is.

NAME CHANGE

I'll put this at the beginning as you always read through the letter then go oops. I don't have a problem with you talking about this on air, just leave out my name as these aren't only my life events to tell.

Aaron asked if you giving the number out has helped anyone.  It has been very important to me over these last 7 months.

1)  As you know my son tried to commit suicide on New Year's of this year and I will admit I didn't realize the signs before it happened even though I knew something was off but didn't connect the dots before it was too late.

He checked into an inpatient program for a week, is now on antidepressants (for now), and going to therapy once a week.

He still has thoughts about it from time to time so it is constantly in the back of my mind. I don't let it rule my life and thoughts but it will probably always be there.

2) I had wrote in earlier about my friend getting a divorce and he had mentioned suicide and I asked him if I could hold onto his firearms till things cleared up while we had dinner one night.  He said he was fine and I let it go but the next night I went over to his house and asked him if I could take them and he agreed. About a week later he called to thank me because he had a hard time the following weekend and was glad they were not there.

3) A few months ago my wife informed me that my best friend of 37+ years hit on her while she was picking up a check for a fundraiser.

I went over there in a few days to talk to him about it. I'm not going into details but basically he has no idea why he did it and understood if I didn't want to be in his life anymore. I knew there was more to it so kept talking about life, etc with him and what was going on with him. In the beginning of talking he had mention going away and not coming back, after a few hours I left but this time I did not take no for an answer, I left with his firearms.

Each time I made sure that they had the numbers to call and text in case they needed to talk. I have expressed my graditude to you before about talking about suicide and it is a issue that people need to be more open about discussing. Thanks again and keep up the great work.

Hey guys great podcast. First time long time. Wanted to get your opinions on the Crimson trace cwl 202 and Crimson Trace Universal Rail Master 420 Lumen Tactical Weapon Light. My use will be mostly for hunting but want something that would work for a defensive mounted light if I ever needed it. Thanks and keep up the great show.

Hello...I recently purchased a stripped Double Star A-2 carry handle upper receiver. I'm looking to build a mid-length upper, but looking at possible barrel options, most 16" barrels have M4 feed ramps. The A-2 upper, on the other hand is a rifle upper with no feed ramps.

My question for the group is has anyone successfully built a firearm with a rifle upper and a barrel with M4 feed ramps?

Zac C

Could somebody smarter than me please get a bot to listen to all of wls and then get it to write its own wls show? It would have to be hilarious

Lupe F

Hello guys my question is what is better bullet weight for defensive/duty use of a 9mm Glock 17? I work in an urban area where possible threats can either be inside vehicles, or very close range around bad breath distances. I am currently using 147grn hornady xtp. Thank you guys and the media is the enemy!

9mm Striker fire vs 9mm Hammer fire Da/Sa vs 9mm revolver. What are each of your preferences and why? To frame the question, apply to full size pistols and 3inch 7 round mid frame revolver all of them as an EDC

Have learned so much listing to all of you and am having fun doing it. Thank you all for a Great show ....except Savage ...he is a commie ...lol

Alexis Texas

I realized the other day while loading my M&P 17 round mags that with a standard baseplate my 17 rounder can fit 18 rounds. Do you think this is ok/safe to carry? My gun cycles it without issue and I don’t have any magazine restrictions so it’s legal, but is it smart to do this in a magazine that is not designed for this?

Thanks

All hail the cult leader and his #SSB

Mike M

Does anyone have any experience/ opinions on the desert eagle 1911’s? Checked a few out and they seem pretty nicely made. Had a really nice trigger on them.

Jordan F

I've got a Marlin 1895SBL in 45-70, would like to put an optic on it. Don't plan on reaching out much farther than 100 yards, she's just a range queen that'll enjoy some time out in the sun now and then. Simple red dot, or ?? Also how would one sight in a lever gun, same principle as a standard semi/bolt gun?

Dalton D

Hey guys! I was curious what your take was on kids having toy guns (such as nerf guns, cap guns, etc.) I grew up playing with them and turned out as a perfectly responsible gun owner, but it’s slightly unnerving seeing kids run around shooting each other with toys that look fairly similar to real guns. I feel this could breed bad habits and cause accidents. I’m torn on the issue and was curious of your thoughts. Thanks and i love the show!

I love WLS, it has made me so happy to be able to turn on a new episode twice a week
so I wanted to give back to you guys and for me to do that I had to come up with a very
good way to do this. There are a couple things I could do, but in the end I wanted it to be
about Jeremy as he was one of the reasons I am wrighting this. So Jeremy what
you need to do is read the first l letter of each sentence and make it words.

This show is fantastic. It’s my favorite podcast to listen to while driving. Sometimes I laugh so hard I spill my beer.

If you want to hear what the cast will sound like in 15 years, set your playback to 1/2 speed and listen to the Intro. The obesity, diabetes, and heart disease really has taken its toll, and is sure to make you laugh.

I also attached a picture of me enjoying some #SSB at a coffee shop I don’t really like, but man the SSB was good. I named it Shawn.

----START ANTI AARON POSTS----

Randy  S

A multi part question for Aaron. First are Terrorist considered “the enemy”? If yes then look up the definition of terrorist. ter·ror·ist

/ˈterərəst/

noun

1.

a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

"four commercial aircraft were hijacked by terrorists"

That is what the Media is doing. There for jack wagon you are wrong

Ernie K

Aaron is wrong. You know how we know? Because he keeps yelling his opinion devoid of anything backing it.

And savage has TDS so bad he’s going to grow an orange toupee because TDS is a spiteful condition.

