WHAT DO DEER THINK?

Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a French journalist and animal rights activist. The discussion came around to deer hunting. The journalist asked, "What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one that killed my brother?' "

Nugent replied, "Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next, who am I going to sex with next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.' "

The interview ended at that point.

Armed clerk fights off masked robber, The Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay, Fla. 04/19/15

TAMPA — The robber entered the ABC Liquor store Sunday, pulled a gun and ordered the two clerks to the ground. One of them ignored the command and pulled his own gun.

The clerk fired at the robber, police said, but wasn't sure if he hit his target. The robber fired back, just grazing the clerk in the face.

Then the assailant made what might have been his best decision during the 2:55 p.m. robbery — he fled on foot.

Tampa police said they were still searching for the unidentified robber, who covered the lower part of his face with a towel, wore a black hat, sunglasses and a gray T-shirt over a black, long-sleeve shirt. Police did not say if he got away with any cash during the robbery at the 3707 E Hillsborough Avenue liquor store.

Police using dogs combed an area near the store searching for the suspect. Police said they didn't know if he had a car waiting for him near the store.

The clerk who pulled the gun suffered only a minor injury from the bullet grazing him. A second clerk also suffered a minor injury caused by glass broken by one of the bullets. No customers were in the store during the attempted robbery.

Police did not identify the clerks, both of whom were taken to an area hospital.

The talking Dog A man reading the paper saw an ad selling a talking dog for 10.00 He called the number and the man answered the phone and told him to come over and see him if he wanted.

The man arrived and knocked on the door. The owner answered the door and said the dog was on the side of the house in the fence. Go over and talk to him. Sceptical the man walks over and sure enough there is a dog sitting there. The man asks, so whats your story.

The dog replied, when i was really young i realized i could talk and communicate with humans. I started working for the police department. I soon moved up through the ranks. I found myself working with the CIA. they would put me in a room and listen to suspects and I would report back what I heard.

I finally retired, got married and settled down, had a few pups and here i am.

The man walked back to the front door and told the dogs owner. He is amazing. why are you selling him.

The man replied. He is such a liar, he never did any of that stuff.

My name is Dan, I recently began listening to your podcasts while I work. I am a Truck Driver out of Southern Oregon.

I drive 8-10 hours a day and am left with quite a lot of time to listen to podcasts. Through pure luck your pod cast came up in the top few when I searched for 2nd amendment podcasts. I truly believe it was an act of God.

I lost faith several years ago. I went through some rough times in the military prior to my ets which lead to a divorce. I am now remarried to an amazing christian woman who has tried many times in the past to help me get right with God. I have been less than receptive. I believe I have led her astray in some ways. However after listening to your most recent podcast I could not stop.

I have now listened to several Hours of your podcasts and have decided to go to church. This Sunday will be the first time I have truly attended a sermon in years.

I want to thank you for helping me to realize the great things God is doing on my life. Don't ever stop, you are reaching people and positively affecting their lives. Keep up the good work you two.

Last week a sent you a message via your website. I just realized you have a Facebook page I can message lol. Any who as a follow up my wife and I went to church last Sunday. This was my first time going to church with the intent of worshiping God in years. The sermon was perfect and spoke directly to my soul. The sermon was on an old testament book. The book was a short one by an old testament prophet that spoke to the Hebrew people. The gist is that they have made promises to God and failed. They are sinners and a time of trials is coming. But that God loves them and will use these trials to circumcise their hearts and bring them closer to God and that when the trials were finished they would be brought back to the holy land. Thank you for all you two do. It has made a true change in my life. Thank you.

Right-to-Carry permit holder fells attacker in barbershop, CBS Philly, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/22/15

An altercation erupted inside Falah Barber Shop Inc. in West Philadelphia, Pa., during which one man drew a gun and fired at another person. A Right-to-Carry permit holder was inside the shop at the time of the shooting and responded by drawing a gun and shooting and killing the armed attacker.

Following the incident, Philadelphia Police Captain Frank Llewellyn said of the armed citizen, “He responded and I guess he saved a lot of people in there.” Llewellyn also noted, “There were numerous people in there… so it could have been a lot worse.” (CBS Philly, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/22/15)

NRA Armed Citizen Mother defends herself and daughter from crazed intruder, WTKR, Hampton Roads, Va. 03/12/15

A mother was at home with her young child in Newport News, Va. when a stranger behaving erratically began trying to force his way into the home through a door. Concerned for herself and her daughter’s safety, the mother retrieved a gun and called police. The man eventually broke into the home through a window. The mother responded to the intrusion by shooting the home invader twice. When police arrived the criminal was taken to a local hospital; he is expected to recover.

