Day After Christmas The pastor was looking over the manger scene the day after Christmas when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing. He went outside and saw a little boy pulling a new red wagon. In the wagon was Jesus.

We walked up to the boy and said, "Hi, there. Where did you get the baby Jesus?"

The boy answered honestly, "In the church."

"Why did you take him?" the pastor asked.

"Well," said the boy, "I prayed to the Lord Jesus and asked him for a wagon for Christmas. I told Him that if He gave me one, I'd take Him for a ride in it."

Subject: A new Chuck Norris fact

Hey guys,  I've been listening to you from day 1.  I look forward for each podcast to come out.  We share the same passions, Christ and Guns.

I have a Chuck Norris fact that I don't think has been told. "When Chuck Norris cleans his deadly weapons, he simply washes his hands."

Keep on sharing the Word and giving Him Glory.

Bible Verses

DO GOOD IN SUFFERING (1 PET. 4:12-19).

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. Unity with Believers and God

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.” (Eph. 2:19-22)

And now God dwells in us. Who are we? We are the temple of God. We are the sanctuary and dwelling place of God, built upon the foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ for the glory of our great King. As God’s temple, we look forward to the day when the whole earth is filled with the presence of God.

NRA Armed Citizen Mother defends herself and daughter from crazed intruder, WTKR, Hampton Roads, Va. 03/12/15

A mother was at home with her young child in Newport News, Va. when a stranger behaving erratically began trying to force his way into the home through a door. Concerned for herself and her daughter’s safety, the mother retrieved a gun and called police. The man eventually broke into the home through a window. The mother responded to the intrusion by shooting the home invader twice. When police arrived the criminal was taken to a local hospital; he is expected to recover.

In explaining the incident to a local media outlet, the mother told a reporter, “All I knew is I wanted to stop him from hurting me or hurting my daughter.” The mother added, “It doesn’t make it too much easier to know that I can totally handle my worst fear… But along the same lines, it makes me feel more confident I was able to do what I needed to do.” (WTKR, Hampton Roads, Va. 03/12/15)

From: Michael Chan Subject: Feedback Dear Troy and Doug,

Thanks for your show, guys. I've been listening for quite a while now and appreciate your willingness to engage with the (sometimes) thorny issues that emerge at the intersection of guns and faith. The last interview with Dr. Baldwin was particularly interested. As a Christian gun owner, who also happens to be a professor of Old Testament, I always appreciate it when people are willing to deal with these challenging topics from a faith perspective. You guys do this with sincerity, rigor, and joy. Thank you.

Was slowly warming up to this show until the seemingly funny story about one of the guys putting their wife up a bobcat bucket with a chainsaw cutting branches at night in shorts and flip flops!! Funny? NO! This is the most irresponsible dangerous thing that I can think of for a husband to get his wife to do! Really very sad as this feeds some peoples stereotypes of a "dumb Christian bumbkin". No different than checking if your barrel is obstructed before checking if it is unloaded first! Count me out, I will support a podacst that has safety foremost and enough care and love for his wife not to put her into such a dangerous situation.

Weekly Bible Verses

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Then Peter said in reply, “See, we have left everything and followed you. What then will we have?” Jesus said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me  will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive a hundredfold and will  inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and the last first. Matthew 19: 24-30 (ESV)

Top Ten Reasons Eve Was Created 10. God was worried that Adam would frequently become lost in the garden because he would not ask for directions. 9. God knew that one day Adam would require someone to locate and hand him the remote. 8. God knew Adam would never go out and buy himself a new fig leaf when his wore out and would therefore need Eve to buy one for him. 7. God knew Adam would never be able to make a doctor, dentist or haircut appointment for himself. 6. God knew Adam would never remember which night to put the garbage on the curb. 5. God knew if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle the pain and discomfort of childbearing. 4. As the Keeper of the Garden, since he didn't have metal sheds or greenhouses, Adam would never remember where he left his tools. 3. Apparently, Adam needed someone to blame his troubles on when God caught him hiding in the garden. 2. As the Bible says, "It is not good for man to be alone!" And the #1 reason why God created Eve: 1. When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back, scratched His head and said, "I can do better than that!"