Nick C

Aaron is wrong, the media is the enemy. Also Nick is wrong the best ice cream flavor is butter pecan. Also Shawn and Jeremy are right and Aaron should try and be the American Hong Kong thinks we all are.

Christopher W

Aaron you pick the dumbest hills to die on. You take someone's arguments and put your spin on it and fight that argument all day like you're getting somewhere proving a point. But, you make about as much progress as a dog chasing its own tail. You've got to quit using straw man arguments like that. It's understandable that you don't like the rhetoric of "the media is the enemy", it's easy to see that you worry about that because you believe it could create violence against the media and undue violence would be wrong. But to try and just blame the listeners for watching or listening to the news is also wrong. You're right to say ignorance is the enemy, but nobody is an expert on everything and most people don't have the free time that you do. Not everyone is concerned about fact checks, for the most part they don't have the time or energy to be. So when a majority of the news spouts one thing and chastises the one major network that doesn't these low information voters/people will tend to believe it because "well CNN and MSNBC both agree so it must be right". We as people who defend and stand for freedoms need to recognize that those giant news conglomerates are a major issue for our freedoms because reality is perception is reality and by having all these different voices screaming the same thing the change a majority of the perception, and because of the way they lean that is inherently dangerous to us and will lead to harm to us as freedom loving pro 2a Americans.

Brian D

Aaron's never been right

He argues for the sake of arguing just like a true progressive

Adam B

The media is the enemy of this country! Just like with keeping race issues alive in our country. When that’s all they talk about that’s all people look for when shit happens! My step daughter is mixed and we live in a small country town called Elizabeth,IN she has had 1 person say the N word around her “not even at her”. Which did bother her at which point pissed me off as well! What I told her was that the world has a lot of shitty people in the country (Aaron ) and you can’t let words of jealous people bring you down and to not let them see it bother you but if that is the worse thing she ever hears is someone saying that word around her in a 99.9% white school! Racism isn’t as bad as people make it out to be but the media fires up those people looking for reasons to get mad in this outrage culture we have! If it bleeds it leads or if it’s divides our country it leads!

Just my opinion!

Registration does lead to confiscation! “Aaron”!

Richard B

If Aaron was right, then where are the throngs of people calling him dumb and wrong. If he was right about like-minded people enjoying spoon-fed arguments then there would have been more than one response to his argument. The fact that there was only one response proves he was wrong.

Aaron, you fought on an anthill and died there for what? Because you fear that people will get mad at the media and kill someone? Who cares they are the enemy like Shawn said and I for one agree with Shawn we must stop all our enemies with whatever it takes. Whatever it takes.

We as a community are the last bastion of good in this world that has gone to pot (not that kind of pot savage) We have to defend our perceived correctness and force those who are our enemies spreading fake news from the rooftops.

----END ANTI AARON POSTS----

Hunter M

Dear WLS, I want to ask everybody what their experience and opinions are on which Manufacturer of 1911 Pistols is the best value for the money ? What I can afford is probably one of the Kimber Custom 2’s or Springfield 1911’s. The Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, and Les Baer’s are way out of my price range.

Timmy  L

What of the following calibers would each cast member prefer for hunting whitetail deer in open tall grass fields. 30.06, 308, or 6.5 creedmore and why?

Jose M

Love the podcast. I listen every week when it drops on Google. I have a gear chat question. Wondering if you can recommend any particular active protection bluetooth ear buds? I listen to podcasts and YouTube all day at my job but hate not being able to hear what is going on around me. I would also like to be able to use them while hunting and work on the cars. Any recommendations?

Justin W

Love the show. I just listened to episode 210, what the fuck? Has there been any new fuckery from that guy?

The main question I have is ; Am I the only one paranoid about posting much of anything, gun related, on social media? I'm not so worried about what people think about my 2a support, but am worried about potential criminal know what is in my home. Criminals including our government, taxation is theft, and what's your thoughts on flying cars? Thanks y'all keep up the goldfish work.

Hunter M

Dear WLS, you put on a great show, I enjoy listening while at home and driving to and from work. Your show is informative and I have learned a lot about different calibers, probably everything i need to know about polymer 80’s, and the deception of the NRA. My question is if any of you guys know who makes or imports AK-107’s into the USA or if they are obtainable like any other common rifle ? If so who makes a quality one ? Thank you and keep up the great work !

Will F

Dear Not Aaron,

My friend and I were discussing FFL's and possibly looking into getting one. One discussion that came up was that most gun laws and restrictions like magazine capacity, features, and etc. don't apply to FFL's and that everyone should get an FFL because of those reasons and a few others. My argument to that was if everyone got an FFL wouldn't we effectively be playing into the Gun Grabbers hands that insist that we all need to have a license to buy and own guns. Also, FFL information is Public, that includes Names, Phone numbers, Addresses,... Giving whoever the ability to know who has guns? What are your thoughts on gun community people getting FFLs and the implications?

Hunter M

Dear WLS, Your podcast is awesome I really enjoy listening to your show. My question is have you guys ever reviewed, shot, or have any experience with rifle dynamics AK’s ? As a california resident the one I am interested in is the RD703 Classic CA Complaint model in 762 X 39. What are your thoughts and opinions?

Branden H

Hello, I live in California and I have my ccw. I current have a glock 19, an m&p shield 9mm and a ruger lcp on my permit. I am thinking about getting a 365, but they usually go for about $1,400 here if I can find a LEO willing to sell theirs. Do you think it is work getting one for $1,400?

