GNG 094 - Bartering 101

BuySellTrade_BOn this episode we will be discussing the fine art of Bartering. God and Guns Podcast Episode 94 - Bartering 101

Intro: Welcome back to Episode 94 of the God and Guns Podcast. I’m your host, Troy. (Doug) And I’m your other host, Doug. (Troy) We use this podcast to talk about God, guns, and the responsible Christian gun owners interests. Tonight we will be discussing Bartering Tactics.

Bandwidth Sponsor: Firearms Radio Network

This Weeks God and Gun activities: Doug: God: Been doing my devotionals. Daily Bible Verse, History Channel had The Bible on this week. Guns: Duck Hunting, Long distance gun buy

Troy: God: Daily Devotional, Church Solo, Youth New Year’s Party, Family Time. Guns: Shooting bows with the Kids

Comedy Corner: Three guys had an accident and went straight to heaven. When they got there, St. Peter said, "We only have one rule in heaven. Don't step on the ducks!"

They entered heaven and sure enough there were ducks all over the place. It was almost impossible not to step on a duck and although they tried their best to avoid them the first guy accidentally stepped on one.

Along came St. Peter with the homeliest woman he ever saw. St. Peter chained them together and said, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this homely woman".

The next day, the second guy stepped accidentally on a duck and along came St. Peter, who didn't miss a thing, and with him was another extremely homely woman. He chained them together with the same admonishment as the first.

The third guy had observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to a horrible looking woman was very careful where he stepped. He managed to go for months without stepping on any ducks. Then one day, St. Peter came up to him with the most gorgeous woman he had ever laid eyes on. St. Peter chained them together without saying a word.

The guy remarked, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all eternity?"

She replied, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck"!

iTunes 5 Star Review by UT Steve December 29, 2014 I really enjoy the format of this podcast. The Bible Lesson Speaks to the heart, and the variety of guest speaks to the mind. Thanks for producing this excellent program.

From: Daniel Subject: Bartering Message Body: Hey guys. Love the show! Thanks for taking the time out of your lives to produce the podcast.

Had a quick request. You guys are always talking about the guns you've traded or anything in general that you've to traded with people. Could you do a podcast on bartering? I think it's kind of a lost art and I would enjoy hearing some of y'all's tips, tricks and stories about your bartering experiences. I'm not much good at it yet but it sounds like there are some awesome deals to be had. Thanks!

Bible Verses "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:3-8 ESV)

Main Topic Bartering 101

  • Meet at neutral safe well lit place if at all possible, take partner with you if possible.
  • Keep emotion out of it.
  • Don’t drive further than they are willing to, unless too big to bring to you.
  • Ask up front if they are willing to negotiate.
  • Let them name the price and talk as much as possible.
  • Never make an offer unless forced, and then make a dirt cheap offer that will get them talking.
  • Take your time looking over the item. Noting every blemish, scratch, area of concern. Make sure it works, in the case of firearms with permission of owner I clear the gun and check it by dry firing or use of snap caps to make sure they cycle and the hammer goes click.
  • Find out who the decision maker is and only deal with them, if they aren't there then don't go.
  • Have multiple things you are willing to barter with, cash is last for you to put up.
  • Always trade up. Shotguns to rifles, Rifles to handguns. Also brand names up and value up.
  • Be willing to walk away. There is another deal around the corner.
  • Make a fair trade don’t take advantage of people who are not capable of making a good decision, don’t burn bridges you may trade again with them, don’t brag about ripping someone off you’ll get a bad reputation and people won’t refer others to you.

Ray F Facebook Post I like your choice of a Kimber. My Grand Raptor II (bought from Chicago via Gun Broker just to tick off Bloomy) had 800 rounds match ammo through it when it arrived. Since then another 1,200 of various defense and ball. I have only had ONE issue and that was with that dratted TULA drek. It was so sooty and dirty with such a dazzling flash I was accused of shooting black powder indoors. The other issue was the steel cases. I ONLY used Wilson Combat mags. They are the 8 rounders. Anyway if I loaded all 8 it would NOT chamber but if I only loaded 7 it chambered like a champ. Other than that I have yet to see an FTF or stovepipe stoppage. I also grip that thing like King Kong holding the True Cross so maybe that helps. LOL I attribute 99% of 1911 failures to 3 things: bad ammo, bad maintenance and defective magazines. The other 1% is limp wristing.

Believe me that  I am in the Father and the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves. “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father. Brian Hiner was at home in Butler County, Ohio when his dog alerted him to an intruder. Hiner retrieved a gun, went to investigate, and apprehended the home invader. When police arrived, they detained the intruder in a cruiser. However, the criminal managed to escape the vehicle, ran into a cornfield, and eventually invaded another house. 15-year-old Justin Kugler was at home at the time, and responded to the intrusion by retrieving a gun. When Kugler encountered the home invader he told him, “get out of the house or I'm going to shoot you.” Police recaptured the intruder outside the Kugler residence. When interviewed by a local media outlet, Kugler stated, “I feel pretty good about it that I could have saved other people's houses and their property.”

The Ham Sandwich A Jewish rabbi and a Catholic priest were good friends. At a picnic one day, the priest was eating a ham sandwich. "You know," he said to his friend, "this ham sandwich is delicious. I know you're not supposed to eat ham, but I don't understand why such a good thing would be forbidden. When will you break down and try it?"