From: Chris Konz Subject: Alien Holster

Hey guys my name is Chris I'm from Sanger Texas. I have had my CHL for about a month now and just order a Alien Holster thanks to you Doug and his review of it. I can't wait to get it in the mail and to start using it. I just started listening to your show for a week now and went from the 1st show to the last one. I have to confess that I am not as close to God as I should be but I do believe in him wholeheartedly. I plan on becoming closer to him and letting go completely to him. I wasn't raised with guns but here in the past 6 months they have been one of my expensive passions. I currently have a M&P Shield 9mm, yes I know its not a 45 but like yall say you have to start somewhere. I also have a savage 320 defense shotgun and I am about to buy a Mossburg 500. Just wanted to stop by and tell yall how good yall are doing and how much I love the show. Oh and dont worry Doug I think I am more terrified of snakes than you are. Alright guys cant wait to hear what y'all have to say about a guy from Texas on the show but I will let you know what I think about the Holster after I get it in. Keep it up guys. Hear from ya soon.

From: Brad (Part II) Subject: Sorry for the confusion of my last email!

I apologize for my confusion. Doug, I am very thankful for your faith and insights, even though you are not EJ Owens. I feel really stupid right now. Can you tell I am just getting into all this youtube, and podcast stuff? I did listen to your interview of E.J. Owens, and that is how I found your podcast. So some credit does need to go to E.J. at legallyconcealed.org, for getting you guys a new listener. I don't do facebook, twitter or all that stuff. Have you thought about a regular newsletter via email and/or website with regular articles? You guys have, in my opinion, a very good mix of spiritual and practical insight that is very refreshing! Thank you for all you do!

Weekly Bible Verses

God’s Everlasting Love

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?  Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.  Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  As it is written,  “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”    No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 8:31-39 (ESV)

Cleaning the Attic

While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found an old stub for some shoes they left at the repair shop 10 years ago. They thought it would be funny to go to the shop and see if the shoes were still there. So they did. They handed the stub to the repair man who took it and looked in the back. He came out again and said, "They'll be ready on Wednesday."

To Be Six Again

George was a thoughtful husband. He wanted to give his wife something special for her birthday which was coming up soon. As he sat on the edge of the bed, he watched his wife turning back and forth and looking at herself in the mirror. "Reta," he said, "What would you like for your birthday?"

His wife continued to look at herself and said, "I'd like to be six again."

George knew just what to do. On the big day, he got up early and made his wife a bowl of Fruit Loops. Then he took her to an amusement park where they rode all the rides. Five hours later, Reta's stomach felt upside down and her head was reeling. Never the less, George took her to McDonald's and bought her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Next, it was a movie with popcorn, soda and her favorite candy.

As Reta wobbled into the house that evening and flopped on the bed, George asked her, "Well, Dear, what was it like to be six again?"

Reta looked up at him. Her expression changed. She said, "I meant my dress size!"

Weekly Bible Verses

And the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him, “There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had very many flocks and herds, but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him.  Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.” Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord  lives, the man who has done this deserves to die,  and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.” Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the  Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.  Why have you despised the word of the  Lord , to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.  Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’  Thus says the  Lord , ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.  For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’”  David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the  Lord .” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.  Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.” 2 Samuel 12:1-14 (ESV)

The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

More on Love and Hatred

11 For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters,[a] if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence:20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

After several emails…

Troy,

Thanks for taking the time to put that together.  I know it took some time out of your already busy evening.

Things make a lot more sense now.  The controversy I see is some people's definition of "Lordship."  I think some people are using the idea of Lordship as reaching or attaining to a certain level of sanctification.  That is the part I disagree with.  I do believe that after salvation people can go through some very hard times, spiritually, and rebel against God.

I'm glad you made the distinction between people who ARE saved and people who "think" they are saved, and that it is God's job to decide when a person actually receives salvation.  I believe that a person can accept Christ at a young age but go through a rough patch and have a longer rebellious period than others but this does not diminish Jesus' Lordship during that time.  Because Lordship is not conditional on any certain level of sanctification.  If it were, that's when Christianity becomes "works" based.

The parts of this email I've underlined are what I previously thought you were believing, but I understand now that you were sending the message that there are people who "think" they are saved and just living "good lives."

Another verse that sticks out in my mind is 1 Corinthians 5:5 regarding believers in the church who continue to sin even after confronted about it:  "You are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord."