Just so you know the title comes from the song the circle of life Lion king, and speak of the lion king, Shawn is like Mufasa, wise, old, and a great leader, Aaron would be a Zazu, a great and loyal Advisor. Jeremy, you would think would be Scar, but I see him as Rafiki, not because of his ability to bring wisdom, but because I am sure his ass is bulbous and chapped and red. Nick is kind of like Nala, Wanting to please her pride, putting out to all the other lions but is in love with Simba, who would be Savage, because of Savage in his communist ways, expects everything handed to him, and does not respect authority, and he would only truely be happy once he overthrows or kills all the leadership above him.

I watched the show live the other day, and feel like Aaron had some valid points. The media does hit at truths, and lies, but is in no regard the enemy.

Plus it did not help my opinion with the way Shawn kept trying to end the segment with backhanded slights as if he (Shawn) were being impartial but in actualality, he (Shawn) was kind of being a dick. No offense Shawn I mean you out of this group I respect you the most, I mean behind Jeremy, and then Aaron, and Nick (lol, JK), and 9 times out of 10 you hit the nail on the head, but this time you missed swinging, like an ex who felt like she needed to get one last dig in...

Now in regards to Jeremy v. Aaron echo chamber, I agree with Jeremy. There are just so many places people can consume media, so the idea that people usually stay at their own lane with blinders on is idiotic, however, that being said, for him to say The right consumes more of the lefts info is just dumb. Honestly, there are more left sources for media so yes he is correct, but it is not because the right is more balanced to news and open to ideas, they just have fewer sources.

I also Feel like yeah people who just wanted to be spoon-fed their opinions are dumb, so Aaron is right there and I appreciate all of you saying you get your news from more than once source, that I feel makes your judgments more sound (except the registration/confiscation, -1 point for you Aaron)

So if we were keeping score it would go like this Shawn 0, Aaron (2 but -1 for confiscation) = 1, Jeremy 1, Savage -100 but Nick I love you 3000

Robert M

Dear WLS crew.

Sorry about the butchered message I sent previously. I guess that’s what happens when you try to type and answer endless dumb questions. Shawn I am sorry you got upset, I didn’t realize your ego was so fragile. I will resend my comment and say you are kinda funny. So I have two questions, first my carry gun in a sig p277 carry and was wondering if the appendix holsters at black rhino concealment would easily hide the thick grips? Second, I am currently looking for recommendations on where to move , not giving up just yet but I am entertaining the idea. I am an elevator mechanic so I kinda need big buildings to have a job. Thanks guys.

Christopher L

Hey fellas, I'm gathering parts for an AR build chambered in .300 blackout and it's time to make a decision on a barrel. I have narrowed it down to the Faxon 7.5" with 1/8 twist or a Roscoe 8.2" with 1/7 twist. I'm primarily going to shoot suppressed and would like to hear your opinion on twist rate and length rather than our mutual love of Faxon parts. If you guys have a favorite adjustable gas block I'd like to hear about that too. Great show, thanks.

Steve HT

Bolt action pistols are useful in areas where hunting with center fire rifles are restricted. Here in western NY we have areas that are too heavily populated for rifles. Therefore they are shotgun and pistol only. Rifle cartridge pistols are a happy medium. So Aaron now that you see the safety use case does your opinion change?

Timmy Boogaloo

If you could only choose one rifle to prepare for the boogaloo, what would it be? You don't know what the boogaloo is going to be. One rifle to prepare for them all (climate change, invasion, political, red dawn, revolution, zombies, etc.) One rifle to fight, hunt, pillage, steal, and survive with. If you feel you must have a pistol too, you have the 9mm of your choice. I thought I wanted a Scar and have been saving up for it. But now POF has the gen 4 revolution in 308 and I'm thinking I might want that instead. Get ready boys it's coming.

NYS FreedomFighter

Thank for responding to my question in episode 115. I listened to your answers a few times but I am not clear on what you think is the optimal barrel length for a 22 lr in a AR platform. Optimal in terms of accuracy out to 50 yards and keeping it short and light. Thanks again and keep up the great show.

Steven Crowder

The second amendment does not apply to Aaron...Change my mind

Aaron is over the age of 45 and his diabetes disqualifies him as sound of body.

Second amendment: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Militia: The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.

RATING: ★★★★★

I listen to the episode where you talk about being futurama characters, I think this is the best way to describe the show, so here is my opinion, Shawn is Morbo, because he is the highlight of the news show, Jeremy would be Lrrr because he wants to eat some human horn, Aaron would be hypno toad, just ask the Patreons wives, Nick would be Boxy. I think that covers everyone.

38 Super +p  vs 9mm +P+

#DearWLS

Andy T

Question for all. I have been a listener for sometime. I have heard several questions about 40 cal, 45, .357 SIG instead of 9mm for self defense. WLS has educated me that shot placement is more important because all modern calibers have the same basic wound cavity. If shot placement is more important, than why is 22 wmr not in the conversation for self defense out of a revolver. Ballistics are solid, recoil is minimal, and Hornady makes critical defense loads that are excellent. Interested to hear everyone take on the matter.

Bonus question for Jeremy ...Thoughts on Rebel Silencers for a budget option on a range toy ....Pretty sure you carry them at your range

WLS is life

Registration does lead to confiscation and in most cases sweet sweet post apocolyptic butt currency

Thanks Guys

-Andy

Shawn H

First, can you find the time stamp and the episode where A-Aron was trying to defend his previous argument that registration doesn't lead to confiscation? Just wanted to hear it again and hear how he tried to defend that BS argument. I remember in one of your previous phone-in episodes where A-Aron agreed (finally) that registration is intended to facilitate confiscation. Sorry, A-Aron. Second, Smith and Wesson Model 60 Pro Series or Ruger GP100. Thanks, love the show.