To which the rabbi replied, "At your wedding."

Top Ten Reasons Eve Was Created 10. God was worried that Adam would frequently become lost in the garden because he would not ask for directions. 9. God knew that one day Adam would require someone to locate and hand him the remote. 8. God knew Adam would never go out and buy himself a new fig leaf when his wore out and would therefore need Eve to buy one for him. 7. God knew Adam would never be able to make a doctor, dentist or haircut appointment for himself. 6. God knew Adam would never remember which night to put the garbage on the curb. 5. God knew if the world was to be populated, men would never be able to handle the pain and discomfort of childbearing. 4. As the Keeper of the Garden, since he didn't have metal sheds or greenhouses, Adam would never remember where he left his tools. 3. Apparently, Adam needed someone to blame his troubles on when God caught him hiding in the garden. 2. As the Bible says, "It is not good for man to be alone!" And the #1 reason why God created Eve: 1. When God finished the creation of Adam, He stepped back, scratched His head and said, "I can do better than that!"

From: Chris Konz Subject: Alien Holster

Hey guys my name is Chris I'm from Sanger Texas. I have had my CHL for about a month now and just order a Alien Holster thanks to you Doug and his review of it. I can't wait to get it in the mail and to start using it. I just started listening to your show for a week now and went from the 1st show to the last one. I have to confess that I am not as close to God as I should be but I do believe in him wholeheartedly. I plan on becoming closer to him and letting go completely to him. I wasn't raised with guns but here in the past 6 months they have been one of my expensive passions. I currently have a M&P Shield 9mm, yes I know its not a 45 but like yall say you have to start somewhere. I also have a savage 320 defense shotgun and I am about to buy a Mossburg 500. Just wanted to stop by and tell yall how good yall are doing and how much I love the show. Oh and dont worry Doug I think I am more terrified of snakes than you are. Alright guys cant wait to hear what y'all have to say about a guy from Texas on the show but I will let you know what I think about the Holster after I get it in. Keep it up guys. Hear from ya soon.

From: Brad (Part II) Subject: Sorry for the confusion of my last email!

I apologize for my confusion. Doug, I am very thankful for your faith and insights, even though you are not EJ Owens. I feel really stupid right now. Can you tell I am just getting into all this youtube, and podcast stuff? I did listen to your interview of E.J. Owens, and that is how I found your podcast. So some credit does need to go to E.J. at legallyconcealed.org, for getting you guys a new listener. I don't do facebook, twitter or all that stuff. Have you thought about a regular newsletter via email and/or website with regular articles? You guys have, in my opinion, a very good mix of spiritual and practical insight that is very refreshing! Thank you for all you do!

Weekly Bible Verses

God’s Everlasting Love

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?  Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.  Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?  As it is written,  “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”    No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,  nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. ~Romans 8:31-39 (ESV)

Cleaning the Attic

While cleaning the attic, Joan and Harry found an old stub for some shoes they left at the repair shop 10 years ago. They thought it would be funny to go to the shop and see if the shoes were still there. So they did. They handed the stub to the repair man who took it and looked in the back. He came out again and said, "They'll be ready on Wednesday."

To Be Six Again

George was a thoughtful husband. He wanted to give his wife something special for her birthday which was coming up soon. As he sat on the edge of the bed, he watched his wife turning back and forth and looking at herself in the mirror. "Reta," he said, "What would you like for your birthday?"

His wife continued to look at herself and said, "I'd like to be six again."

George knew just what to do. On the big day, he got up early and made his wife a bowl of Fruit Loops. Then he took her to an amusement park where they rode all the rides. Five hours later, Reta's stomach felt upside down and her head was reeling. Never the less, George took her to McDonald's and bought her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Next, it was a movie with popcorn, soda and her favorite candy.

As Reta wobbled into the house that evening and flopped on the bed, George asked her, "Well, Dear, what was it like to be six again?"

Reta looked up at him. Her expression changed. She said, "I meant my dress size!"

Weekly Bible Verses

And the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him, “There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had very many flocks and herds, but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him.  Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.” Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord  lives, the man who has done this deserves to die,  and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.” Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the  Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.  Why have you despised the word of the  Lord , to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.  Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’  Thus says the  Lord , ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun.  For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’”  David said to Nathan, “I have sinned against the  Lord .” And Nathan said to David, “The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die.  Nevertheless, because by this deed you have utterly scorned the Lord, the child who is born to you shall die.” 2 Samuel 12:1-14 (ESV)

True Believer with Mike Emert

Philippians 3:20 20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ

2 Peter 1:1-2 1 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: 2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 2 Peter 1:11 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:18 17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

Jude 1:25 25 to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.

Romans 10:9 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

1 John 3:4-24 4 Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

More on Love and Hatred

11 For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. 12 Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters,[a] if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. 15 Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. 16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. 17 If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? 18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. 19 This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence:20 If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything.21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God 22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. 23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us. 24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

After several emails…

Troy,

Thanks for taking the time to put that together.  I know it took some time out of your already busy evening.