In explaining the incident to a local media outlet, the mother told a reporter, “All I knew is I wanted to stop him from hurting me or hurting my daughter.” The mother added, “It doesn’t make it too much easier to know that I can totally handle my worst fear… But along the same lines, it makes me feel more confident I was able to do what I needed to do.” (WTKR, Hampton Roads, Va. 03/12/15)

NRA Armed Citizen Concealed Carrying Pharmacist Saves Multiple Lives In West Virginia

A pharmacist in West Virginia reacted to an armed robber threatening his staff this morning by pulling his concealed handgun and firing “several” shots at the gun-toting robber, dropping the violent suspect in his tracks.

The robbery occurred about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Good Pharmacy on North Pinch Road, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department. Deputies said a masked male suspect entered the pharmacy and pointed a firearm at the staff. The pharmacist on duty pulled his own firearm that he was carrying concealed and fired the weapon at the suspect. The suspect was struck and fell onto the pharmacy floor. Staff at the pharmacy then began to perform lifesaving measures on the suspect.

The suspect was transported to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital where he was taken into surgery. The suspect did succumb to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Deputies said the name of the deceased will be released at a later time pending notification to the family. Currently, based upon witness interviews and video evidence charges will not be filed against the pharmacist, deputies said. Video Link Here

 Ray F Facebook Post I like your choice of a Kimber. My Grand Raptor II (bought from Chicago via Gun Broker just to tick off Bloomy) had 800 rounds match ammo through it when it arrived. Since then another 1,200 of various defense and ball. I have only had ONE issue and that was with that dratted TULA drek. It was so sooty and dirty with such a dazzling flash I was accused of shooting black powder indoors. The other issue was the steel cases. I ONLY used Wilson Combat mags. They are the 8 rounders. Anyway if I loaded all 8 it would NOT chamber but if I only loaded 7 it chambered like a champ. Other than that I have yet to see an FTF or stovepipe stoppage. I also grip that thing like King Kong holding the True Cross so maybe that helps. LOL I attribute 99% of 1911 failures to 3 things: bad ammo, bad maintenance and defective magazines. The other 1% is limp wristing.

They said to get my business $530 new. And their store is 2 blocks from my house. Gander Mtn is at $545, another gun store is $550 with a handgun class and a bunch of range time....all new guns. I haven't found a used g30s. I'm looking forward to listening to the next show! Y’all keep up the good work! I been tellin all my buddies to look you guys up! I love y’all!

Brian Hiner was at home in Butler County, Ohio when his dog alerted him to an intruder. Hiner retrieved a gun, went to investigate, and apprehended the home invader. When police arrived, they detained the intruder in a cruiser. However, the criminal managed to escape the vehicle, ran into a cornfield, and eventually invaded another house. 15-year-old Justin Kugler was at home at the time, and responded to the intrusion by retrieving a gun. When Kugler encountered the home invader he told him, “get out of the house or I'm going to shoot you.” Police recaptured the intruder outside the Kugler residence. When interviewed by a local media outlet, Kugler stated, “I feel pretty good about it that I could have saved other people's houses and their property.”

While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found an old stub for some shoes they left at the repair shop 10 years ago. They thought it would be funny to go to the shop and see if the shoes were still there. So they did. They handed the stub to the repair man who took it and looked in the back. He came out again and said, "They'll be ready on Wednesday."

To Be Six Again

George was a thoughtful husband. He wanted to give his wife something special for her birthday which was coming up soon. As he sat on the edge of the bed, he watched his wife turning back and forth and looking at herself in the mirror. "Reta," he said, "What would you like for your birthday?"

His wife continued to look at herself and said, "I'd like to be six again."

George knew just what to do. On the big day, he got up early and made his wife a bowl of Fruit Loops. Then he took her to an amusement park where they rode all the rides. Five hours later, Reta's stomach felt upside down and her head was reeling. Never the less, George took her to McDonald's and bought her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Next, it was a movie with popcorn, soda and her favorite candy.

As Reta wobbled into the house that evening and flopped on the bed, George asked her, "Well, Dear, what was it like to be six again?"

Reta looked up at him. Her expression changed. She said, "I meant my dress size!"

Thanks for taking the time to put that together.  I know it took some time out of your already busy evening.

Things make a lot more sense now.  The controversy I see is some people's definition of "Lordship."  I think some people are using the idea of Lordship as reaching or attaining to a certain level of sanctification.  That is the part I disagree with.  I do believe that after salvation people can go through some very hard times, spiritually, and rebel against God.

I'm glad you made the distinction between people who ARE saved and people who "think" they are saved, and that it is God's job to decide when a person actually receives salvation.  I believe that a person can accept Christ at a young age but go through a rough patch and have a longer rebellious period than others but this does not diminish Jesus' Lordship during that time.  Because Lordship is not conditional on any certain level of sanctification.  If it were, that's when Christianity becomes "works" based.

The parts of this email I've underlined are what I previously thought you were believing, but I understand now that you were sending the message that there are people who "think" they are saved and just living "good lives."

Another verse that sticks out in my mind is 1 Corinthians 5:5 regarding believers in the church who continue to sin even after confronted about it:  "You are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord."