There is a difference between that kind of living and the example you gave of David.  When confronted about his most notable sin, sexual immorality, David repented.  Lordship was in place but his flesh still emerged.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (regarding a list of immoral actions) says this: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

Clerk chases off armed robber, WJCL, Savannah, Ga. 08/25/14

Clerk Rick Patel was working at a Shell Food Mart in Claxton, Ga. when a hooded man approached the counter and attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. Patel responded by retrieving a pistol, which then he used to chase the criminal out of the store. Police suspect the hooded man has committed several other armed robberies. Following the incident, Patel told Savannah’s WJCL, “I don’t like to shoot nobody but when it comes to my life I would. And thank God I didn’t get hurt, I didn’t kill him, otherwise I would have regretted but hey, you made the choice, regrets happen.” In recent years, some convenience store clerks have faced discipline following an act of armed self-defense. In a welcome departure from these instances, the owner of Patel’s store told the TV station, “I’m really proud. Whatever he did I’d like if everybody started doing it that way, robbery will be stopped, especially for convenience stores.”

Comedy Corner: A Movie Bet

Two fellas were watching an old cowboy movie and it came to the part when the cowboy, on his horse, at full gallop, was headed right towards a cliff. One of the guys said to the other, "Hey, I’ll bet you 10 bucks that he rides over the cliff." The other said, "Your on!"

Well the cowboy and the horse went right over the cliff. The fella that lost the bet paid up. A while later, the guy who won said, "Hey, I’m feeling a little guilty about our bet and need to make a confession ... I already have seen the movie." The other fella replied, "Well, I have also seen the movie before ... but I didn’t think he’d do it again!"

Romans 13Weekly Bible Verses

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.  For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,  for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.  Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.  Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Comedy Corner:

Overcrowded church The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sunday morning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered thru the rear of the church. One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church. They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons. The one in the middle announced, "Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!" Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor. After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit. The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher, "All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now. You may begin the service."

Do you go to church? A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.

Weekly Bible Verses Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,  “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.”  But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. But the  Lord  hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep.  So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.” Jonah 1: 1-6 (ESV)

"Where's Billy Bob?"

"Billy Bob had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the trail."

"A tough call," nodded the hunter "but I figured no one, in their right mind, is going to steal Billy Bob."

"Well, I'm sooooo ugly, I just kinda hunker down amongst the bushes and when he gets in real close, I jump out a screamin' and making such a face that it "uglies" them to death. I used to take my wife along, but she tore 'em up too bad".

Weekly Bible Verse John 13: 1-20 (ESV)

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,  Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,  rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.  Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.  He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”  Jesus answered him,  “What I am doing  you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him,  “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!”  Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash,  except for his feet, but is completely clean. And  you are clean,  but not every one of you.” For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said,  “Not all of you are clean.” When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them,  “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example,  that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you,  a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of all of you; I know  whom I have chosen. But  the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

A Minnesota couple decided to vacation to Florida during the winter. They planned to stay at the very same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday. His wife would fly down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her e-mail address, and without realizing his error, he sent the e-mail.

Meanwhile.....somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who was called home to glory following a sudden heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she fainted.

Troy and Doug,

I really appreciate your method of ministry. The way you explain the Bible verse really gives me a better understanding.  I don't read metaphors well and rarely take anything more than EXACTLY what is written away from my studies. I grew up in the church, but have always felt lost. I have always been a backslider and a poor example of a Christian. I think God has used you (Troy) to convict me, as well as give me comfort. You have touched on several of my personal struggles in your testimonies. It is such a relief/inspiration to hear a good Christian man that has gone through some of the same things I have. I have always called myself a Christian and yet have always felt out of place around other Christians, at church or otherwise. Some of my unspeakable thoughts leave me feeling like its hopeless and I will never be good enough, but your testimonies have helped me see otherwise. Please don't worry so much about going off on a tangent because those times you do are always my favorite parts of the show. I always get a lot out of them. I listen to the old shows over and over while waiting for the next.

Doug you did a great job with the show last week. I spent some time living outside Ft Valley and working in Perry several years ago, so I'm familiar with your neck of the woods.

In closing I too hope I didn't ramble too much, but I wanted to let you know that all of the work you guys are doing through God with the show is impacting/renewing my spiritual walk. Thank you and God bless.