Things make a lot more sense now.  The controversy I see is some people's definition of "Lordship."  I think some people are using the idea of Lordship as reaching or attaining to a certain level of sanctification.  That is the part I disagree with.  I do believe that after salvation people can go through some very hard times, spiritually, and rebel against God.

I'm glad you made the distinction between people who ARE saved and people who "think" they are saved, and that it is God's job to decide when a person actually receives salvation.  I believe that a person can accept Christ at a young age but go through a rough patch and have a longer rebellious period than others but this does not diminish Jesus' Lordship during that time.  Because Lordship is not conditional on any certain level of sanctification.  If it were, that's when Christianity becomes "works" based.

The parts of this email I've underlined are what I previously thought you were believing, but I understand now that you were sending the message that there are people who "think" they are saved and just living "good lives."

Another verse that sticks out in my mind is 1 Corinthians 5:5 regarding believers in the church who continue to sin even after confronted about it:  "You are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord."

There is a difference between that kind of living and the example you gave of David.  When confronted about his most notable sin, sexual immorality, David repented.  Lordship was in place but his flesh still emerged.

1 Corinthians 6:11 (regarding a list of immoral actions) says this: "And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

Clerk chases off armed robber, WJCL, Savannah, Ga. 08/25/14

Clerk Rick Patel was working at a Shell Food Mart in Claxton, Ga. when a hooded man approached the counter and attempted to rob the store at gunpoint. Patel responded by retrieving a pistol, which then he used to chase the criminal out of the store. Police suspect the hooded man has committed several other armed robberies. Following the incident, Patel told Savannah’s WJCL, “I don’t like to shoot nobody but when it comes to my life I would. And thank God I didn’t get hurt, I didn’t kill him, otherwise I would have regretted but hey, you made the choice, regrets happen.” In recent years, some convenience store clerks have faced discipline following an act of armed self-defense. In a welcome departure from these instances, the owner of Patel’s store told the TV station, “I’m really proud. Whatever he did I’d like if everybody started doing it that way, robbery will be stopped, especially for convenience stores.”

Miracles Happen

"Wow!" Bill told his friend Isaac. "Check this out! The Bible says here that the Israelites crossed over the Red Sea on foot!"

"Well," replied Isaac, "That's actually the Sea of Reeds, which at that point was actually very shallow, so they probably crossed over in just two feet of water."

"Oh," said Bill, and he continued to read, disappointed. "Hey, wait! Check this out! It says here that the Egyptian army drowned in just two feet of water!"

Point of View One enterprising man asked the Lord, "Lord, how long is a million years to you?" The Lord replied, "To me, a million years is like a second." The man asked, "Lord, how much is a million dollars to you?" The Lord said, "To me, a million dollars is like a penny." The man asked, "Lord, may I have a penny?" The Lord answered, "Sure, just a second."

Weekly Bible Verses

Persecution Will Come

“Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Beware of men, for they will deliver you over to courts and flog you in their synagogues, and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, to bear witness before them and the Gentiles. When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next, for truly, I say to you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes. “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master. It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign those of his household. Matthew 10: 16-25 (ESV)

89-Year-old Arthur Lewis was working at his store, the Jewelry Exchange, in Palm Beach County, Fla. when a man entered the shop and pretended to need his watch fixed. Comedy Corner: Name the Capitals

A blonde was complaining to her friend about constantly being called a dumb blonde. Her friend tells her "go do something to prove them wrong! Why don't you learn all the state capitals or something?" The blonde thinks this is a great idea, and locks herself up for two weeks studying.

The next party she goes to, some guy is making dumb blonde comments to her. She gets all indignant and claims, "I'm NOT a dumb blonde. In fact, I can name ALL the state capitals!"

The guy doesn't believe her, so she dares him to test her. He says "Okay, what's the Capital of Montana?"

The blonde tosses her hair in triumph and says, "That's easy! It's M!"

The man comes back the next day and again approaches the same guard and asks to see President Clinton. Again the guard says "Sir, Clinton is no longer president." The man leaves but comes back the third day and again asked to see President Clinton.

The guard says "Sir...you have been here three days in a row asking to see President Clinton...and I have told you each time that Clinton is no longer president...what gives?"

The man says "I know... I just like hearing it."

Weekly Bible Verses & Main Topic

6th Commandment - Do not Murder* The sixth commandment helps us to understand... 1. What murder is (Deut. 5:17). You shall not murder (Deut. 5:17). Are There Exceptions? Self Defense (Neh. 4:11-14). Exodus 22:2-3 reads, “If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him.” So even after the Commands are given in Exodus 20, we can see that God permits the taking of a life if one’s own life is in potential danger. Capital Punishment Genesis 9:6 not only shows that we are to value human life because of creation; it also points out that if a man kills another man, his life was also to be taken. Even before the law was given to Israel—before the Commandment not to murder—God established capital punishment. This punishment speaks to the severity of the crime. The taking of a life warrants a punishment in kind—a death for a death. Just War In Scripture, God at times commanded battles between nations. Such battles and wars were God’s hand of justice against the wicked. Examples of God sanctioning war can be found throughout the historical books of the Old Testament. Although men and women are killed in battle, there must be a difference between the act of murder and a death in battle. Jesus Himself said, “My kingdom is not of this world… If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world” (John 18:36). 2. What drives it (Matt. 5:21-22). You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire (Matt. 5:21-22). Words Can Kill - Bullying

Murder Affects Us All - Abortion, Infanticide, Democide, genocide, euthanasia.

