Thanks for joining us this week guys. For all of our listeners out there, this weeks is a topic themed show. So we will be getting down and dirt on the specs of AR15s. On the show we will be talking about TractionGrips, FIREClean, Geissele SD-3G and CIV Tactical Muzzlebreaks.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Main Segment

Part I - Dustin’s History

  • When did Dustin get into firearms?
  • Where did you learn everything that you know now?
  • When, what, where and how did Dustin decide to start CIV Tactical?
  • Tell us about CIV TAC - what is the business mindset?
  • What do you consider your forte’?
  • Is there anything you currently do not do as far as gunsmithing goes that you are hoping to do in the future?
  • Why California? Run into any issues because you operate in California?

Part II - AR-15 Building/Gunsmithing

  • Beside's nsz85's upper, what was the worst build you have worked on? Either because it refused to operate or because it was joe-bobbed?
  • Considering that everyone makes mistakes, is there any words of wisdom to new or newer AR-15 builders out there that you can offer to save them from making some of the same mistakes? (for example - have you ever broken the dog ear off during a trigger guard roll pin installation?)
  • AeroShell 33MS - is it the end all to be all grease for barrel nuts and receiver extensions? Have you personally ever seen corrosion on an AR-15 due to improper grease application?
  • Headspace checking. Specifically on an AR-15, is it needed? Why or why not? What are some things to do to fix a headspace issue before sending a barrel or upper back to the manufacturer?
  • Explain different buffer weights and dwell time.
  • Touching on buffers - The system was designed to work with a carbine buffer, why so many different ones now? Thoughts on tungsten powder buffers such as the Spikes ST-T2
  • How does the gas system and barrel length affect how quick the rifle could potentially wear out? Is it true that a carbine gas system will be harder on internal parts than a mid-length gas system?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Segment: Live Audience Questions

In this segment we will be fielding questions from our Live YouTube audience. Want to get your questions answered live? Visit practacpodcast.com for upcoming episodes and times! Also, feel free to email nick@firearmsradio.tv with your question!

  • We understand that CIV Tactical makes custom barrels? Tell us about them and what kind of services you offer.
  • When selecting a barrel, what are some things to look for and some things to avoid?
  • Explain the different type of rifling processes - cold hammer forged, button, etc.
  • Twist rate 101 - the quick and dirty on 1:7 vs. 1:8 vs. 1:9 twist rates and explain what twist rate affects.
  • Specifically to 5.56, what length barrel do you feel would be the most accurate for long range?
  • Barrel break in, is it needed or not. If it is, how to do it?
  • What do you feel is the proper way to clean a barrel?

So let’s move on to our last segment of the show. This is the part of the show where it’s time to start wrapping up another episode of Practically Tactical. Jessica and Kirsten, Thank you so much for coming onto our show this week. So let’s take some time now to discuss what we have coming up with each of us in the near future and where you can find us on the mysterious interwebs...

HGN: I want to give a shoutout to another podcast on the Firearms Radio Network, that probably isn’t what you would call Matt and I’s “Cup of Tea”. I want to talk about Fat2FitHQ. It is an absolute great podcast hosted by Carol Silva. She is a great host that adds quite a bit of fun and her personality to the show. The podcast is about people’s journeys from Fat 2 Fit which is never a bad thing to be in the firearms industry..fit that is. Specifically, people need to check out episode 85 of the show which featured JJ Racaza of Top Shot and competitive shooter fame. Checkout http://www.fat2fithq.com/085/ for the show notes of that episode.

WA: A great podcast I’d recommend to you guys this week is the AR15 podcast. They’ve got a great show over there talking about all things that are AR15. This past week they released episode 69 with an interview with Marty Daniel, President of Daniel Defense. Marty talks about some great stuff going on with Daniel Defense and how the company was originated. You guys can find more out about the AR15 podcast and episode 69 at http://www.ar15podcast.com/069/

WA: Well anyways I’m Matt from the WalkerArmory. I’m your other co-host for Practically Tactical. I enjoy shooting pistol competitions and taking care of my pets. You know...like ant farms, just with worms. I also sold a dead bird to a blind kid once.