Show Listener Mark

Doug,

Yup, still atheist, and still listening, not every week, but you guys do have some great topics. Thanks for the shows Mark

Weekly Bible Verse Romans 9:11-26 (ESV) “though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—  she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”  As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”    What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!  For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”  So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.  For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”  So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.    You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”  But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”  Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?  What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,  in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—  even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?  As indeed he says in Hosea,  “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’”     “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”

Doug,

I share your concern about the "Twist" the media puts on things and how they not so tactfully push their opinions and agenda.  However, I think you were a bit short sighted and unfair in episode 53, "Range Rules, Safety & Etiquette".  You complained about the press reporting that the Chicago PD was conducting their investigation into the off duty Officer involved shooting as a homicide investigation.  I believe they were probably reporting exactly what Chicago PD told them.

Every death investigation and shooting investigation is conducted as a homicide investigation until proven otherwise.  In fact, the off duty shooting was in fact a homicide - a justifiable homicide.  There are several kinds of homicide - Justifiable Homicide, Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, Involuntary Manslaughter and Vehicular Manslaughter.   Justifiable Homicide and Murder are intentional acts.  All three types of Manslaughter are unintentional. Only Justifiable Homicide is legal, the others are prohibited.

Every investigation is conducted the same way so that all the evidence is collected and preserved.  A homicide investigation is intended to determine if there was a crime or not and to prove either innocence or guilt.

I agree that the mainstream media targets gun owners and that "Evil" Second Amendment.  But we must be fair and informed when commenting on them was well.

Troy, I have been listening to the GNG podcasts from Podcast #1 on. I am now up to #51. I was in tears listening to your testimony about your neck injury and its unrelenting pain, followed by the loss of your job, home, and finances....and finally your pride. God allowed something similar to happen to me in the early 2000s. I was a high-paid executive at a Fortune 50 company and was RIFed in the Tech Meltdown after 17+ years with the company. Thinking to secure my future, I took the large severance payment along with a an inheritance given to me by my mother and bought 1/3 of a national mfg. company that my neighbor owned (I knew him for 10 years). After about 2 years, my partner bled me dry financially, and when I finally cut off the money, he booted me out of the company. I was broke, jobless, and over 50 years old in a poor job market. It finally brought me to my knees and I threw myself onto the Lord's mercy. Thankfully, to the glory of our Lord, He directed me to self-employment consulting with local governments and a part-time job working for Christian owners of the newest gun range in North Texas. My savings have been replenished and my wife and I just celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. More importantly, I maintain a humble spirit by joyfully cleaning the bathrooms, sweeping up brass, and mopping the floors at the gun range, even though I am now a manager there. I am blessed that the Lord has restored me, spiritually and financially, and he even led us to reconnect with one of our neighborhood couples who led us to Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX, which has become our home of worship. I just wanted you to know how your testimony resonated with me. I listen to all the podcasts and consider them a blessing. I pray for you and Doug to continue with this ministry and for our Lord to bless you and your families.

“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle;” (Psalms 144:1 NASB)

Weekly Bible Verse

“Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and he who has no money,  come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.     Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food.    Incline your ear, and come to me;  hear, that your soul may live;  and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,  my steadfast, sure love for David.     Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,  a leader and commander for the peoples.     Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know, and a nation that did not know you shall run to you, because of the  Lord  your God, and of the Holy One of Israel,  for he has glorified you.     “Seek the  Lord  while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;    let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the  Lord , that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.    For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the  Lord .     For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:1-9

Weekly Bible Verse Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.  But he answered them,  “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you,  there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this  must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up     to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many  false prophets will arise  and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased,  the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom  will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:1-14 (ESV)

NRA Armed Citizen Chicago homeowner fends off thieves, faces charges for expired FOID, The Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill. February 1, 2014 Posted on February 5, 2014

A homeowner was in bed in Chicago, Ill. when he was awakened by his daughter, who alerted him to a suspicious disturbance in a nearby apartment. The homeowner, who relies on crutches, went to investigate, unlocking a door between his home and the apartment which his daughter suspected had been broken into. He then returned to his bedroom to retrieve a firearm. When the homeowner returned to the unlocked door, he encountered two intruders who charged at him. The homeowner responded by firing at the criminals, striking and killing one, and causing the other and a third accomplice to flee the scene. Unfortunately, following the shooting, police discovered that the homeowner failed to fully comply with Illinois’ onerous firearms laws, having let his Firearm Owners Identification card expire. Police charged the homeowner with a misdemeanor.