3. The cure for it (1 John 3:10-15). By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him (1 John 3:10-15).

Conclusion "The Sixth Commandment forbids murder, yet as Jesus showed, the intent of the Commandment addresses the words that we say and ultimately the heart behind these actions. Murder—and the heart of anger behind it—denies the inherent value of human life and strikes out against the image of God in humanity. For this reason, God takes murder very seriously. In fact, unrepentant murderers will not inherit the kingdom of God (Rev. 21:8). But the work of Jesus on the cross can cleanse even this sin and change the attitude of the heart. Our world is full of people who do not know that they were made in the image of God and are valuable to Him. Nor do they fully recognize the eternal consequences of the anger in their hearts or the actions that overflow from their hearts. Their hatred even extends to God Himself. Yet as Jesus loved us enough to die for us while we were still His enemies, we ought to love these people in the name of Jesus that they too may be freed from hatred to love God and others. A life that is pleasing to God is one that has moral purity not only in its actions, but also in its desires of heart.9 —Wayne Grudem Every destructive emotion bears its own harvest, but anger’s fruit is the most bitter of all.10 —Billy Graham

Clerk halts robber armed with rifle, WFSB, Connecticut, 08/06/14

A man armed with a rifle entered Congress Mini Mart in New Haven, Conn. and attempted to rob the store. At some point the thief left, then traveled to the nearby Nino’s Market convenience store and attempted to rob it. The clerk at Nino’s responded to the threat by retrieving a gun and shooting the criminal in the chest, killing him. Police have confirmed that the clerk was in compliance with Connecticut’s gun laws. Bizarrely, the clerks at Congress Mini Mart and Nini’s Market are brothers.

Forest Gump and St. Peter

When Forrest Gump died, he stood in front of St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, "Welcome, Forest. We've heard a lot about you." He continued, "Unfortunately, it's getting pretty crowded up here and we find that we now have to give people an entrance examination before we let them in."

"Okay," said Forest. "I hope it's not too hard. I've already been through a test. My momma used to say, 'Life is like a final exam. It's hard.' "

"Yes, Forest, I know. But this test is only three questions. Here they are."

1) Which two days of the week begin with the letter 'T'?"

2) How many seconds are in a year?

3) What is God's first name?

"Well, sir," said Forest, "The first one is easy. Which two days of the week begin with the letter 'T'? Today and Tomorrow."

St. Peter looked surprised and said, "Well, that wasn't the answer I was looking for, but you have a point. I give you credit for that answer."

"The next question," said Forest, "How many seconds are in a year? Twelve."

"Twelve?" said St. Peter, surprised and confused.

"Yes, sir. January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd …"

St. Peter interrupted him. "I see what you mean. I'll have to give you credit for that one, too."

"And the last question," said Forest, "What is God's first name? It's Andy."

"Andy?" said St. Peter, in shock. "How did you come up with 'Andy'?"

"I learned it in church. We used to sing about it." Forest broke into song, "Andy walks with me, Andy talks with me, Andy tells me I am His own."

St. Peter opened the gate to heaven and said, "Run, Forest, Run!"

My Dad's Better Than Your Dad

Three boys on the playground were bragging about their dads. One said. "My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a song and they pay him 50 bucks."

"Oh, yah. My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a poem and they pay him 100 bucks."

"That's nothin'," said the third kid. My dad scribbles a few words, calls it a sermon and it takes six people to collect all the money!"

Weekly Bible Verses

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.    For I have come  to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And  whoever does not take his cross and  follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.”

Introduction Bush-craft

THE FIRST FIVE C’S OF SURVIVAL

Never head into the boonies without these first 5 of the 10 C’s of Survival.

(1) Cutting Tool: Ultimately, this means a sturdy, full-tang survival knife—something that should always be on your person in the back-country. A design with a four to five-inch carbon-steel blade and a flattened back edge is typically the most dependable and versatile. Well-made survival knives allow you to do everything from clean fish to split kindling.

(2) Combustion: Being able to spark a fire is critical in a survival situation. In inclement weather, it’s the first order of business—fundamental to maintaining your core temperature. Additionally, a blaze can help you advertise your location to potential rescuers. Carry spark-catching material such as the Pathfinder Mini Inferno tinder or Gorilla Tape alongside a ferro rod and a good lighter.

(3) Cover: A common mistake committed by plenty of outdoor creationists is neglecting to include an emergency shelter in their go-to hiking packs. Even if you’re simply setting out for an afternoon trail hike, you need the ability to quickly erect a precipitation and cold-resistant covering to keep you dry and warm in the event of an unforeseen night out in the backwoods. A poncho, wool blanket, tarp, or even a plastic garbage bag will serve you well.

(4) Container: An ideal container for wilderness use is a 32-oz. stainless-steel water bottle. Staying hydrated is fundamental in an emergency, and you want a durable vessel for storing and carrying water. The high-quality metal additionally allows you to boil water—or melt snow—to render it safe to drink: You don’t want to be dealing with a gastrointestinal malady on top of your other worries.