Shitfor Brains

Great show guys! I trust your advice with my life and have an important question. I just screwed up bad. I bought a new Vortex scope and went to zero it. Like an indiot, I left the bore sighter in when I took the shot. Blew the muzzle brake wide open and the mag out the bottom of the rifle. it's a semi-auto, DI, 30.06

I took off the brake, inspected the barrel and internals and there does not appear to be any other damage to the naked eye. There is possibly a slight bow about 3/4" from the end of the barrel but It could just be an optical illusion. The rifle seems to cycle rounds when I did it by hand. I'm sitting here at the range trying to figure out if this is safe to keep shooting. What do you think?

NYS FreedomFighter

Hey guys, I want to say thank you for putting on such a great show. I look forward to listening to Doubletap every week. So much so that I listen to the live show on YouTube before the edited version releases. No sorry not enough to stay up an listen to it live. I have a four-year-old. My evenings are gold. I especially like it when someone asks a question that sets Jeremy off on a rant.

I don't think this will be one of those. I have a NYS compliant AR15 pistol in 9mm that is listed on my permit as multi-caliber. It has an 8.5" barrel and measures, according to the most recent ATF letter, at 24". I also have a 22lr revolver with a 6" barrel. The problem with it, is the groups open up way too much past 15 yards.

I don't want to go longer than 25" but was wondering if I got a 22lr DI upper what would be the optimal barrel length and twist rate for normal shooting to 50 yrds? Also as I understand the most recent ATF letter being a DI upper the measurement would be from the end of the barrel to the rear of the receiver (as opposed to the 9mm configuration that is to the end of the buffer). In your non-legal opinion do you agree? Or could they say because it takes both uppers it is the longest point?

Gun Bunny

If you had to be a Gun Bunny and you could be any Gun Bunny who would you be?

Shitfor Brains

After sitting at the range for a while looking things over and taking apart as much as I could without any real tools I decided to give it a go. I'm still here to send this to you. Zero'd the rifle at a 100 yards. Shot about 20 rounds. Got it home the barrel has 0.009" bubble 3/4" from the end. The inside has some very shiny parts that look like I shot a lot more rounds than I did. But nothing looks truly damaged.

Rodin M

When considering a carry gun, which order would each cast member place the following characteristics of a firearm...

Comfort

concealability

capacity

accuracy (how well the individual shoots the firearm)

I am going to buy a 1911. I want a good quality 1911 and price isn't a huge factor. I'm not quite wanting to spend nighthawk prices but I dont mind spending for something good. I also like unique and with that said I've had my eye on the standard manufacturing case hardened 1911. I love the case hardened look but I'm not in the know on the quality of the standard manufacturing products. Wondering if any of you are familiar or have an opinion on them? Also open to hear what you really like for a quality 1911. Thanks in advance for the input!

Happy humpday gentlemen, I need your help. My ar10 pistol is over gassed! I'm running a 10 inch barrel with a 750 gas block with standard buffer weight. What are my options to stop my pistol from ripping the lip off my brass. P.s. Texas still has the best patrons.

Robert M

Dear WLS.

I want to start you guys are the second best overall podcasts out there and best pertaining to firearms. The best being sofbadmonkey. I’m live in New York and wanted some recommendations how I could get everyone motivated enough to actually vote. Where I live it’s mostly republican but most people are dumb and give up saying that NYC will wash out their vote. I’ve been considering moving but I don’t want to give up and let commie Cuomo win.

Thanks for any advice.

Also who actually thinks Shawn is funny? I just don’t see it.

Angel pegs shawn #ShawnLikesPegging

A while back shawn and Nick took the night fire course at Kenaz tactical and shawn mentioned that he needed to look into a new light due to his not being good enough. While larping in my basement the other day running around I began to notice how annoying it is to have a multi setting flashlight (High/low/storbe). I very quickly realized how that is not the ideal set up for a life and liberty AR. So in your testing and experience what flashlights have you found to be the best that can be used for all scenarios (home defence etc..)? Thanks for all you guys do youve helped me alot through my past year of listening.

Heath M

Do any of you have funny stories while visiting the range? Besides A-Aron breaking the 180. Also, do any of you have any interests in any specific wildcat cartridges?

P.S. If you're looking for a great firearms podcast, listen to Vortex Optic's Vortex Nation Podcast. My Third favorite firearms podcast behind We Like Shooting and Double Tap (of course).

Chris W

What generalb firearms tool kit would you suggest? I'm just looking for general all around use. And Nick does a second U.S. civil war count as a #ssb use scenario? Also you should keep footless Aaron as backup #ssb.

The Danger of WLS

by Threadcount100000: on

RATING: ★★★★★

The problem with WLS is that it's like a drug. I listened once and I was hooked. Maybe it was the Shawn conducted the interviews, or Aaron's comedic timing in dropping one liners, maybe it was Nick's amazing blandness and dry humor or Jeremy's sandpaper like approach to being human. Be careful people, because the first hit is free.

 I just had an ND

by OGCowboy: on

RATING: ★★★★★

I just had an ND in my ear, because of this amazing show. Love the cast, Shawn is like Ben Cartwright from Bonanza, His leadership brings the group together, Savage is like the Carwrights cook, Hop Sing. You go girl! Jeremy is the Hoss of the group, big dumb and so full of happiness. Aaron being a Jew, ran everything behind the scenes because you know this is Hollywood. I kid I kid, Aarons not a real jew, he is poor. And Nick, my favorite out of everyone on the show he would be the Map that gets burned before each episode. Because he is full of knowledge and information, like a map, but he gets burned to death... because that is what I am going to do when I find him, and then wear his charcoaled skin like a jacket. Keep eating buddy, I am a big guy as well.