NRA Armed Citizen Right-to-Carry permit holder fells robber, My Fox Detroit, Detroit, Mich. 02/22/14, WXYZ, Detroit, Mich. 02/22/14, The Detroit News, 01/31/14

A woman was heading inside after pulling her car into the garage at her Detroit, Mich. home when a man armed with a gun attempted to rob her. In response, the resident, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, drew a gun and shot the attacker, killing him. The shooting marked the third recorded incident in a week in which armed Detroit residents defended themselves from criminal attack. This string of defensive gun uses follows a late-January statement by Detroit Police Chief James Craig, in which the he noted, “I did, in fact, say that good Americans, good Detroiters, if responsible, could get CPLs, and that it could — emphasis on the word ‘could’ — be a deterrent to violent crime. I said that because of my experience in four cities, having seen good Americans and good Detroiters that have CCWs, and what effect it has had on deterring violent crime.”

Erick Menendez Heading: Great Show

Good morning: I just wanted to tell you all hello from Louisville and let you know that you have a great show going. I've been listening to the show for a while and it's probably one of the best out there.

So keep up the good work! Regards, EM

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------From: Ben Arisman Hey Troy and Doug,

I have been with you guys from the very first episode! I love every episode and really appreciate your time spent in the Word and it's applications to today...even those passages for the Old Testament. I studied Hebrew in college and was blown away by studying the Old Testament. Unfortunately I think too many Christian today disregard just how applicable the old Testament can be, not to mention how incredible it is to see how every passage of the OT points to Christ!

I am a back country boy from the hills of Pennsylvania but I currently work on a university campus in bio medical research and am unable to carry while at work. Any time I am not at work I carry my Springfield XD9 in a Galco IWB holster.

I struggle with knowing whether or not I would draw my gun in defense of my own life, being fully assured that if I die I would be with The Lord. That being said, I chose to carry daily in order to be able to defend those who either can't or choose not to defend themselves if the situation leaves no other alternatives. Maybe this is something that could be discussed in a future episode, as a Christian, when is it acceptable to draw (if there are no other alternatives) and is it ever better to lay down ones own life?

Another suggestion may be to interview religious leaders who carry, especially in light of the huge success of the "church carry" episode. My father-in-law is the district superintendent for the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church denomination in western Pennsylvania. He doesn't carry on his person all the time but he usually has a firearms close by (usually a .44 mag desert eagle). He is also an avid hunter and outdoors-man. If you would be interested I can ask him or send you his contact info. You by no means would have to use him but if you were interested I thought he could give you a place to start.

Thanks for all the hard work you put into the show! Gun are good but God is great!

Brandon Subject: My situation...

Hey guys I have been listening to the podcast for a while and I hear your testimony of faith and I don't have that kind of story. I have been in church since I can remember and have recently found my way back to Christ and am going to church twice a week after a hiatus due to differences with a church when I went to college. I am in a situation at work where there is a lot of sexual comments and what not. I find myself angry and having meltdowns at home. Also I find myself cursing more and I am not liking who I am becoming. I have tried to change my situation but the jobs are not here. I pray and read my devotions looking for guidance but I don't know what to do. I don't know if the devil is testing my faith or if I am just having a rough go at it. Any guidance would be appreciated. Keep up the great work guys!!

Weekly Bible Verse:

Response to Brandon, Take heart, I have been where you are many times as God worked on me through the years. I too was raised in the church and was active in programs and missions. I was saved at an early age and through my high school years I found myself becoming more worldly. When I went off to college, I became completely worldly without my family and church families eyes on me. Although when I would come home to visit I went to church, and I even attended a church near my college; my soul was in total rebellion to God. Oddly we always think we are fooling people or covering our tracks, but our thoughts are what God judges.