(5) Cordage: Sure, you can fashion rope from plant materials in the backcountry—but why expend that time and effort if you don’t need to? Carry a good 100 feet of 550 cord, which can assist in a dizzying array of tasks.

THE SECOND FIVE C’S OF SURVIVAL

In the event of contingencies in the wilderness, the remaining five items of the 10 C’s of Survival can be immensely helpful to have on hand.

(6) Candle: It’s all too easy to forget about an illumination source when preparing for a day on the trail. If you’re stranded for whatever reason, the onset of night is a real threat: You can quickly hurt yourself fumbling around in the dark for kindling or water. Having more than one source of light is best—a headlamp is particularly convenient, but bring candles along as well.

(7) Cotton: It’s no weight or space burden to stuff a few cotton cloths or bandannas in your pack—a level of convenience that belies the versatility they display in the backwoods. From bandages to signaling flags, from fire-starters to head coverings, cotton bandannas are deceptively multi-use.

(8) Compass: There are plenty of methods for orienting yourself in the wilderness, from keying into

the wheel of constellations to tracking the sun’s shadow. But bringing along a durable compass with a sighting mirror gives you an unfailing tool for precise navigation—one that readily doubles as a signaling mirror.

(9) Cargo Tape: From injuries to pack malfunctions, a roll of duct tape serves as many functions in the backcountry as it does in the garage.

(10) Canvas Needle: Also called a sail needle, this little tool can be employed to repair clothing or shelters, act as a makeshift compass, dislodge nasty splinters, and for other delicate, high-precision operations.

Remember, the “survival weapons” of the 10 C’s of Survival only work when combined with the knowledge and presence-of-mind to put them to use. If you can stay calm and ward off panic—commonly your greatest threat in the wilds—you can use this basic equipment to keep yourself alive, healthy, even contented, until help arrives.

A psychiatric patient armed with a revolver and several rounds of ammunition entered Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pa. for a scheduled appointment. The patient then proceeded to fire upon hospital staff, killing one woman and wounding Dr. Lee Silverman. Silverman responded to the rampage by retrieving a pistol and firing at the patient. Three of Silverman’s shot struck the patient which allowed for other hospital employees to detain the killer. Following the incident, Silverman has been hailed as a hero. Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan stated, “If Dr. Silverman did not have the firearm and did not utilize the firearm, he’d be dead today… and other people would be dead.”

A drunk staggers into a Catholic Church, enters a confessional booth, sits down, but says nothing. The Priest coughs a few times to get his attention, but the drunk continues to sit there. The child then went to his mother, asked her the same question and she told him, "We were monkeys then we evolved to become like we are now." The child ran back to his father and said, "You lied to me!" His father replied, "No, your mom was talking about her side of the family."

PORT RICHEY (FOX 13) - A home invasion and robbery in Pasco County is exposing some problems in the 911 dispatch system. It happened earlier this week on Gwain Road in Port Richey. A man called 911 after four robbers with guns broke into his home, demanded money and prescription drugs. The dispatcher tried to transfer the call from the fire department to law enforcement side of things – but he got a voicemail just as the crooks returned to the home. Chaos ensues. The man takes matters into his own hands and shoot one of the robbers. He then tells the dispatcher that he's been robbed, and two women in the home were physically hurt. The county released a timeline showing deputies were dispatched more than three and a half minutes after the original call, but they say the transfer problems didn't slow down their response. They also say steps are being taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again, although they didn't clarify what those steps are. As for the robbers, three of them have been caught, including the guy who was shot by the homeowner. Comedy Corner:

Blond Painter Julie, the blonde, was getting pretty desperate for money. She decided to go to the nicer, richer neighborhoods around town and look for odd jobs as a handy woman. The first house she came to, a man answered the door and told Julie,"Yeah, I have a job for you. How would you like to paint the porch?" "Sure that sounds great!" said Julie. "Well, how much do you want me to pay you?" asked the man. "Is fifty bucks all right?" Julie asked. "Yeah, great. You'll find the paint and ladders you'll need in the garage." The man went back into his house to his wife who had been listening. "Fifty bucks! Does she know the porch goes all the way around the house?" asked the wife. "Well, she must, she was standing right on it!" her husband replied. About 45 minutes later, Julie knocked on the door."I'm all finished," she told the surprised homeowner. The man was amazed. "You painted the whole porch?" "Yeah," Julie replied, "I even had some paint left, so I put on two coats!" The man reached into his wallet to pay Julie. "Oh, and by the way," said Julie, "That's not a Porch, it's a Ferrari."

For the Sick A little girl was in church with her mother when she started feeling ill. "Mommy," she said, "can we leave now?" "No" her mother replied. "Well, I think I'm gonna be sick, Momma!" "Then go out the front door and around to the back of the church and then behind a bush." After about 60 seconds the little girl returned to her seat. "Were you sick?" her mom asked. "Yes." "How could you have gone all the way to the back of the church and returned so quickly?" "I didn't have to go out of the church, Mommy. They have a box next to the front door that says, 'For the Sick'."