FROM FACEBOOK

David E  recommends We Like Shooting.

A show featuring the #SSB ATM with ears (Shawn), a man two cheeseburgers away from fatal heart disease (Nick), a man who wants your wife as much as he wants your gold (Aaron), a living embodiment of gun knowledge and hate personified (Jeremy), and a stand-in penis substitute (Savage).

But in all seriousness, one of the best gun podcasts out there, full of tons of humor, insight, and free of politics, something that's endemic in many others.

ps, Shawn needs his Glock 43 chamber adjusted to fit 33 round magazines, if you know what I'm sayin'.

Glenn L

Hey fellas! I wanted to see if you guys could help me figure out a carry solution for my particular situation. I had my gall bladder removed and the surgery left me with abdominal adhesions, thus causing quite a bit of mid-section pain. When I tighten up my belt, it hurts all day, so I have to wear it loose. I am currently wearing a double layer leather gun belt, but I can't tighten it enough to keep a holstered weapon from dragging my pants down. I tried a steel core, ratcheting belt made for carry, but that caused so much pain I ended up having a CT scan to rule out any unknown medical issues. This leaves me with very few on-body carry options. I work at a gun shop on a bad side of Anchorage and I really need to always have a gun with me. Any suggestions? Thanks!

John F

So, I install aquariums for a living, what is the legality behind me carrying my gun into a costumer’s house? Let’s say someone attacks me while I’m in there house and I have to shoot them, what would happen to me then?

Dan K

Hey guys! Love the show. I also love a sweet-sweet-butthole as much as the next guy, but must admit it almost got me fired. I started in a new department recently. On my second day I went to a planning meeting where everyone kept talking about different projects and their respective scope, schedule, and budget. The reason I almost lost my job is because instead of saying scope, schedule, and budget, they all said SSB and I had to explain why that made me laugh. I lied. Anyways, I know Jeremy hates stupid questions like “What holster do you recommend?” So my question is; “What shooting podcast do you recommend?”

Don G

What distinguishes a pistol brace from a stock?

Looking into getting into some sort of longer range shooting, I live in western North Carolina, and as such, longer ranges aren't as accessable, we have a local range that has a 250 yd. Precision range and my property will only ever see the longest at about 150. I've been looking at grabbing a ruger american ranch in 450 bushmaster with a swampfox 1-4x as I have an interest in some sort of big bore precision. Do any of you guys have experience with this platform or any alternate recommendations, or should I just stick with something more traditional as a do all for range time and occasionally hunting?

Thanks for making my work days enjoyable and making the best firearms podcast around.

Could you please look into and discuss the new NRA program, "NRA CCW Course" ( https://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2019/6/5/nra-launches-50-state-nra-ccw-course/ )?

The idea seems sound, an NRA credentialed course with "modular" components which allow it to be customized to each State's legal CCW requirements. The NRA certainly has the experience and know-how to be able to put together a course such as this and, as an NRA Certified Instructor, it sure sounds enticing on the face of it. However, the requirement that an already credentialed Instructor must take the course as a student sounds a bit iffy, particularly when considering that it is designed to be different for each state but transferable to anther state; just add and subtract the appropriate "modules." We have been burned by the NRA before with programs that sounded good on the face but when details came out turned out to be nothing more than over-hyped revenue streams. Carry Guard Training sounded good on the run up until it became clear that it was intended to undercut the thousands of local NRA's Certified Instructors. Carry Guard Insurance sounded like a no-brainer until it became clear that it was actual insurance and was rolled out in such a way as to deliberately damage former partners, now competitors, particularly the USCCA.

Is this "CCW Course," while sounding good on the face of it, just another attempt to part long-suffering NRA Certified Instructors from their money to enrich Wayne LaPierre and his cronies?

Thanks for your time.

Shawn do you carry epinephrine in your med kit? I have a hard time fitting epipens and auvi-q in my med kit. I have an allergy to bees and my daughter to cashews. If I'm at the range or in the woods or at the store I like to have it with me. Any suggestions for a good carry kit? I like that kit you showed the other week with the app. As a prior serviceman with combat lifesavers training the app would be good for me to review as I have time.

Each cast member to list the one piece of equipment (firearm, accessory, gear, ammo... anything firearm or shooting related) that unexpectedly surprised them. Something you were expecting to be gimmicky or didn’t think much of, but when finally used or reviewed, it surpassed your expectations to the point where you became true believers.

And name one piece of gear that was the opposite. Where you had such high hopes, but it completely let you down.

Episode 224 future re review!

by Unicorn7384848: on

RATING: ★★★★★

I was listening to your older episodes and came across episode 224. I couldn't believe you let Aaron have an opinion after that show. I want to know what Aaron thinks now about shooting targets with political figures or anyone they hate? haha these days that's almost as good as that SSBH! Even he can't argue that registration leads to confiscation now in 2019. I see why my iPhone keeps populating the Aaron is not on this episode show! Keep up the good Jeremy! Tell Aaron when to shut the hell up! WLS4Life!

Why I listen to you

by BightBert on

RATING: ★★★★★

Why do I listen to you, well, it is funny, because I listen to you guys argue, and Savage says something to Shawn, and they go back and forth which reminds me of this story, Once upon a time there was a little boy named Savage.