Conviction: You and I are just like Paul when he confessed the guilt he had over his own sin life. Roman 7:15-19 “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.  Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good.  So now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.  For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.  For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing.  Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.” (ESV)

Take Captive every thought: My dilemma was Jesus was my "savior" but not my "Lord". I had to learn the painful and hard way that Jesus wants all of me. That begins with taking captive our thoughts. As Paul said in:

2 Corinthians 10:5 “We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.” The whole chapter 10 is great to meditate on. The more I have had to battle sin the more God has revealed to me that it was not my friends, music, outside influences that caused me to sin. It was I wanted to sin, I was not a good person, I was the cause of my sin. We cannot do anything good apart from Christ.

Submission: So Brandon, I think you are on the right track. You are convicted of your sin, and seem repentant, and you want to stop going back to the same sin. So I believe the Holy Spirit is at work convicting you. My recommendation is first make sure that you have accepted Jesus as your “Lord” and are dying to yourself Daily (hourly, by the minute). See Luke 9: 23-26 “And he said to all,  “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and  take up his cross  daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed  when he comes in  his glory and the glory of the Father and of  the holy angels.. “ (ESV)

Dying to self: Remember part of that dying to self is also giving God all your concerns, issues, and emotions. We are to totally submit our will to God’s, so we are to give him everything else. See Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden  and  overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]  Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. [Jer. 6:16.]  For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good–not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light  and  easy to be borne. (AMP)  also Psalm 55:22 “Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail). [I Pet. 5:7.]  But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in, lean on, and confidently rely on You.” (AMP)

Scripture: Devotions are okay, but you need to make sure you are reading the whole scripture, or listen to it. You can do this on audio, video, or just by reading it.

Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;  because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God,  I also will forget your children.”

Psalm 119:11-12 “Your word have I laid up in my heart, that I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O Lord; teach me Your statutes.” (ESV)

Continue in your prayer: Pray that God would reveal himself through the scriptures and that he would help you to resist sin. I pray this daily. The more you seek God the more he reveals himself. Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (ESV)

Flee from Evil: As far as cursing, I noticed when I hung around people who cussed, or watched programs and movies with cursing; I was more likely to say it too. If people around you are talking in appropriately, pray that God would close their mouths as he did for Daniel in the lion’s den. When a bad conversation starts up walk away, if that is not possible, change the subject or start asking for prayer request. Pray for them and start asking about them and their families and issues. Show God’s love because apart from God’s intervention we would be just like them. 2 Timothy 2:21-26 “Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work. So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.  Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels.  And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil,  correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth,  and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will.” (ESV)

Philippians 4:8-9 “For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely  and  lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue  and  excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on  and  weigh  and  take account of these things [fix your minds on them].  Practice what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and model your way of living on it, and the God of peace (of untroubled, undisturbed well-being) will be with you.” (AMP)

Finally rest in his Grace: Since it is God who does the work in you to make you in His image (sanctification), rest in His Grace.  As Paul said in Philippians 1:6-11 “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.  It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.  For God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.  And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment,  so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,  filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” (ESV)

Been listening to your podcast while working the assembly line in Louisville. Love it! Makes the day flow listening to the word of God, not to mention info about our freedoms( gun ownership and hunting!) God Bless and keep it up.

Peter Wiktorski (Via Facebook Msg) Hey Troy & Doug,

I've been listening to your show for a few weeks, and wanted to tell you that I like what I hear. Also wanted to let you know that I've gotten the youth minister and a couple of the AWANA leaders at my church listening to you as well.

bigbx1 (Via Instagram) Just completed 1st show, great job I will add to my podcast downloads.

Weekly Bible Verse Hosea 4:6-9 (AMP) 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children. 7 The more they increased and multiplied [in prosperity and power], the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. 8 They feed on the sin of My people and set their heart on their iniquity. 9 And it shall be: Like people, like priest; I will punish them for their ways and repay them for their doings.

When we forget the Lord, he will remind us, punish, withdraw from us. It happened to Israel over and over again. It will happen to any people group who forgets their position with God’s. Do you read the bible regularly. Audiobook, Sermons on Podcast. soak the Word into your daily walk.