There is a difference between that kind of living and the example you gave of David.  When confronted about his most notable sin, sexual immorality, David repented.  Lordship was in place but his flesh still emerged.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (regarding a list of immoral actions) says this: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

Clerk chases off armed robber, WJCL, Savannah, Ga. 08/25/14

Clerk Rick Patel was working at a Shell Food Mart in Claxton, Ga. when a hooded man approached the counter and attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. Patel responded by retrieving a pistol, which then he used to chase the criminal out of the store. Police suspect the hooded man has committed several other armed robberies. Following the incident, Patel told Savannah’s WJCL, “I don’t like to shoot nobody but when it comes to my life I would. And thank God I didn’t get hurt, I didn’t kill him, otherwise I would have regretted but hey, you made the choice, regrets happen.” In recent years, some convenience store clerks have faced discipline following an act of armed self-defense. In a welcome departure from these instances, the owner of Patel’s store told the TV station, “I’m really proud. Whatever he did I’d like if everybody started doing it that way, robbery will be stopped, especially for convenience stores.”

Acouple of rednecks were fishing at their special pond off the beaten track when out of the bushes jumped the Game Warden.

Immediately, one of the boys threw his rod down and started running through the woods, and hot on his heels came the Game Warden.

After about a half mile the young man stopped and stooped over with his hands on his thighs to catch his breath and the Game Warden finally caught up to him.

"Let's see yer fishin' license, Boy!!" the Warden gasped.

With that, the fella pulled out his wallet and gave the Game Warden a valid fishing license.

"Well, son," said the Game Warden, "you must be about as dumb as a box of rocks! You don't have to run from me if you have a valid license!"

"Yes, sir," replied the young feller, "But my friend back there, well, he don't have one ..."

The Pig

This redneck was parked behind a trailer load of pigs near the zoo in Washington, DC. As the truck drove away--one of the pigs fell out. He walked over and picked the pig up and placed it in the front seat of his truck.

He was sitting there looking puzzled when a policeman walked up and asked what was going on. He told the story and the policeman recommended he take the pig to the zoo.

The redneck was sitting in the same spot the next day with the pig sitting up in the front seat. The cop said "didn't I ask you to take this pig to the zoo?"

The redneck replied "I did and he liked it so well--today I'm taking him to the movies!"

Subject: Historical Irony

Hey Troy, Hey Doug

Thought I'd share an interesting learning experience I had on vacation. Since our family loves history we had gone to Colonial Williamsburg where they have costumed interpreters who interact with the visitors and describe life in the 1700's. We saw several interpreters on the village green earnestly discussing some grave matter. I asked one of them what the unrest was about. "Good Sir, our gunpowder has gone missing from the magazine." he replied, "Without it we are defenseless, thus we are going hence to Lord Dunmore's residence to address the issue."

The issue (in 1775) it seems was that the man appointed by the Crown as Governor of Virginia, Lord Dunmore, feared the rise of the local colonial militias as a threat to his control of the citizenry. So he had ordered the Royal Marines to take the colonist's gunpowder, and with it their ability to defend themselves, from the magazine during the night with orders to place it on British warships several hours away.

Joining the group of visitors and interpreters I walked to the Governor's Place at the far end of the green where, standing behind two armed British Soldiers, we found "Lord Dunmore".  He explained that in fact he’d had the powder removed for our own safety as there were rumors of a possible slave rebellion. If need be he could return the powder to us within a half hour, but that would not be necessary since well-trained British troops were there to protect us.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Here was a lying government official, himself being well guarded by armed troops, wishing to curtail the freedom of the citizens to defend themselves. He then, by dealing in misinformation and citing vague rumors, tried to convince us that it was for our own good that he had covertly sent agents of the government to remove our means of self-defense. Furthermore we should now look to that same government for both fair treatment and protection from harm.

Talk about your historical irony. Back then such actions kick started a revolution. Just something to think about.

Resident fights off three home invaders, KRQE, Albuquerque, N.M. 08/20/14

A man was asleep at home in Albuquerque, N.M. when a trio of armed robbers attempted to gain entry to the residence by claiming that they were police. The criminals ultimately broke down the door and got inside the home. The resident responded by retrieving a gun and firing at the home invaders, striking and killing one, and wounding another. The surviving intruders fled the home, but were later captured by police. The surviving home invaders have been charged with the murder of their accomplice. Albuquerque Police Department Public Information Officer Tanner Tixier shared some advice for would be intruders with local media outlet KRQE, stating, “What people need to understand is if you join your buddy to go commit a felony and your buddy dies you can be the one who gets charged with murder.”

"Andy?" said St. Peter, in shock. "How did you come up with 'Andy'?"

"I learned it in church. We used to sing about it." Forest broke into song, "Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me, Andy tells me I am His own."

St. Peter opened the gate to heaven and said, "Run, Forest, Run!"

My Dad's Better Than Your Dad

Three boys on the playground were bragging about their dads. One said. "My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a song and they pay him 50 bucks."

