This Weeks  God and Gun activities:

Doug - Did my daily devotionals. Currently using the Piper devotional for my iPhone. I was able to get a little 22 ammo today. 100 rounds.

Troy: God: Teaching Sunday School, Preparing for Bible School, Daily Devotional Made the Foundations (System Theology) by R.C. Sproul my Devotional because my time is limited by other activities. So I am doing 15-20 minutes a day on the book and workbook and then prayer. Guns: We hosted Gun Guy Radio Last Saturday, Just EDC, SIRT Training Pistol Dry fire at home and Office, clearing rooms, Training Cards and fast target acquisition. Cleaned “Puff” after some range time.

Comedy Corner:

Last Sunday, the pastor of a local church began his sermon with a supposedly true story...

"I was on a plane last week, flying from Chicago to California, when we ran into some very severe turbulence. As it got worse, the passengers became more and more alarmed, and finally even the flight attendants began to look concerned. Finally, one of them noticed that I had "REV." in front of my name on the passenger list came over to me and said, "Sir, this is really frightening. Do you suppose you could ... I don't know ... do something religious?"

"So I took up a collection."

A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17."

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said,

"Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."

Subject: What Bible are you packing?

Message Body:

Hey guys, I have a suggestion for a show topic. Christians are a lot like discerning gun owners, in the they are very particular about their Bibles. And like gun owners, Christians will almost always have more than one in their possession, for a multitude of purposes or reasons. Maybe there is the family heirloom Bible on the shelf, the highlighted and marked-up Bible in the night stand, a free Bible handed out by a local church or organization, the Bible app on their phone, etc. I personally have three paper copies: my large study Bible that my wife gave me on our wedding day (I'm convinced that it could serve as physical armor as much as spiritual armor), a leather thin-line Bible to take to work and church (EDC), and a compact BoB (Bug-out Bible) that I keep with my emergency supplies. How many Bibles do you own? And like what you put in your firearms, Christians get very opinionated about what is in their Bibles. What's in yours? KJV? NIV? ESV? Of course, most will agree that, like firearms, (almost) any version of the Bible is better than not having one at all.

I'll save my testimony for another time but I thought that would be good enough to start. Keep up the good work and I look forward to listening every week!

God bless,

Weekly Bible Verses

Gospel Message

Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)

13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

“A” is Admit. You must admit to God that you are a sinner. You must be sorry for your sins and turn away from sinning.  Verses that support this step are:

  • Romans 3:23
    • for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
  • Romans 6:23
    • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Acts 3:19
    • Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
  • 1 John 1:9
    • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

“B” is for Believe.  You must believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that God sent Jesus to pay       the penalty for sin. Verses about believing include:

  • John 3:16
    • For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • John 14:6
    • Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
  • Romans 5:8
    • But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“C” is for Confess. You must confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read the        following verse:

  • Romans 10:9-10,13
    • 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved…. 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

After you admit to God that you are a sinner, repent and turn from your sin, believe that Jesus is God’s Son sent to die to pay for the sins of the world, and confess your faith in Jesus, you are a Christian and know Jesus as your Savior.

Independence Day

  1. Origin
  2. Meaning
  3. Significance

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever." ~ John Adams --Adams wrote this in a letter to his wife, Abigail, on July 3, 1776.

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian." ~ George Washington --The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be." ~ John Adams --Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, p. 9.

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us." ~John Hancock (1st Signer of the Declaration of Independence) --History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229.

"The hope of a Christian is inseparable from his faith. Whoever believes in the divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures must hope that the religion of Jesus shall prevail throughout the earth. Never since the foundation of the world have the prospects of mankind been more encouraging to that hope than they appear to be at the present time. And may the associated distribution of the Bible proceed and prosper till the Lord shall have made 'bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God' (Isaiah 52:10)." ~ John Quincy Adams (6th U.S. President) --Life of John Quincy Adams, p. 248.

Comedy Corner:

  1. A hat was passed around a church congregation to take up an offering for the visiting minister.Presently, it was returned to him...embarrassingly empty. Slowly, the preacher inverted the hat and shook it meaningfully. Then, raising his eyes heavenward, he exclaimed, "I thank you, Lord, that I got my hat back from this congregation."

  1. The Sunday School Teacher asks, “Now, Johnny, tell me frankly do you say prayers before eating?” “No sir,” little Johnny replies, I don’t have to. My mom is a good cook.”

  1. After church one Sunday morning, a mother commented, "The choir was awful this morning." The father commented, "The sermon was too long." Their 7-year-old daughter added, "You've got to admit it was a pretty good show for a dollar."

Ricky McMurdo Says,

“G’day Troy, Listening all the way over here in Australia and just wanted to thank you for the great job you are doing with the podcast. I think Doug is a great addition to the podcast as a co-host and I am looking forward to any future podcasts you do together. As a relatively new Christian I have found this podcast especially helpful, it is great to gain a Christian perspective on firearms ownership among other important aspects of life. Unfortunately due to financial constraints I will not be able to gain a hold of any firearms here soon, however one day I hope to enjoy the freedoms that you have in America by becoming an American citizen. Thanks again for the great work you are doing and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.”

Shawn Merrill says

Enjoy The Weekly Podcasts. I've truly enjoyed listening to the podcasts recently with Troy and my good buddy Doug. The stories and experiences you both share are interesting and the passages from the Bible you share each week are uplifting as well as a blessing! Keep up the great job and God bless!

Weekly Bible Verse:

Hebrews 12: 11-17 (ESV)

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.

What the World needs more of! (5 Stars)

by Upcold

I look forward to this podcast every week. I live in NW MN and we always have a distance to drive to get to anything, especially work. I use this podcast to get my week ready and make my 40 minute commute enjoyable. You are truly doing God’s work as faithful Christians. If only more people were educated about guns and even more importantly following Jesus our society would make much more sense. Onward Christian Soldiers!

God,Guns and Chuck Norris Jokes (5 Stars)

by MamiyaPhotog85

I have listened to a few episodes and have loved the content. I was looking for a podcast that covered these two topics and this one fit. I would like to see more God content in a devotional and prayer context. The daily verse is good just want more. I hope to see more hunting context in the future. Not a big fan of the Chuck Norris jokes, just never have been, I guess I’m an odd ball like that! Keep up the great work, and may God bless you in this journey!

Weekly Bible Verse:

You Must Be Ready - Luke 12: 35-40

35 “Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, 36 and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will dress himself for service and have them recline at table, and he will come and serve them. 38 If he comes in the second watch, or in the third, and finds them awake, blessed are those servants! 39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.”

Great show as always.  This e-mail may be a little long & you don't have to bore the listeners with it.  I just want to say I am loving that time each week to talk about God & Guns.  I am blessed to have a Pastor who is a huge gun guy & we have had many talks of God & guns.

On the God talk & your format:

I am really enjoying your format & the way you discuss these topics with authority & grace.  I have been a Sunday School teacher for years & love teaching the Bible with the anointing of His Spirit.  Don't be afraid to speak the truth in love, we need to hear it & need to live it.  I have to also say I have been stealing some of your jokes for my own comedy corner for my 20's Sunday School class.  They are enjoying the icebreakers to get the class rolling.  We need responsible gun owners & I like how you add that to your show.

-Matt says:

“I have been listening to your podcast recently and have really enjoyed it.  It is easy to let guns (or any current obsession) get in the way of our relationship with God and family.  I appreciate your focus on the bible and priorities.  Thanks for your ministry, and keep up the good work.”

Weekly Bible Verse: James 4:11-12

11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister[d] or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?” (NIV)