NRA Armed Citizen Restaurant employee shoots armed would-be robbers By Allison Sampite-Montecalvo and Susan Shroder 11:53 p.m.Jan. 3, 2014 Updated 4:01 p.m. Jan. 4, 2014 VISTA — An employee at a Vista restaurant fired shots at two men who tried to rob the business at gunpoint Friday night, a sheriff’s official said. The attempted robbery was reported about 9:40 p.m. at Uncle Tony’s Italian Cuisine on Sycamore Avenue, near Shadowridge Drive. The employee said he fired eight shots at the attempted robbers while inside the business, but they fled without taking anything, sheriff’s deputies said. He told deputies he thought he hit both of them in the upper body. One was described as Latino, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build. He wore a black hoodie, a blue bandanna over his face and khaki pants. The other man was described only as about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with his face covered. Both carried handguns. Deputies said the men fled in a white two-door vehicle, possibly a Honda. Local hospitals were notified. About midnight, two men with gunshot wounds showed up in the Tri-City Medical Center emergency room, deputies said. Vista detectives arrived to interview the men, who said they were shot while walking near John Landis Park in Oceanside, but neither man could provide a suspect description or location of the shooting. Deputies said both men were treated for their injuries, which were consistent with the descriptions given by the restaurant employee, then released. Detectives arrested and booked both men into the Vista jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon, and other weapons and probation violation charges. Because the investigation is ongoing, their names were not released at this time. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/jan/03/uncle-tonys-vista-gunshots/

Weekly Bible Verse

5 “And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. 14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Comedy Corner: In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field.

"We advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear poop. Black bear poop is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear poop has little bells in it and smells like pepper. "

Listener Email: Troy, Thanks for clearing up my email from last week and giving some feedback. Its good to hear other Christian's thoughts on topics we don't always agree on. I just came from church and started listening to your last show talking about Simon Peter. That is the same person our preacher talked about here in Belgium. He talked about Peter as an example of a real person we can all relate too. Simon displayed signs of faith and faltered at the same time. He was the only disciple to try and walk on water, he told Jesus he would never leave him at the last supper (he would), never deny him (he did X3), after Jesus's death he jumped out of the boat and swam to shore when he saw Jesus and talked with him while the other disciples rowed, and he was even told to basically shut up and listen to Jesus by God on the mountain with the 2 other disciples. Simon Peter's life showed great faith and how human every man is when we do not have faith, listen, or follow God's plan for us. Warner Paredes

Weekly Bible Verse Ephesians 6:18-20 (ESV) 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. GNG 040 - To Keep or Not to Keep

Timothy BaldwinTroy interviews Lawyer and Writer Timothy Baldwin of the Liberty Defense League about his newest book To Keep or Not to Keep, Why Christians Should Not Give up Their Guns.

God and Guns Podcast - Episode 040 - To Keep or not to Keep

Intro:

Welcome back to the God and Guns Podcast. I’m your host, Troy.  We use this podcast to talk about God, guns, and the responsible Christian gun owners interests. Today Troy interviews Lawyer and Writer Timothy Baldwin of the Liberty Defense League.

Bandwidth Sponsor: Firearms Radio Network, they have asked me to tell you about a fairly new show called We Like Shooting Podcast, welikeshootingpodcast.com iTunes link welikeshootingpodcast.com/itunes

Comedy Corner:

Things you’ll never hear in church:

  1. Hey! It's MY turn to sit on the front pew!
  2. I was so enthralled, I never noticed your sermon went over time 25 minutes.
  3. Personally, I find witnessing much more enjoyable than golf.
  4. I've decided to give our church the $500.00 a month I used to send to TV evangelists.
  5. I volunteer to be the permanent teacher for the Junior High Sunday School class.

Listener Email:

Jake says; You're are really showing improvement. The last interview (James Wesley Rawles) was the best yet. Thank you so much for fixing your sound quality :)  I thought your commentary before and after the interview was also very good. Thank You for putting so much heart and soul into the show. You're doing awesome Troy, keep up the good work!

Jim Says; Troy, I just wanted to say thanks for all you do with the God and Guns Podcast. I have been struggling lately with how much to prep. I agree we all need to be prepared and take care of our families and even be there for friends and neighbors in time of need, but how much is too much. A bunker in the back yard with 5 years of supplies I think is too much. Maybe even a slap in God's face who provides for us. So where do you draw the line, biblically? I appreciate all the discussion please keep it up.

Weekly Bible Verse:

Luke 12:16-21 ESV

16 And he (Jesus) told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully,17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