"Oh, yah. My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a poem and they pay him 100 bucks."

"That's nothin'," said the third kid. My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a sermon and it takes six people to collect all the money!"

Never head into the boonies without these first 5 of the 10 C’s of Survival.

Additionally, a blaze can help you advertise your location to potential rescuers. (3) Cover: A common mistake committed by plenty of outdoor creationists is neglecting to include an emergency shelter in their go-to hiking packs. Even if you’re simply setting out for an afternoon trail hike, you need the ability to quickly erect a precipitation and cold-resistant covering to keep you dry and warm in the event of an unforeseen night out in the backwoods. A poncho, wool blanket, tarp, or even a plastic garbage bag will serve you well.

(4) Container: An ideal container for wilderness use is a 32-oz. stainless-steel water bottle. Staying hydrated is fundamental in an emergency, and you want a durable vessel for storing and carrying water. The high-quality metal additionally allows you to boil water—or melt snow—to render it safe to drink: You don’t want to be dealing with a gastrointestinal malady on top of your other worries.

(5) Cordage: Sure, you can fashion rope from plant materials in the backcountry—but why expend that time and effort if you don’t need to? Carry a good 100 feet of 550 cord, which can assist in a dizzying array of tasks.

THE SECOND FIVE C’S OF SURVIVAL

In the event of contingencies in the wilderness, the remaining five items of the 10 C’s of Survival can be immensely helpful to have on hand.

(6) Candle: It’s all too easy to forget about an illumination source when preparing for a day on the trail. If you’re stranded for whatever reason, the onset of night is a real threat: You can quickly hurt yourself fumbling around in the dark for kindling or water. Having more than one source of light is best—a headlamp is particularly convenient, but bring candles along as well.

(7) Cotton: It’s no weight or space burden to stuff a few cotton cloths or bandannas in your pack—a level of convenience that belies the versatility they display in the backwoods. From bandages to signaling flags, from fire-starters to head coverings, cotton bandannas are deceptively multi-use.

(8) Compass: There are plenty of methods for orienting yourself in the wilderness, from keying into

the wheel of constellations to tracking the sun’s shadow. But bringing along a durable compass with a sighting mirror gives you an unfailing tool for precise navigation—one that readily doubles as a signaling mirror.

(9) Cargo Tape: From injuries to pack malfunctions, a roll of duct tape serves as many functions in the backcountry as it does in the garage.

(10) Canvas Needle: Also called a sail needle, this little tool can be employed to repair clothing or shelters, act as a makeshift compass, dislodge nasty splinters, and for other delicate, high-precision operations.

Remember, the “survival weapons” of the 10 C’s of Survival only work when combined with the knowledge and presence-of-mind to put them to use. If you can stay calm and ward off panic—commonly your greatest threat in the wilds—you can use this basic equipment to keep yourself alive, healthy, even contented, until help arrives.

A psychiatric patient armed with a revolver and several rounds of ammunition entered Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa. for a scheduled appointment. The patient then proceeded to fire upon hospital staff, killing one woman and wounding Dr. Lee Silverman. Silverman responded to the rampage by retrieving a pistol and firing at the patient. Three of Silverman’s shot struck the patient which allowed for other hospital employees to detain the killer. Following the incident, Silverman has been hailed as a hero. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan stated, “If Dr. Silverman did not have the firearm and did not utilize the firearm, he’d be dead today… and other people would be dead.”

It's been a while since I have written and I have heard you asking for feedback or listener letters so here you go! My God activities for the week have been reading my Duck Commander devotional (have been reading since Nov '13)  and this week I get to usher at church. Gun activities I found a new local gun shop and was VERY impressed to find that it was a female owner. I also picked up a Taurus pt745 pro fairly cheap. In more personal news my wife and I found out we will be having twin boys in November which will put us up to 3 boys in the house. So I am sure we will be buying BB guns like crazy before too long! I do have something I found out with my wife's pregnancy that is gun related. Our doctor took her off shooting in her 18th week as it can cause hearing damage in the babies. So I just wanted to share that with listeners. Keep up the great work and I look forward to hearing the new shows!

PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - A home invasion and robbery in Pasco County is exposing some problems in the 911 dispatch system. It happened earlier this week on Gwain Road in Port Richey. A man called 911 after four robbers with guns broke into his home, demanded money and prescription drugs. The dispatcher tried to transfer the call from the fire department to law enforcement side of things – but he got a voicemail just as the crooks returned to the home. Chaos ensues. The man takes matters into his own hands and shoot one of the robbers. He then tells the dispatcher that he's been robbed, and two women in the home were physically hurt. The county released a timeline showing deputies were dispatched more than three and a half minutes after the original call, but they say the transfer problems didn't slow down their response. They also say steps are being taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again, although they didn't clarify what those steps are. As for the robbers, three of them have been caught, including the guy who was shot by the homeowner. Blond Painter Julie, the blonde, was getting pretty desperate for money. She decided to go to the nicer, richer neighborhoods around town and look for odd jobs as a handy woman. The first house she came to, a man answered the door and told Julie,"Yeah, I have a job for you. How would you like to paint the porch?" "Sure that sounds great!" said Julie. "Well, how much do you want me to pay you?" asked the man. "Is fifty bucks all right?" Julie asked. "Yeah, great. You'll find the paint and ladders you'll need in the garage." The man went back into his house to his wife who had been listening. "Fifty bucks! Does she know the porch goes all the way around the house?" asked the wife. "Well, she must, she was standing right on it!" her husband replied. About 45 minutes later, Julie knocked on the door."I'm all finished," she told the surprised homeowner. The man was amazed. "You painted the whole porch?" "Yeah," Julie replied, "I even had some paint left, so I put on two coats!" The man reached into his wallet to pay Julie. "Oh, and by the way," said Julie, "That's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."

For the Sick A little girl was in church with her mother when she started feeling ill. "Mommy," she said, "can we leave now?" "No" her mother replied. "Well, I think I'm gonna be sick, Momma!" "Then go out the front door and around to the back of the church and then behind a bush." After about 60 seconds the little girl returned to her seat. "Were you sick?" her mom asked. "Yes." "How could you have gone all the way to the back of the church and returned so quickly?" "I didn't have to go out of the church, Mommy. They have a box next to the front door that says, 'For the Sick'."

NRA Armed Citizen Central Florida News, Orlando, Fla.

82-year-old Charles Robbins was asleep at home in Daytona Beach Florida, when a burglar wearing a mask and carrying a hammer and screw driver attempted to break in through the front door. After awakening to the criminal’s attempts to break the front door lock with the screwdriver, Robbins retrieved a handgun, shot the criminal through the door and then called 911. The wounded burglar tried to flee, but barely made it off Robbins’ porch before collapsing dead. Local law enforcement has been supportive of Robbins’ actions, with Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood stating, “The homeowner did something the criminal justice system couldn’t do with this guy… We’re familiar with the burglar. So I am doing 15-20 minutes a day on the book and workbook and then prayer. Guns: We hosted Gun Guy Radio Last Saturday, Just EDC, SIRT Training Pistol Dry fire at home and Office, clearing rooms, Training Cards and fast target acquisition. Cleaned “Puff” after some range time.

Last Sunday, the pastor of a local church began his sermon with a supposedly true story...

"I was on a plane last week, flying from Chicago to California, when we ran into some very severe turbulence. As it got worse, the passengers became more and more alarmed, and finally even the flight attendants began to look concerned. Finally, one of them noticed that I had "REV." in front of my name on the passenger list came over to me and said, "Sir, this is really frightening. Do you suppose you could ... I don't know ... do something religious?"

Hey guys, I have a suggestion for a show topic. Christians are a lot like discerning gun owners, in the they are very particular about their Bibles. And like gun owners, Christians will almost always have more than one in their possession, for a multitude of purposes or reasons. Maybe there is the family heirloom Bible on the shelf, the highlighted and marked-up Bible in the night stand, a free Bible handed out by a local church or organization, the Bible app on their phone, etc. I personally have three paper copies: my large study Bible that my wife gave me on our wedding day (I'm convinced that it could serve as physical armor as much as spiritual armor), a leather thin-line Bible to take to work and church (EDC), and a compact BoB (Bug-out Bible) that I keep with my emergency supplies. How many Bibles do you own? And like what you put in your firearms, Christians get very opinionated about what is in their Bibles. What's in yours? KJV? NIV? ESV? Of course, most will agree that, like firearms, (almost) any version of the Bible is better than not having one at all.

I'll save my testimony for another time but I thought that would be good enough to start. Keep up the good work and I look forward to listening every week!

Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)

13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

“A” is Admit. You must admit to God that you are a sinner. You must be sorry for your sins and turn away from sinning.  Verses that support this step are:

  • Romans 3:23
    • for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
  • Romans 6:23
    • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Acts 3:19
    • Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
  • 1 John 1:9
    • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

“B” is for Believe.  You must believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that God sent Jesus to pay       the penalty for sin. Verses about believing include:

    • Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

“C” is for Confess. You must confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read the        following verse:

    • 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved…. 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

After you admit to God that you are a sinner, repent and turn from your sin, believe that Jesus is God’s Son sent to die to pay for the sins of the world, and confess your faith in Jesus, you are a Christian and know Jesus as your Savior.

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible -- Psalm 23.  She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse.  Little Bobby was excited about the task, but he just couldn't remember the Psalm.  After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.  On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Bobby was so nervous.  When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my shepherd . . . and that's all I need to know!"

When a mother saw a thunderstorm forming in mid-afternoon, she worried about her seven-year-old daughter who would be walking the three blocks from school to home.  Deciding to meet her, the mother saw her daughter walking nonchalantly along, stopping to smile whenever lightning flashed.  Seeing her mother, the little girl ran to her, explaining happily, "All the way home, God's been taking my picture!"