This little boy was born with a straaaaange condition. You see, this little boy was born without a body. He had no arms, no legs, and no torso. He was just a head.

Because he was still a little boy head, he had little boy desires and his parents couldn't bear to see him in his room, just sitting there lonely, nothing to do. So his parents attached his head to a piece of 2x4 board so it would stay upright. I think they used double sided tape, I'm not sure. It could have been glue.

Anyway, they decided to set the little boy's head onto his window sill in his room during the day so he could watch all the other boys across the street play catch in the field. At least then, he could imagine being a regular boy and playing ball outside with other regular boys.

So every day, he watched the other kids play catch, and every night he went to bed he wished really hard to be a normal boy with arms, legs and a torso so he could go across the street and play with the other kids. He was so lonely. All he could do was roll around in his room, because he was nothing but a head.

One particular night, the little boy head had enough. He was becoming depressed, anxious, and he could not hold out any longer. He couldn't do it. This was no life for a little boy, being either taped or glued to a board and spending his days gazing longingly out a window where just across the street was a life he knew he'd never have.

It was just about time for his parents to come and carry him into bed. The sun was dipping below the horizon as he watched all the other boys laugh and fake punch each other as they left the field to go home on their regular legs to their regular lives.

It was then that the little boy saw it. A shooting star...

Quickly, he wished, wished, and wished really hard. This was his last chance, because if this didn't work, he might become depressed forever and watch television for the rest of his days. He wished for the biggest wish of all, that he might become a regular little boy with regular arms and regular legs so he could go play with the other regular boys. After some time of wishing very hard, he fell asleep on the window sill. His mother came and tucked him in as he slumbered.

The next morning, blanket up to his chin, he awoke to the sound of cheerful birds singing and rays of sunlight peeking through his curtains drawing shapes on his bedroom wall. He could hear the regular boys playing across the street, laughing and joking gleefully.

Still groggy from sleep, he felt something. Something under the covers. Looking down, it was as though someone put pillows down there. But he was the pillows? He could move? HE HAD A BODY???

He THREW the covers off to discover a full body! Like the force of a thousand lightning bolts he jumped out of his bed and darted through the bedroom door, and all the way out the front door before his parents had even had a chance to respond to all the racket.

Across the lawn he ran, fast as any regular boy he'd ever seen. This was amazing! He was a regular boy!

He reached the pavement of the street separating his yard from the field where the boys were playing ball. In a sheer moment of triumph, the new regular boy reached the center of the street, gaining speed, and all the other regular boys turned their heads toward him...

Their surprise gave way to horror as the blare of the horn of an 18-wheeler preceded the sickening "THWACK" sound as the full weight of that vehicle slammed into the kid at a full 55 miles per hour, completely obliterating him. It was all slow motion, but it happened so fast. And if that kid had any shoes on him, they'd have been knocked clean to Kansas.

There was a lot of grief, lives broken, things that could not be unseen. That little boy's family buried him two days later. All the regular boys attended. It was a solemn occasion, but they remembered the headstone the most. And on the headstone read, "Quit while you're ahead."

But get rid of that Jew, Aaron, we could use less of them running the media and I also feel bad for Savage, He has TDS, Trump Derangement Syndrome. But then I heard he has a brown wife, and that explains everything. Send her Back Savage. #MAGA

Since Nick is the NPR of gun pod casting and Paul Harrell is the NPR of traditional youtube content can we see a team up some time. They are both monotone and low voices and surprise you with the info they give. Also when they lose it they lose it (Voda) with Nick.

Also Lynch & Harrell just sounds right.

Waldo F

Just heard the pod cast, kinda fan girled out you guys read my question about the LR308 build anyways the twist rate on my barel is 1:8 and the ammo I've been using is L2A2 146gr fmj. We've also tried various hand loads of 165grand some 150grs as well. Everything else on the rifle has stayed the same. Also the handrail does not touch the gas block and I've eliminated the wobble between the upper and lower. Thanks again guys.

Max F

I know Jeremy is really the goto person for most of my firearm questions, but this one is a bit out there. I have been hunting for a while, even have a great dog who retrieves the ducks I pluck from the sky with my Browning Wicked Wings A5, I like this shotgun because it can chamber 3 ½ shells. I got it in the Realtree pattern with the receiver and barrel cerakoted burnt bronze, looks so good, anyhow my question for Jeremy is, how can I tell if my dog is gay. I assumed he would have the most knowledge on these things.

Spencer K

I was watching Rambo Part II and I was wondering where he got those exploding arrows from? I don’t recall seeing them while I was in the service, but I think if we would have been issued those instead of the M14’s back in ‘Nam, we could have just won that war. Anyhow, I have a big issue on my property of stray cats and think this would be the best management device. The triplines to the claymores I set out don't work as the cats just seem to walk over them, however, I did lose a couple of dogs to them. Damn, I am going to miss those dogs. So any leads would be greatly appeciated. Thanks, Keep up the great Show.

RATING: ★★★★★

If all of you were members of the Avengers, Jeremy would be the Hulk, because the secret is out, he is always angry Sean would have to be Iron Man because he is into tech and kind of the leader of this group. Nick would be Thor, because of his beard, and his desire to ride the rainbow bridge into any man's life, Savage would not be Black widow, even though she is the Russian connection, no he would be Ant-man… because he is small and finally Aaron Would SHIELD, not Captian American’s shield but the organization, the reason is simple, while I am sure Aarons intentions are good, he has a lot of corruption running rampant inside of him.

