Handgun Radio 126 - Tools for Tinkering

Hello and welcome to Handgun Radio! I’m your host Ryan Michad from the wild woods of Central Maine, and this is your home for all the news, information and discussion in the handgunning world.

This week, Weerd Beard and I discuss tools for tinkering!

Week in Review:

Ryan- Checked out some cool guns at the gunshop, an American Derringer DA 38, a S&W Model 351C, a Beretta Tomcat 3032. Video going up soon on the Youtube and Facebook page!

Weerd-  Just nothing!   The best I have for this week is the inspiration for the show.

Drink Segment:  https://youtu.be/j2eLPui1r7M The Martinez cocktail.   This is NOT the Martini, but a drink that predates it.    I don’t know the exact history of this, but Robert Hess suspects the Martini may have come out of this drink and the Manhattan.

All I know is it’s good.   1oz Gin,  2oz Sweet Vermouth,  a splash of Luxardo (I’ve been getting a lot of mileage out of this bottle!) and a few dashes of orange bitters,   stirred and served in a cocktail glass.    Traditionally it uses a lemon twist, but I have a ton of grapefruit skin, and I must say it works very well too!

Main Topic: Tools for Tinkering

We all know the gunshop horror stories about messed up screws and scratched finishes, so we figured it would be a good topic to discuss what tools are appropriate for the job and what to look for!

-Proper Screwdriver Set for Gunsmithing

-Bench Blocks for holding the gun secure while driving pins and other things.

-Non-Marring Mallet/Hammer

-Vise with non-marring jaws

-Brass Punch Kit

-1911 Multi-tool

-Sight Pusher