Weekly Bible Verses

Isaiah 53:1-12 Who has believed what he has heard from us? And to whom has the arm of the  Lord  been revealed? For he grew up before him like a young plant, and like a root out of dry ground; he had no form or majesty that we should look at him, and no beauty that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.     Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned—every one—to his own way;  and the  Lord  has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,  yet he opened not his mouth;  like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away; and as for his generation, who considered that he was cut off out of the land of the living, stricken for the transgression of my people? And they made his grave with the wicked  and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the will of the  Lord  to crush him; he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offering for guilt, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant,  make many to be accounted righteous,  and he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,  and he shall divide the spoil with the strong, because he poured out his soul to death and was numbered with the transgressors; yet he bore the sin of many, and makes intercession for the transgressors.

82-year-old Charles Robbins was asleep at home in Daytona Beach Florida, when a burglar wearing a mask and carrying a hammer and screw driver attempted to break in through the front door. After awakening to the criminal’s attempts to break the front door lock with the screwdriver, Robbins retrieved a handgun, shot the criminal through the door and then called 911. The wounded burglar tried to flee, but barely made it off Robbins’ porch before collapsing dead. Local law enforcement has been supportive of Robbins’ actions, with Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood stating, “The homeowner did something the criminal justice system couldn’t do with this guy… We’re familiar with the burglar. He put him out of business.” Robbins was clear that he would take the same actions again, noting, “Better nobody try to break into my house or they’ll get the same thing he did.”

Guns: We hosted Gun Guy Radio Last Saturday, Just EDC, SIRT Training Pistol Dry fire at home and Office, clearing rooms, Training Cards and fast target acquisition. Cleaned “Puff” after some range time.

Comedy Corner:

Last Sunday, the pastor of a local church began his sermon with a supposedly true story...

"I was on a plane last week, flying from Chicago to California, when we ran into some very severe turbulence. As it got worse, the passengers became more and more alarmed, and finally even the flight attendants began to look concerned. Finally, one of them noticed that I had "REV." in front of my name on the passenger list came over to me and said, "Sir, this is really frightening. Do you suppose you could ... I don't know ... do something religious?"

"So I took up a collection."

A minister told his congregation, "Next week I plan to preach about the sin of lying. To help you understand my sermon, I want you all to read Mark 17."

The following Sunday, as he prepared to deliver his sermon, the minister asked for a show of hands. He wanted to know how many had read Mark 17. Every hand went up. The minister smiled and said,

"Mark has only sixteen chapters. I will now proceed with my sermon on the sin of lying."

Subject: What Bible are you packing?

Message Body:

Hey guys, I have a suggestion for a show topic. Christians are a lot like discerning gun owners, in the they are very particular about their Bibles. And like gun owners, Christians will almost always have more than one in their possession, for a multitude of purposes or reasons. Maybe there is the family heirloom Bible on the shelf, the highlighted and marked-up Bible in the night stand, a free Bible handed out by a local church or organization, the Bible app on their phone, etc. I personally have three paper copies: my large study Bible that my wife gave me on our wedding day (I'm convinced that it could serve as physical armor as much as spiritual armor), a leather thin-line Bible to take to work and church (EDC), and a compact BoB (Bug-out Bible) that I keep with my emergency supplies. How many Bibles do you own? And like what you put in your firearms, Christians get very opinionated about what is in their Bibles. What's in yours? KJV? NIV? ESV? Of course, most will agree that, like firearms, (almost) any version of the Bible is better than not having one at all.

I'll save my testimony for another time but I thought that would be good enough to start. Keep up the good work and I look forward to listening every week!

God bless,

Sergio

Weekly Bible Verses

Gospel Message

Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)

13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

“A” is Admit. You must admit to God that you are a sinner. You must be sorry for your sins and turn away from sinning.  Verses that support this step are:

  • Romans 3:23
    • for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
  • Romans 6:23
    • For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
  • Acts 3:19
    • Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,
  • 1 John 1:9
    • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

“B” is for Believe.  You must believe that Jesus is God’s Son and that God sent Jesus to pay       the penalty for sin. Verses about believing include:

  • John 3:16
    • For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
  • John 14:6
    • Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."
  • Romans 5:8
    • But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

“C” is for Confess. You must confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Read the        following verse:

  • Romans 10:9-10,13
    • 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved…. 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

After you admit to God that you are a sinner, repent and turn from your sin, believe that Jesus is God’s Son sent to die to pay for the sins of the world, and confess your faith in Jesus, you are a Christian and know Jesus as your Savior.

Independence Day

  2. Meaning
  3. Significance

"The second day of July, 1776, will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary Festival. It ought to be commemorated, as the Day of Deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever." ~ John Adams --Adams wrote this in a letter to his wife, Abigail, on July 3, 1776.

"While we are zealously performing the duties of good citizens and soldiers, we certainly ought not to be inattentive to the higher duties of religion. To the distinguished character of Patriot, it should be our highest glory to add the more distinguished character of Christian." ~ George Washington --The Writings of Washington, pp. 342-343.

"Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God ... What a Eutopia, what a Paradise would this region be." ~ John Adams --Diary and Autobiography of John Adams, Vol. III, p. 9.

"Resistance to tyranny becomes the Christian and social duty of each individual. ... Continue steadfast and, with a proper sense of your dependence on God, nobly defend those rights which heaven gave, and no man ought to take from us." ~John Hancock (1st Signer of the Declaration of Independence) --History of the United States of America, Vol. II, p. 229.

