Week in Review:

Ryan: -Shot a Rock Island Armory Star Model B 9mm and Rock Island Armory 1911 .45 ACP. Really enjoyed them both, the video was fun to do, but the Star Model B bit my hand pretty well.

-Went to Cabelas in Scarbourough. There was a cool magpul display showing all the different stocks that they offer. I also saw some cool pistols; an Astra Cub in .22 Short, Snubnose Colt Lawman, A terribly stippled glock, with even the sides of the trigger stippled. Snubby S&W Pre-Model 10, a Beretta CX4.

-Handled a new R51. It was a little better than I remember the first one being, but not as great as it should feel.

Paul:  Went out to the range to celebrate and got to shoot a lot of different guns. Fell flat in love with the Sig p320

Weerd: Had Megatron, my P38 out to the range today.   It ran better than before, but still not well.   Rounds were porpoising up from the magazine doing a 3-point jam.

I found it was better when I held it in a deathgrip.   I think I need a new magazine

Drink Segment: Today we get three drinks for the price of one.   These drinks are very similar, but all are a little different.  All are equal parts, all use Campari and Vermouth, and a base spirit.   All also can be served either in a cocktail glass, or on the rocks.

The original is the Negroni,  and it is equal parts Gin, Campari, and Red Vermouth

Then there is the Boulevardier which is identical to the Negroni but rather than gin, use bourbon.

Last we have the Old Pal,  this one uses Rye, and dry vermouth rather than sweet, and Campari.

The Negroni and Boulevardier are garnished with an orange rind, and the Old Pal, a lemon twist.

Main Topic: Guns we are looking forward to trying & Paul’s Legal Ordeal

First, Guns that are coming out or have come out, or that we have tried:

Ryan: - Remington R51

Kel Tec CMR 30

Paul: Ruger gp? 100

    Tavor

    H&K vp9 and vp 40

    Want to shoot R51

    Saiga 12 gauge

    FN 5-7

Weerd:

Anything in .460 Rowland

CZ-97 BD

And of course I’m hoping to find a shop that isn’t too scared to transfer my M17S .308 to me.   I’m as positive as anybody can be that the gun being made for me (a crowned barrel without the threads or flash hider) is 100% Mass compliant.

Paul’s Legal Ordeal

Handgun Radio 135 - Handgun Design Disasters Part 4

Hello and welcome to Handgun Radio! I’m your host Ryan Michad from the wild woods of Central Maine, and this is your home for all the news, information and discussion in the handgunning world.

This week, Weerd Beard, Daniel Watters and I discuss some handgun designs that flopped!

Brought to you by the Firearms Radio Network

Please check out the Patriot Patch Company for their awesome patches and other high quality items! Visit www.patriotpatch.co for more information!

Week in Review:

Ryan: Bought Magpul MOE Carbine length foreend for my S&W M&P 15! Really like it. Gives me the ability to mount accessories without having a quadrail.

Saw a Bushmaster Carbon 15….what a monstrosity. Also saw a Vz52. Very cool!

Weerd:  Was checking out a local shop I hadn’t been to before, and look what I found!

http://www.weerdworld.com/2016/megatron-2/

A Walther P38,  been wanting one for ages!

Also my M17S is in the early stages of construction at K&M arms, so I’ll be seeing it soon!

Daniel: I think this may be a magazine intended for the Silent Weapon System - Alpha prototypes on display at the Rock Island Arsenal Museum (Items 5810-5813).

TrackingPoint now has a "precision guided handgun" patent.

Drink Segment: Mint Julep: https://youtu.be/wc7L52omwbU

The key is the Lewis Bag

https://www.amazon.com/Lewis-Ice-Bag-1-11/dp/B009PQ5MWQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1467591368&sr=8-4&keywords=lewis+bag

You can use a blender, or put the ice in a ziplock bag, but the canvas makes a dryer ice that’s awesome.

A little sugar, some fresh mint, shake and strain into a glass FILLED with the crushed ice for a chilly refreshing drink.

Main Topic: Handgun Design Disasters Part Four

We have done a few of these episodes before, but not in this much detail. Daniel deserves all the credit for researching and setting up these categories and guns!

We are going break this up into multiple categories:
a) Guns that were unpopular and didn't sell ()

b) Guns that didn't work, or work reliably ()

c) Guns where the basic concept didn't fly ()

d) Guns that just never got off the ground for legal reasons ()

e) Guns that just never got off the ground for business or technical reasons ()

FYI: The three previous episodes concerning this topic can be found here. http://firearmsradio.tv/handgun-radio/?tag=design