Hey guys, I am a sweater. The yucky kind, not the terrible Christmas gift you get from your grandma. As big guys yourselves, I assume you are also sweaters (as opposed to screamers or moaners #ssb). So my question is, what is the best lube/protection to protect a carry gun from my crying fat cells? (I work outside in the heat and humidity so I am constantly trying to prevent rust)

Thanks,

***** Five Stars***** I would leave you guys a review but I despise social media. However, I want to thank you for recommending a Super Sixty rifle in my last question. I pre-ordered one and received it a few weeks ago. You guys did not do the adjustability of this rifle justice, in your recommendation. I absolutely love it.

This is the most comfortable and most fun rifle I have ever shot. I'm still playing with all the adjustments on it, seeing what works best for me. Once I decide on an optic for it, it will be complete. Right now I'm using the iron sights and the rifle will out shoot my old eyes at 100 yrds all day long. I love that the stock angles down for the perfect sight picture. I put a magpul angled forgrip on it and the rifle is just so firm and comfortable to hold. The other day I did a mag-dump into a woodchuck that was running and obliterated it. With the adjustable post-travel screw, I can't outshoot the action.

Thanks again for the recommendation, I'll be coming to you guys whenever I have a question from now on.

Deer Slayer

Wondering what ammo you would recommend for a 9 MM PCC that is used to shoot Whitetail Deer out to 50 yards? It is the start of the Nuisance season here and my buddy loaned me his Kel Tec sub2000 to try out. Not the rifle I will go with when I purchase my own but it will work for me to test out using a short rifle while I'm in the fields. I'm thinking about getting some Federal SYNTECH PCC. Wondering if it will get the job done.

Aiden S

Im curious what nick and Jeremy think about this one. Bird shot for self defense? Also why do people suggest high brass for number 8 shot and smaller buck shot loads?

Patterning the gun im getting just above open hand sized groups with the majority in my palm at 7 yards.

Not terribly concerned about over penetration but It is a slight concern but I know the layout of my house and only one other person in here and they are at the back. And the neighbors are about 20 feet away.

Just curious of your thoughts.

Is Aaron A God?

by Jfront on

RATING: ★★★★★

If Aaron cant die, and he is as old as you say he is, is there a chance that he is a God, or maybe just someone cursed to walk this earth until the beetis takes his feet, then cursed to roll this earth. Also if he is cursed, it would explain why he is pretending to be a jew, it keeps him away from the cross, but maybe that is just vampires, not really up on my diety lore these days.

Jeremy was talking about celebrity boxing the other day, tell him he has to actually be famous to be called a celebrity. He has a better chance of celibacy boxing, he can practice on Shawns, heavy sack, I mean bag, I mean… you know what I mean, his giant balls. Wait are his balls long or just super swollen? Jeremy has seen them, maybe he can answer that.

What are your thoughts on the POF Revolution DI?

https://pof-usa.com/firearms/revolution-di/

Is it worth the price or do you think something else can be acquired or built with comparable features for less?

Do you think this can be made CA compliant with a patriot pin?

Hey guys my twin and I have been stumped on this LR308 build we have it just wont group. I used to have a sucky PSA barrel in it 18" SS midlength and would group decently with target fmj. I thought to support faxon, brownells, and you guys by getting a 7.62 NATO 16.5" mid gas from faxon on brownells using your link. I took it shooting and it wouldnt group at all. I used a vortex prism sight, then took off the sight and threw on a vortex 1x4 crossfire and still the same. I put a heavy buffer to help out you guys think it would it be a barrel issue or what I'm stumped I'm chasing patterns at the range. Anyways thanks guys for keeping me entertained while on duty at my post.

Tony living in the closet

Five Stars. Great show with lots of great product reviews. Actually just bought those glasses that Aaron recommended. Not bad for a cheap pair of safety glasses. They're too large for my face and tight on the side of my head but you really got a lot for the $25. I'm always losing my sunglasses so I can't pay for good ones.

Wondering if you could help me with a recommendation for a new hunting vest. I've been hearing a lot of these "tactical" hunters asking questions and figure maybe its time I come out of the closet with my modern hunting styles too.

I currently use a UTG vest. I know you guys bash on their quality but this vest has really held up well for the last five years. I hunt all year round, often every day of the week. My problem is it doesn't fit me unless I'm wearing a heavy jacket under it. The vest is one size fits all with a lot of adjustment. But even with all the adjustments in the smallest settings I still have to pin it smaller across the back; or else it falls off my shoulders. I'm 5'7" and 145 lbs. Maybe this is a question best suited for Savage since he is also small and hacks crap together to work.

I have a lot of add-ons on it like a dump pouch for gloves, a pouch Garmin Alpha, multitool, compass, a holster for my second pistol (yes I carry a 22 pistol in the chest holster and my 9mm on the waist) and knife. I use all the mag pouches for carrying different calls, spare ammo, med kit, and everything. I also use the loops on it to attach different packs to. I like how the belt attaches to the vest so the weight of all the gear is on my shoulders.

Any suggestions for a comparable vest that comes in a size that will fit me? I wear a medium size shirt.

Glad to hear that Shawn is making an attempt to change his diet. I have some information for Nick to help protect his investment in Shawn's SSB. I didn't catch what he was attempting to change his diet too. If I can make a suggestion to increase the value of that SSB; it would be to change to a Whole Food Wild Meat-based diet. Not only is it a great diet but then you can get Shawn to send you on hunting trips with his Herrin money.