"The hope of a Christian is inseparable from his faith. Whoever believes in the divine inspiration of the Holy Scriptures must hope that the religion of Jesus shall prevail throughout the earth. Never since the foundation of the world have the prospects of mankind been more encouraging to that hope than they appear to be at the present time. And may the associated distribution of the Bible proceed and prosper till the Lord shall have made 'bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations, and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God' (Isaiah 52:10)." ~ John Quincy Adams (6th U.S. President) --Life of John Quincy Adams, p. 248.

Comedy Corner:

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible -- Psalm 23.  She gave the youngsters a month to learn the verse.  Little Bobby was excited about the task, but he just couldn't remember the Psalm.  After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.  On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23 in front of the congregation, Bobby was so nervous.  When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my shepherd . . . and that's all I need to know!"

When a mother saw a thunderstorm forming in mid-afternoon, she worried about her seven-year-old daughter who would be walking the three blocks from school to home.  Deciding to meet her, the mother saw her daughter walking nonchalantly along, stopping to smile whenever lightning flashed.  Seeing her mother, the little girl ran to her, explaining happily, "All the way home, God's been taking my picture!"

Thank you both for helping us out here to be obedient to God in our daily lives. The relationship of God with guns is an unserviced niche that you both fill quite nicely. Whenever you think that you may be faltering or saying the wrong thing, trust in your basis of Scripture, and your heart. I have never heard anything come from your podcast that would lead me to go astray in my daily walk with God. Keep up the good work, God is good. Your brother in Christ, Bear

Weekly Bible Verse

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.  For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.  And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.  And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.  For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell,  and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds,  he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,  if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister. "Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar." Even then, this would-be Perry Mason refused to throw in the towel: "Is it possible the patient could be alive, nevertheless?" "It is possible that he could have been alive," said the pathologist, "and practicing the law somewhere."

Ephesians 4:11-13 (ESV) And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,  to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,  until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.

Luke 9: 46-48 (ESV) An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side  and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and  whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”

The stirring of your inner parts and your compassion are held back from me.    For you are our Father, though Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us; you, O  Lord , are our Father,  our Redeemer from of old is your name. O  Lord , why do you make us wander from your ways and harden our heart, so that we fear you not?  Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your heritage. Your holy people held possession for a little while;  our adversaries have trampled down your sanctuary. We have become like those over whom you have never ruled, like those who are not called by your name.”
    2. Encourage others - Hebrews 10:23-25 “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.  And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works,  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
    3. Educate others - And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. Acts 2:42
    4. Invite others He said also to the man who had invited him, “When you give a dinner or a banquet, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relatives or rich neighbors,  lest they also invite you in return and you be repaid. But when you give a feast, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you. For you will be repaid  at  the resurrection of the just.” Luke 14:13-14

Comedy Corner:

Blond Joke:

Bubba and Junior were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.

A woman walked by and asked what they were doing. "We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole," said Bubba, "but we don't have a ladder." The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement and announced, "Eighteen feet, six inches," and walked away.

Junior shook his head and laughed. "Ain't that just like a blonde! We ask for the height, and she gives us the length!"

Lawyer Joke;

A doctor vacationing on the Riviera met an old lawyer friend and asked him what he was doing there. The lawyer replied, "Remember that lousy real estate I bought? Well, it caught fire, so here I am with the fire insurance proceeds. What are you doing here?" The doctor replied, "Remember that lousy real estate I had in Mississippi? Well, the river overflowed, and here I am with the flood insurance proceeds." The lawyer looked puzzled. "Gee," he asked, "how did you start the flood?"

Hello Fellas,

I've been listening to the older episodes once again because I really enjoy the way you explain those verses. It really helps me with my walk. I listened to the Happy New Year episode again tonight and I was curious how your new years resolutions were going. I was also wondering what your thoughts on fasting are as I have been considering starting one. Thanks for the great show. God Bless.

Wish List Additions AR platform .458 socom rossi circuit judge in .410/45LC and I must admit after hearing Doug talk about his Winchester 1897 I did a google search on it and i would LOVE to get my hands on one of those in 12 gauge. I really like those.

Good evening Gentlemen,

My name is Peter, and I have been listening to your show for about the last 6 months.  I have previously contacted you through facebook, and mentioned how I had introduced your show to a couple of my fellow AWANA workers as well as our youth minister.

I am writing to you today to ask for your advice regarding a situation that has come up in my church.  Tonight we had a going away party for our youth leader and his wife.  They are moving away from the metro area to a small town in the northern part of the state, where Derek has taken a position with the local fire department as an EMT.  While talking to Derek about his plans, and who would be taking over his position, I was asked if I was interested in helping out.  I have been involved in the children's ministry at the church for the last 5 years, first helping with Vacation Bible School as an all around assistant, and then with AWANA as a listener with T&T, and then as an assistant and finally leader of rec time.

While my wife and I enjoy helping the children, we both have felt burnt out and were planning on taking the next year off from service.  Tonight's events make me feel like I am still being called to serve, but I feel that I am in no way qualified to serve in a position with such responsibility.