NRA Armed Citizen 22-year-old woman scares off mace-wielding robber, KCCI, Des Moines, Iowa 05/23/14

22-year-old Jessica McDonald, an employee of Discount Textbooks in Fort Dodge, Iowa, had just opened up the store when a man entered and demanded that she hand over the cash in the register. McDonald responded by showing the robber that the register was empty, at which point the man threatened her with mace. Following the threat, McDonald retrieved a handgun from a safe under the counter and pointed it at the criminal, causing him to flee. Store Manager Paul Tigges told a local media outlet that the pistol is kept under the counter for employees to use. In an interview after the incident, McDonald told the media outlet, “It was shocking to me when I started here that there is a gun and I always thought it was over the top and we didn’t need it, but I’m very glad that we have it.”

Good evening Gentlemen,

My name is Peter, and I have been listening to your show for about the last 6 months.  I have previously contacted you through facebook, and mentioned how I had introduced your show to a couple of my fellow AWANA workers as well as our youth minister.

I am writing to you today to ask for your advice regarding a situation that has come up in my church.  Tonight we had a going away party for our youth leader and his wife.  They are moving away from the metro area to a small town in the northern part of the state, where Derek has taken a position with the local fire department as an EMT.  While talking to Derek about his plans, and who would be taking over his position, I was asked if I was interested in helping out.  I have been involved in the children's ministry at the church for the last 5 years, first helping with Vacation Bible School as an all around assistant, and then with AWANA as a listener with T&T, and then as an assistant and finally leader of rec time.

While my wife and I enjoy helping the children, we both have felt burnt out and were planning on taking the next year off from service.  Tonight's events make me feel like I am still being called to serve, but I feel that I am in no way qualified to serve in a position with such responsibility.

My Life has been a series of ups and downs for the last 8 years.  I served 12 years as a law enforcement officer, before that was taken away because of a trainee accusing me of trying to shoot him.  During the investigations and subsequent legal battle,(altogether nearly 4 years)  this individual made claims under oath that were untrue, and even changed his story on several occasions.  Also, witness testimony, while not completely refuting his statements, did not exactly back up my side of the story.  It was during this time that I accepted Christ as my savior, and asked for his guidance.  I eventually felt that the best option for me and my family was to stop fighting and accept a misdemeanor plea bargain and take probation.

Despite my past, I have been welcomed by my church, and entrusted with the care and guidance of the children.  While I have read the Bible, and participate in study groups, I am in no way prepared to lead.  What advice would you give a person in my position.  I feel it is right to help, but I don't want to hinder the growth of the ministry, or worse be the cause of its undoing because of my past or inexperience.

Hello Troy,

My name is Tom Buckley and I live in Lexington. I started listening to your podcast a couple months ago and I really look forward to listening each week. I am in the process of going back and catching up on the older episodes now too.

I usually carry one of two guns, either my SIG P938 or my 3" Kimber Master Carry Series Ultra 1911 - which is my first laser equipped gun. Like most serious CCDW holders I am liking, then not liking, then looking always for different holsters - more so than actual guns!

I am a brother of yours in Christ, and as you would imagine I enjoy guns as well.

In fact I insure a number of gun related & outdoor sports businesses - I am a Property & Casualty Insurance agent

We have a house down at Lake Cumberland, and down there is where I shoot the most. I'm not a big hunter, but mostly shoot for fun and also am a CCDW license holder. I don't know how close you are to Russell Springs, but if you ever want to come by on a weekend day we also shoot at a couple different farms down there where we can set up a good amount of targets, and just have a little fun.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy, as well as appreciate, what you guys do on the podcast!

Today I am writing to get you opinion on a matter that involves God and, well not so much guns, but shooting. I am a photographer in Charleston, SC and I keep listen to several photography podcasts. I recent New Mexico court case has brought to light once again the debate of gay rights. Here is the link to the news article from the Christianity Today website:

To give just an overview, the photographer was sued for refusing to shoot a same sex wedding. I am fully aware of God's view on same sex couples so my question is; does that view extend to business transactions? Troy, I know you are in sales, would you refuse to sell to someone that is married to someone of the same sex? And, if all sin is equal in the eyes of our Lord, and Jesus said “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” are we to condemn and alienate homosexuals for that?

I guess I should have prefaced this email with letting you know that my questions are not directed to create a debate on the matter. I bring it to you guys in hopes of finding the middle ground between the rights of the photographer and the rights of the couple. I reckon that this is the cross roads that every country with freedoms have to face, the separation of church and state. I also am aware of what I would have done if I were the photographer. I guess to sum up my question, what is the biblical stance of being in that situation? Would it have been wrong in God's eyes if she had shot the wedding?

I couldn't wait for the Pistol Packing Preachers episode and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

One thing I wanted to mention about IL CCW laws is that places of worship are only considered private property, and as such, unless they post the official signage at the entrance (which looks like this https://ccl4illinois.com/ccw/Public/Signage.aspx, you are legally allowed to carry.

