Reloading Podcast 201 - Red vs Blue vs Green

Hello, and welcome to the Reloading Podcast here on the Firearms Radio Network.

Tonight the guys are answering more questions.

  1. Audio seems better the last few weeks. Thanks for tackling it. I watched you get rid of mic filter thing...caught you at a bad moment. Anyway things seem good now!
I have a question about “energy” or whatever else it’s called to figure out the size and speed of a bullet for hunting. I can’t find much info on that. If that’s not really related I understand.

  2. Hi Mike,
I have been using a Lyman turret press for two years and like it,but it's getting old pulling the handle 4 times per cartridge. Will use the turret for rifle, but want to upgrade to a progressive for pistol(9mm and 45acp).
I have read many reviews on numerous makes and models of progressives and it seems to me that Dillon has the best reviews and customer satisfaction but at a price point that is hard for me to justify. It seems to me the main complaint I hear on the Lee presses is the priming system. I prime off the press so I am thinking this won't be an issue for me. I have looked at the Loadmaster and the Pro 1000.
I don't know what I would do with 5 stations on the Loadmaster and a 4th station would be nice on the Pro 1000.
I am not a competitive shooter and might load 1,500 to 2,000 rounds a year.
I am asking you these questions because you have a Dillon and a Lee progressive and would appreciate your input.
    Thank you for the help.
    Take care,
    Rob

  3. Hello folks,
I am building a .300 AAC and thus have been researching the conversion of 5.56/.223 brass into .300 AAC for hand loading. What are you guys thoughts on the necessity of annealing the mouths of my cut cases, and on annealing in general? Is the juice worth the squeeze?
    Thanks and happy shooting.

  4. Hey Mike.
I have a suggestion after listening to the last podcast regarding dippers. I'm a big fan of powder dippers and reload for my 30-30 with them a lot. Just thinking maybe you could go over calculating and/or converting cc's to grains using the VMD table for those who might be confused about measuring weight vs volume.
    Keep up the good work!