  • Scorpionraces - (Being facetious) What started off as a shameless ripoff of the WeLikeShooting format has turned into an informative show that’s fun to listen to. (end being facetious) While HandgunNewbie may take a bit of ribbing from others, it’s his fault. He brings it on himself. He and his co-host Matt have great guests, good humor, and lots of info. Don’t miss this show!
  • Remington.h - This is one of my favorite podcast. I’m a little mad it took me so long to finally find the show and subscribe. The humor is great and gun talk is what makes it so great. I’d also like to add that I love 1911’s when you guys have Peter Palma on as a guest.

HGN: As usual, your co-hosts for this evening are myself and Matt. There is something I want to get off my chest. It’s about that summer, when you went away to community college. I got an offer to do Playgirl Magazine, and I did it. I did a full spread for Playgirl Magazine. I mean spread man...it was weird...I mean you probably didn’t hear about it because I went under the name of Mike Honcho...but I just wanted you to know that...that I spread my buttcheeks as Mike Honcho...

WA:  Well..thanks for the honesty...anyways I am really looking forward to becoming a professional shooter with Nic’s help tonight...I’m putting a lot of eggs into that basket. If that doesn’t work out, i am thinking about just getting a gun and dealing crack. ya know, Being a crack dealer but not a mean crack dealer, but like a nice one. Just kinda friendly, like, hey, what’s up guys, you want some crack?

HGN: Someone didn’t love you enough growing up did they Matt...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WA’s Segment - Shake and Bake

We’re going to start off our first segment of the show tonight with a little bit of shake (HGN: and bake). In this segment we will get to know a little bit about our guests. As Nic as always says, it’s the fastest who get paid, and it’s the fastest who get laid...and trust me...Nic is faster than Ricky Bobby with a live cougar in the backseat.

  • Nick can you tell us about your background….

  • How did you get into firearms?
  • How did you end up in the military?

  • What did you do in the military?
  • What made you decide to become a firearms instructor?

Sam we’ve had you on the show a couple of times before, but can you give us just a brief bit about your background and how you got into firearms?

  • How did you get involved with Cory and Erika?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HGN’s Segment - Pissing Excellence

  • Disadvantages

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HGN’s Segment: Live Audience Questions -

Before we start our first Q&A segment of the show, I am pleased to announce Practically Tactical has our first sponsor! That is right, someone is paying to be advertised on our show. We would like to thank our sponsor Julio’s Thongs for Men...nothing but the best hammocks for your bananas. RangeTime is getting a few pairs of these to do some field testing in...Sam, when will RangeTime be releasing the review on the tactical line of thongs by Julios? Any initial thoughts?

In this segment we will be fielding questions from our Live YouTube audience. Want to get your questions answered live? Visit practacpodcast.com for upcoming episodes and times! Also, feel free to email matt@firearmsradio.tv with your question!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WA’s Segment: Who’s gun line is it anyways?

PracTac Rapid Fire - Ep 21 Nic and Sam Cummins

Normally this is the part of the show where we have our segment Rapid Fire...however, we’re expanding this segment into THREE different games now. The games will be: the classic Rapid Fire, and then we’re also adding Double Tap, and Gun Libs...and the name for our new gun game segment will now be called, Who’s Gun Line is it Anyways...where the questions are made up and the points don’t matter.

So for our first game of the night we’re going to play, RAPID FIRE. The rules of this segment are simple: I will ask you a series of questions and you answer yes or no..there are no explanations allowed...simply a yes or no. HandgunNewbie is going to be tallying up points and will announce the winner at the end of the segment based on your answers. Here we go. Sam are you ready?

Sam:

Do you have flip-up sights on your AR?

Do you like pistol caliber AR’s?

If the name of a beer has the word “light” in it, is it worthy for an operator like yourself to drink?

Is a highpoint better than a sigma?

Is a high point better than a knife?