My church does not have a sign posted, but I am pretty sure that this is due to ignorance. That being said, I'm a bit torn on whether to talk to my pastor about CCW or not. If I proactively ask the pastor about the subject, it will most likely open up a can of worms. Maybe that is a discussion that has to happen in the future, but right now, ignorance is bliss. Do you guys think that people should notify their pastors that they are carrying in church?

If a pastor asked either of you to disarm yourself before coming to church, would you respect the pastor's wishes, move churches, or do 'concealed is concealed'? I guess this would also depend on how long you've been attending that particular church.

Wanted to give a report on my latest God & Guns activity. My wife and I invited several young families with kids to join us for a weekend at a friend's deer camp. (Deer camp? Jeez this place is nicer than my house) My youngest daughter helped the kids learn & archery and to use the BB gun. I helped the adults learn to shoot using our faithful lever action .22 Henry. WE had some nice hikes and talks around the campfire. On Sunday morning My lovely bride & I lead a devotional/sharing time.

After we got back a girl in one family joined the National Archery in Schools Program Team at their school and another family went out and bought a Daisy for their their son & daughter.

We had a fine time together enjoying the outdoors & shooting sports but most importantly we were able to show God's love to some good folks.

Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!  Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?  But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,  and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.  I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.     For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.  But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? NRA Armed Citizen Veteran kills armed robber, KPRC, Houston, Texas, 05/29/14

A 28-year-old veteran was having lunch at a Quiznos in Houston, Texas when he spotted two men mask themselves and then enter a GameStop. The veteran retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and went to confront the criminals as they exited the store. One of the robbers aimed a firearm at the veteran, prompting the armed citizen to fire. During an exchange of gunfire, one of the robbers was struck and killed, while the other fled the scene.

The deceased robber’s accomplice was captured by police a short time later. (KPRC, Houston, Texas, 05/29/14)

Hunting Trip  

A young man from the city went to visit his farmer uncle. For the first few days, the uncle showed him the usual things - chickens, cows, crops, etc. After three days, however, it was obvious that the nephew was getting bored, and the uncle was running out of things to amuse him with.

Finally, the uncle decided to give them a real treat. "Why don't you grab a gun, take my prized hunting dogs, and go have some fun shooting?" This seemed to cheer the nephew up, and with enthusiasm, off he went, dogs in trail.

After a few hours, the nephew returned.

"How did you enjoy that?" asked the uncle.

Holy Dog

An avid duck hunter was in the market for a new bird dog. His search ended when he found a dog that could actually walk on water to retrieve a duck. Shocked by his find, he was sure none of his friends would ever believe him. He decided to try to break the news to a friend of his, the eternal pessimist who refused to be impressed with anything. This, surely, would impress him.

He invited him to hunt with him and his new dog. As they waited by the shore, a flock of ducks flew by. they fired, and a duck fell. The dog responded and jumped into the water. The dog, however, did not sink but instead walked across the water to retrieve the bird, never getting more than his paws wet. This continued all day long; each time a duck fell, the dog walked across the surface of the water to retrieve it. The pessimist watched carefully, saw everything, but did not say a single word.

On the drive home the hunter asked his friend, "Did you notice anything unusual about my new dog?" "I sure did," responded the pessimist. "He can’t swim!"

SPOKANE, Wash. -After the third robbery in a month Sunday night, the owner of Spokane's Jitterz Java on Northwest Boulevard has had enough and says the next person to try may end up face to face with a gun.

Sara Chapel says some of her employees are already bringing their own guns to work, no matter what shift they are working. But after Sunday, they were will always be a gun at the coffee stand.

In the most recent burglary, a man aggressively tried to open a window at the stand and appeared to have a gun. The barista kept the window locked, grabbed her gun and called police. The man took off before police arrived.

"It is just a little aggravating, you know, people are just out for themselves these days," said Chapel. "It's just sad to put other people in harms way to just get a few hundred dollars."

Police say the suspect is described as a white man in his 30's, around 5' 10" with a medium build, dark hair and a goatee.

I share your concern about the "Twist" the media puts on things and how they not so tactfully push their opinions and agenda.  However, I think you were a bit short sighted and unfair in episode 53, "Range Rules, Safety & Etiquette".  You complained about the press reporting that the Chicago PD was conducting their investigation into the off duty Officer involved shooting as a homicide investigation.  I believe they were probably reporting exactly what Chicago PD told them.

Every death investigation and shooting investigation is conducted as a homicide investigation until proven otherwise.  In fact, the off duty shooting was in fact a homicide - a justifiable homicide.  There are several kinds of homicide - Justifiable Homicide, Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, Involuntary Manslaughter and Vehicular Manslaughter.   Justifiable Homicide and Murder are intentional acts.  All three types of Manslaughter are unintentional. Only Justifiable Homicide is legal, the others are prohibited.