The reason Shawn gets cranky when changing his diet is that he is impacting the level of bacteria in his guts. Those on the Standard American Diet (SAD) have a high level of bacteria in their intestines. This is due to the extreme amount of sugar consumed in processed foods. Those bacteria communicate with your brain via the Vagas nerve. This causes your brain to release more food from your Stomach. When there is no more sugar for the bacteria to eat they get angry (because they're starving). They then release chemicals into your body that impacts your mood. This will last for about three weeks. This time table will change based on any fluctuations in the amount of sugar Shawn is eating.

When the bacteria finally die they will send out signals to other bacteria that they are under attack. This will cause the other bacteria, like those on the skin, to respond. This will most likely result in acne for a while. Take advantage of this time as it will be like the SSB of a young boy.

In the end, Shawn will have a healthier SSB that will heal faster making it worth more on the open market.

P.S. When I changed to this diet I lost 45 lbs in three months, dropped my cholesterol 100 points and went from borderline high blood pressure to borderline low blood pressure.

Riley reid I'd lick that SSBH

I am currently building a 14.5" ar build and I am wondering which lower I should choose if it really matters. After doing research I have learned that forged 7075 t6 are the strongest receives that are made. However, Anderson, PSA, Aero and BCM all use the these lowers that are Hardcoat Anodized per MIL-A-8625F, Type III, Class 2.

So with all of them being made to the same specs does it really matter, or are you just paying for the rollmark on the side?

Thank you all and please don't let the commie on Double Tap again. #KeepDoubleTapCommieFree

If I take a 1 liter bottle of water and put it on the end of my AR 15, do I need to register that water bottle as a suppressor and pay a $200 tax stamp for it being a single use suppressor? And yes, it works as a suppressor, I did it in Iraq.

Heini C

Beste "Ons hou van skiet"

Please excuse me. I can like to speak English very deliciously, but my mother’s tongue is Afrikaans.

I am from Cape Town in the Communist Republic of South Africa. Here we have gun registration that currently is leading to confiscation. With our gun laws being so strict we are normally only allowed 4 weapons (a "self-defense" handgun, along with a second handgun, a shotgun and a bolt action rifle for sport/hunting) unless one prove to the state that you are more dedicated than the rest then you may have a semi auto rifle and shotgun. To obtain any of the mentioned one need to jump through loads of hoops, write tests, do a background check and then wait basically a year for your permission card... that’s now for each weapon separately.

I have now reached the point where I am allowed to ask permission to own a SLR.

So... the question is what SLR should I get.

The options I have access to here (and can afford, yes I am a poor) are the:

Bushmaster WM-15 QRC 16", 1 in 8" twist

Ruger AR-556 16", 1 in 8" twist

S&W M&P15 sport or sport ii 16", 1 in 9" twist

Or should I just get myself a Norinco Type 56 AK47.

It would mainly be used for plinking but I would like to be able to do some sport shooting in the future.

Love the show. Jeremy come stay in South Africa your likelihood of getting a "stateside" is higher than in America. Cape Town is the 11th most dangerous City in the World.

Regards

Heini

Hey y’all! Quick question! (Fingers crossed the whole cast is there when you get to this one.) Alright the time has come to go ahead and get the suppressor circus started and I’ve been trying to nail down a good all around multican. I was really looking at deadair/griffin and others for a while but now since y’all have a sponsorship with bowers i think I might let them pop my can cherry. I’ll primarily being shooting 9mm/223/556 and 300blk. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! #wlsislife #stoplettingnickhavedaysoff

Hello from the horrible commie state of New York. I want to start out by saying I love the show. You guys are hilarious and informative. Except for Shawn he's not funny at all but he is a great host. In a recent episode you guys talk about selling your hair and I think that's a great idea. I have several crimes that I may or may not want to commit and I need some scapegoats the frame. Leaving your hair at murder scenes should be good enough to clear me and land the whole group in prison. Don't worry I think you guy will have a great time. Jeremy can finally get his state side and with that ssb you guys could live like kings. Keep up the good work, love the show and remember registration always leads to confiscation, a good commie is a dead commie and diabetes kills.

Just be glad I did.

I don't have one of those clever, drawn out reviews like the rest of you attention whores. I just listen because I too am fat, kinda angry, alittle annoying, bald and like shooting. My ears are normal size and my #SSB is not bleached so I'm kinda out of my league here. Just keep doing what you guys do, you are all an asset to the community, I will continue to support you until the apocalypse, then someone else can support you while I gather my bartering material. #WLSislife #SSB

Chris, my dearest Chris, I could spend eternity gazing into your twinkling eyes through your crystal-clear glass. I know you feel it too - the passion that burns inside us both. I can't help but wonder, every time I hear the name whispered softly and sweetly..."Swamp Fox".... what your erector tubes are like...

We may have never met, Chris, but I can't help but believe that every time I look through a scope that's not a Swamp Fox it's your voice I hear whispering gently "...get that piece of sh*t off your rifle, put a Patriot on there".

Now that Jeremy has an awkward boner and Chris from Swamp Fox knows how I really feel about him, here's the actual WLS review. WLS is, in my opinion, the best firearms/2A podcast out there. It's a perfect synthesis of offensive comedy, information, news, reviews and dick jokes. Each member of the cast brings something to the table that creates a Thanksgiving feast of a show... except for Savage, because Communism.

Dear Chris, I would love a Swamp Fox Patriot because it’s long and beautiful, and spent a good portion of it’s life in China, just like you. You stated it is cheap and better and I can’t wait to get my hands on it, also like you. I hope you see you can help me see, and that will make me my best me, so please pick me.

Yours truly,