Does Mayflower make the best chestrigs?

Can you beat Cory in an arm wrestling contest?

Nic:

Is it true that marines kiss and never tell?

Is 9mm better than .40S&W

Will Lou from FGG start crying before Whitey during your training this weekend?

Does surefire make the best overall muzzlebrakes?

Were you a secret squirrel?

If you hear the word tactical one more time, are you going to punch the person closest to you?

Is it true you will call Whitey a “Tactical Muffintop” more than 7 times this weekend?

Double Tap:

Alright let’s move on to the next segment called Double Tap. This game is a little bit different...instead of having a question that is answered with a YES or NO, you will work together to double tap these questions with the first answer that pops in your head one right after the other. You are still not allowed to explain...just the first answer that comes to mind...so both of you will be answering these questions one after the other...again HandgunNewbie will be awarding you points based off of your answers and keeping track of your score. Are you ready?

What is your favorite revolver?

What is your favorite bolt action rifle?

What is your favorite pump shotgun?

What is your favorite red dot non-magnified optic?

What is your favorite rifle caliber?

What is the best CLP?

Favorite flavor of crepes?

If you could build an AR in any caliber other than 5.56, what caliber would it be?

What is your most wanted revolver to shoot that you haven’t yet?

What is your most wanted submachine gun to shoot that you haven’t yet?

Worst firearm a student has brought to your class?

GunLibs:

Alright guys it’s time for our final game segment for the night, GunLibs...instead of having Sam or Nic be the winner of this game...it’s our turn for a little fun...I reward them no points, and God have mercy on their souls. This is a new game segment that we just made up, and that we are going to be playing from now on starting this week...

Remember back in the day when you used to fill out little mad libs books asking for words and nouns? Well, given who our guests are tonight we made it a little easier for them, and a little more fun for us. Lets be honest, most of these gun guys don’t know what an adjective is...And Sam if I ask for a preposition it doesn’t mean I’m hitting on you.

So for this segment. I will be asking you each for one answer to fill in the blank for your mad gun libs that we have written for you this week...

1: Favorite Store - Wawa

2: Mythical Creature - Dragon

3: type of music - punk

4: name something in a park - swings

5: worst Gun ever - sigma

6: favorite color - multicam

7: Number- 69

8: body part - pe**s

9: celebrity - cameran diaz

10: gift you would give to your significant other on valentines day - pearl necklace

11: best quality in a woman - loyalty

Sam and Nic were exiting the (1) store  when suddenly an evil (2) appeared from no-where. Sam and Nic knew that this situations wasn’t going to end well. They both thought back to their time training with the elite marine (3) dance team and used their skills to seek cover behind a (4) and un-holstered their (5) from concealment under their matching (6) turtleneck sweaters. They knew this had to end quickly as they didn’t want to get their favorite shirts dirty. So on the count of (7), they exited from behind the (4) and both started dual wielding their (5). They killed (2) in a flurry of bullets with a critical strike to the (8) and they saved (9), who in turn rewarded them with (10). The day was saved and all was good thanks to Sam and Nic’s (11)

Let’s move on to our next segment, If you ain’t first, you’re last...where we’re going to talk about some cool gear this week that we think is good enough that it should get plastered onto the side of a racecar...If it’s really good we may even sell out our windshield...those logo’s are inconvenient and unsafe...but I do love Fig Newton’s. So let’s discuss some gear that we got this week or saw that impressed us...or didn’t if the case may be...

HGN: Elzetta ZFH1500B AR15 Tactical Flashlight Holder

WA: Butler Creek UpLULA loader

Sam: Switchback from Thrym (Pronounced: Theorem) and Costa Ludus.