Every investigation is conducted the same way so that all the evidence is collected and preserved.  A homicide investigation is intended to determine if there was a crime or not and to prove either innocence or guilt.

I agree that the mainstream media targets gun owners and that "Evil" Second Amendment.  But we must be fair and informed when commenting on them was well.

Troy, I have been listening to the GNG podcasts from Podcast #1 on. I am now up to #51. I was in tears listening to your testimony about your neck injury and its unrelenting pain, followed by the loss of your job, home, and finances....and finally your pride. God allowed something similar to happen to me in the early 2000s. I was a high-paid executive at a Fortune 50 company and was RIFed in the Tech Meltdown after 17+ years with the company. Thinking to secure my future, I took the large severance payment along with a an inheritance given to me by my mother and bought 1/3 of a national mfg. company that my neighbor owned (I knew him for 10 years). After about 2 years, my partner bled me dry financially, and when I finally cut off the money, he booted me out of the company. I was broke, jobless, and over 50 years old in a poor job market. It finally brought me to my knees and I threw myself onto the Lord's mercy. Thankfully, to the glory of our Lord, He directed me to self-employment consulting with local governments and a part-time job working for Christian owners of the newest gun range in North Texas. My savings have been replenished and my wife and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. More importantly, I maintain a humble spirit by joyfully cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping up brass, and mopping the floors at the gun range, even though I am now a manager there. I am blessed that the Lord has restored me, spiritually and financially, and he even led us to reconnect with one of our neighborhood couples who led us to Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX, which has become our home of worship. I just wanted you to know how your testimony resonated with me. I listen to all the podcasts and consider them a blessing. I pray for you and Doug to continue with this ministry and for our Lord to bless you and your families.

St. Peter turned to the garbage man and, figuring Heaven didn't *really* need all the odors that this guy would bring with him, decided to make the question a little harder: "How many people died on the ship?"Fortunately for him, the trash man had just seen the movie. "1,228," he answered."That's right! You may enter."

St. Peter turned to the lawyer. "Name them."

Of course we know there is only one question and answer at the judgement.

A Christian Puppy

A Baptist couple decide that they want to get a dog. As they are walking down the street in town, they notice that a sign in the pet shop is advertising "Christian Puppies." Their interest piqued, they go inside.

"How do you know they're Christian puppies?"

"Watch," says the owner, as he takes one of the dogs and says, "Fetch the Bible." The dog runs over to the desk, and grabs the Bible in its mouth and returns. Putting the Bible on the floor, the owner says, "Find Psalm 23." The dog flips pages with its paw until he reaches the right page, and then stops. Amazed and delighted, the couple purchase the dog and head home.

That evening, they invite some friends over and show them the dog, having him run through his Psalm 23 routine. Impressed, one of the visitors asks "Does he also know 'regular' commands?"

"Gee, we don't know. We didn't ask," replies the husband.

Turning to the dog, he says, "Sit." The dog sits. He says, "Lie down." The dog lies down. He says "Roll over." The dog rolls over.

He says "Heel." The dog runs over to him, jumps up on the sofa, puts both paws on the owner's forehead and bows his head.

"Oh look!" the wife exclaims. "He's PENTECOSTAL!"

I started listening to your podcast last week.  I downloaded a few of the old episode first.  When I listened to them, I enjoyed them very much.  The mixture of Bible verses, gun and gear information, and Chuck Norris jokes was great.  I was glad to hear your personal testimony which were very refreshing. You make a great addition to my regular list of weekly podcasts.

I wanted to add something to the holster discussion.  You did not mention Concealment Solutions holsters.  I carry a 9mm M&P Shield with a Black Mamba holster from Concealment Solutions.  It is very comfortable, even when worn for long periods.  I highly recommend it.   • Barter - Items that will be valuable when  the dollar and credit cards are worthless
  • Skills - Things you know that you could do if the economy tanks, if not learn new skills
  • Cache - have you things spread out not in one location, along the way to you bug-out retreat.
  • Medical - Medicine Where there is no doctor, store medicines and first aid items
  • Transportation - Grid down, roads out, how are you going to be mobile?
  • Community - Get like minded people together for mutual support and skill sets
  • Charity - What will you be able to give should orphans and widows come to you in need?

A woman was heading inside after pulling her car into the garage at her Detroit, Mich. home when a man armed with a gun attempted to rob her. In response, the resident, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, drew a gun and shot the attacker, killing him. The shooting marked the third recorded incident in a week in which armed Detroit residents defended themselves from criminal attack. This string of defensive gun uses follows a late-January statement by Detroit Police Chief James Craig, in which the he noted, “I did, in fact, say that good Americans, good Detroiters, if responsible, could get CPLs, and that it could — emphasis on the word ‘could’ — be a deterrent to violent crime. I said that because of my experience in four cities, having seen good Americans and good Detroiters that have CCWs, and what effect it has had on deterring violent crime.”
