Sounds like you tried finding me some AEV Pintlers so I kept my end of the deal and left some I-Tunes feedback. Really enjoying the show, and quite impressed when you start talking Toyota.
I've tried various "On Board" air systems and in the end go Power Tank. The air tanks are too small, lack volume enough to really run any tools, and the flow through the lines is pretty weak as well. The "On Board" is fine for running lockers and airing up at the end of the trail, just really slow and frustrating at the end of the day waiting for tires to fill up.
Currently I carry a 10 lb PowerTank mounted with a second 10 lb bottle in the Jeep and never want for air. Great product, only drawbacks being the initial cost and loss of storage space in a smaller rig like a TJ.

I've got a '84 Toyota pick-up, that is Stock as far as I know, with the 22R engine in it. I want to make it into a custom general 4x4 rig that is street legal and need more power. (What can I say? The 95hp and 137 Torque just ain't gonna cut it)
Two questions: A)What is a good engine to swap out without having to trade out the transmission too. (or do I need to anyway?)
B) Do I need to upgrade the axles to run 35" tires? It already has the solid axles so I'm hoping not to swap them out.
I know that there will be other mods needed like suspension, a cage, etc. but I'm really looking for some direction in these two areas to get started.

I was listening to episode 13 tonight and heard you guys answer my previous email about my Tracker. Thank you for the information and the links in the show notes. In the long run I will probably just go with Toyota axles front and rear.
Since asking that last question I have decided not to put on 32s and instead go with 235/75r15 which is almost 29 inches. Stock size is 205/75r15 which is about 27 inches. Yes, I will put 32s or even 35s on in the far future, but for now smaller tires fit my budget better and put less strain on the old tracker. (I'm trying to minimize damage, and thus repair cost.) I also need to conserve all the power this little guy has to get me up the in the mountain roads for the ski season and wheeling.
I attached a picture of it below. I know you guys would have preferred a pic of it on a trail, but I don't have any on-trail pictures yet.
To answer your next question.... Yes, the front is lifted higher than the rear. In this picture I have 1.5 in. spacers in the front with no back lift. I plan on finishing up the lift with new struts and shocks as well as old man emu coils (front and back) which should lift it about 1.5 inches, as well. In the end it will be 3 inches in the front and 1.5 in the rear. Why did I want the front higher? No reason other than I like the look. I already have an oddball rig, why not some oddball styling?
The wheels in this picture are 215/75r15 so they are between the stock size and the size I want. I obviously have no bumpers on the rig, but know a guy that can fabricate some custom tube bumpers.
I hope you guys enjoy my wacky rig. If you want, I can keep you updated on the progress. It may be pretty slow over winter being that my money will temporarily be going toward another passion of mine, skiing. I'll see if I can at least take pictures of the little rig rescuing all the Subbies and Audis from the snow banks.

I'm in the process of fixing up a 2000 Chevy K3500 4 door 8' bed for some mild off-road use. It's the old body style with a 454 and single rear wheels. It currently has a 3" body lift and will have 35" tires when I get the front bushings and steering parts replaced. It will mostly be used for trips to the gun range and towing/hauling stuff to the river with the family so I'm going to keep the IFS front end.
I'm looking forward to an episode on the gm 14 bolt full float rear end detailing what is involved in rebuilding one and options for lockers since the factory locking differential isn't working.

p.s. What's up with the lack of dirt on the tires on that Jeep just because it's not lifted. That's just sad.