Nice job there matt

WA: While you are looking at new podcasts, you guys need to check out Handgun Radio hosted by Ryan Michad. Handgun Radio is a podcast dedicated to all thing handguns! I want to point everyone to episode 36 of their show as they had a really cool show about Forgotten firearms in history! The show featured Ian McCollum of forgottenweapons.com. In the show they covered some really neat, weird, and oddly interesting firearms such as the Landstad 1900...which is a really unique magazine fed revolver...yeah it’s that weird. The theme for this weeks episode is simply the best, and cheesiest, love songs ever written...so I hope you guys love this weeks episode as much as we do...because I want to stand with our guests on a mountain, and I want to bathe with them in the sea...I hope my wife never gets a hold of this...

Our first special guest of the evening is rifle competition shooter Lil Chantilly. She runs the website heelsandhandguns.com and is a long range rifle competitive shooter. One of Lil’s biggest turn ons are brandishing firearms while wearing high heels. The kinds of toys that drive her wild, really reach out to places no man alone can satisfy, are Leupold Optics and the key to her heart is based off the 6mm cartridge. Hows it going Lil? Are you full of regret for coming on the show yet?

WA: Thanks for coming on tonight Lil...should be an awesome show! We are also joined by the world famous pistol competition shooter and co-host of the Shooter’s Mindset Kelli Sampsell . Kelli has an obvious obsession with really big boots, and enjoys spending her down time with a bottle of frog lube cleaning her guns while singing hopeless love songs in her basement...she only does it in her basement though because she can’t carry a tune at all and no one else wants to hear her sing.

HGN: Thanks for joining us this week ladies...and don’t worry Kelli I can’t sing either...but you’re stuck with me for the next hour or so with me trying to sing these cheesy love songs to you, so let’s get this show started. For all of our listeners out there, this weeks show we will be talking about Eotech 512, Rayovac flashlight, Accuracy International Rifles, and Benchmade Knives!

WA: For the new listeners who don’t know, Practically Tactical is a show about guns, gear, and shooting, where each week we feature a special guest or two and sometimes a guest co-host. You can catch our live show on Wednesdays at 7PM CST, or the newest episode of Practically Tactical hit’s iTunes at noon every Sunday.

HGN: Lets start by introducing myself. I am hangunnewbie and you can find me on Youtube, facebook, twitter and instragram, all under handgunnewbie. I have used music as my way of attempting to pick up women...but so far all I have is a broken down truck, a dog that ran away, a broken heart, a drinking problem and an infatuation with Taylor Swift...because I feel like she knows what I’m going through...but for some reason won’t reply to any of my facebook messages, letters, emails, or pictures of myself that I have sent to her so I may have to step up my game a little bit. As usual, I am joined by my co-host Matt. Hows it going Matt?

WA: Hey Everyone I’m Matt from the WalkerArmory...I am your lovely co-host for this evening...I also run a gun youtube channel for WalkerArmory as well as a facebook page and all of the other tweeter instagram social media sites so make sure and go check those out. I first learned to play guitar so that I could play cheesy love songs and win the hearts and souls of the female race, and I can often be found walking down the beach at sunset with my women admirers in trail...and by often I mean never...

Our special guest of the evening is the man, the myth, the beard, TheHossUSMC. He is known as a YouTube celebrity with guns, gear and prepping. HossUSMC has over 360,000 rounds of .22lr stashed across 15 different states and also started growing his beard at the age of 4. Thanks for coming on tonight Hoss how are you doing?!

  • Now you’ve got an awesome YouTube channel that covers a lot of guns, gear, and prepping...can you tell us a little bit about your channel? why you started it? What all exactly do you do videos on?

Basically taking you through the whole process of how we cerakote a firearm showing off all our equipment and tools and also showing off a few projects we have going on.

We also want to do some durability test videos.

Sam: We have some really well priced body armor from two different companies that we will be testing very soon. We have an active giveaway going right now for a Glock 42 in partnership with Top Guns here in Terre Haute, IN. See our facebook page / check the video for details on how to enter. We’ll continue the training on a budget video series we have been doing as well as some more in depth video on the fundamentals of handgun shooting. Come train with us this year, the full schedule is up at www.rangetimets.com. We are also hosting Costa Ludus in May, Armed Dynamics in July, and Haley Strategic in September. (I can expand on all those classes too if you’d like.)