My Life has been a series of ups and downs for the last 8 years.  I served 12 years as a law enforcement officer, before that was taken away because of a trainee accusing me of trying to shoot him.  During the investigations and subsequent legal battle,(altogether nearly 4 years)  this individual made claims under oath that were untrue, and even changed his story on several occasions.  Also, witness testimony, while not completely refuting his statements, did not exactly back up my side of the story.  It was during this time that I accepted Christ as my savior, and asked for his guidance.  I eventually felt that the best option for me and my family was to stop fighting and accept a misdemeanor plea bargain and take probation.

Despite my past, I have been welcomed by my church, and entrusted with the care and guidance of the children.  While I have read the Bible, and participate in study groups, I am in no way prepared to lead.  What advice would you give a person in my position.  I feel it is right to help, but I don't want to hinder the growth of the ministry, or worse be the cause of its undoing because of my past or inexperience.

Seeking wisdom to spread His glory.

Your Brother in Christ,

Peter

Hello Troy,

My name is Tom Buckley and I live in Lexington. I started listening to your podcast a couple months ago and I really look forward to listening each week. I am in the process of going back and catching up on the older episodes now too.

I usually carry one of two guns, either my SIG P938 or my 3" Kimber Master Carry Series Ultra 1911 - which is my first laser equipped gun. Like most serious CCDW holders I am liking, then not liking, then looking always for different holsters - more so than actual guns!

I am a brother of yours in Christ, and as you would imagine I enjoy guns as well.

In fact I insure a number of gun related & outdoor sports businesses - I am a Property & Casualty Insurance agent

We have a house down at Lake Cumberland, and down there is where I shoot the most. I'm not a big hunter, but mostly shoot for fun and also am a CCDW license holder. I don't know how close you are to Russell Springs, but if you ever want to come by on a weekend day we also shoot at a couple different farms down there where we can set up a good amount of targets, and just have a little fun.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy, as well as appreciate, what you guys do on the podcast!

Keep on sharing the word!

Thanks,

Tom

Troy and Doug,

I have contacted the show a couple of times over the past year or so, and I even won a hat from you guys (yep, that’s my picture on your instagram site). Today I am writing to get you opinion on a matter that involves God and, well not so much guns, but shooting. I am a photographer in Charleston, SC and I keep listen to several photography podcasts. I recent New Mexico court case has brought to light once again the debate of gay rights. Here is the link to the news article from the Christianity Today website:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2013/august/nm-supreme-court-photographers-cant-refuse-gay-weddings.html?paging=off

To give just an overview, the photographer was sued for refusing to shoot a same sex wedding. I am fully aware of God's view on same sex couples so my question is; does that view extend to business transactions? Troy, I know you are in sales, would you refuse to sell to someone that is married to someone of the same sex? And, if all sin is equal in the eyes of our Lord, and Jesus said “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” are we to condemn and alienate homosexuals for that?

I guess I should have prefaced this email with letting you know that my questions are not directed to create a debate on the matter. I bring it to you guys in hopes of finding the middle ground between the rights of the photographer and the rights of the couple. I reckon that this is the cross roads that every country with freedoms have to face, the separation of church and state. I also am aware of what I would have done if I were the photographer. I guess to sum up my question, what is the biblical stance of being in that situation? Would it have been wrong in God's eyes if she had shot the wedding?

Thanks for the awesome podcast and everything you do. It is truly and inspiration.

Sincerely,

Steven A. Campbell

Subject: IL CCW laws & church carry

Message Body:

Troy and Doug,

I couldn't wait for the Pistol Packing Preachers episode and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

One thing I wanted to mention about IL CCW laws is that places of worship are only considered private property, and as such, unless they post the official signage at the entrance (which looks like this https://ccl4illinois.com/ccw/Public/Signage.aspx, you are legally allowed to carry.

My church does not have a sign posted, but I am pretty sure that this is due to ignorance. That being said, I'm a bit torn on whether to talk to my pastor about CCW or not. If I proactively ask the pastor about the subject, it will most likely open up a can of worms. Maybe that is a discussion that has to happen in the future, but right now, ignorance is bliss. Do you guys think that people should notify their pastors that they are carrying in church?

If a pastor asked either of you to disarm yourself before coming to church, would you respect the pastor's wishes, move churches, or do 'concealed is concealed'? I guess this would also depend on how long you've been attending that particular church.

Thanks again for your show; I look forward to it every week.

Subject: God & Guns Activity Report

Hi Troy & Hi Doug,

Wanted to give a report on my latest God & Guns activity. My wife and I invited several young families with kids to join us for a weekend at a friend's deer camp. (Deer camp? Jeez this place is nicer than my house) My youngest daughter helped the kids learn & archery and to use the BB gun. I helped the adults learn to shoot using our faithful lever action .22 Henry. WE had some nice hikes and talks around the campfire. On Sunday morning My lovely bride & I lead a devotional/sharing time.

After we got back a girl in one family joined the National Archery in Schools Program Team at their school and another family went out and bought a Daisy for their their son & daughter.

We had a fine time together enjoying the outdoors & shooting sports but most importantly we were able to show God's love to some good folks.

Take care guys. Dwayne

Hey Troy and Doug,

Really enjoyed your last episode with Rev. Kenn Blanchard. I have listened to The Unnamed Church podcast of his for a little while now, it has been very helpful for me to learn more about the scriptures. Maybe some of the listeners of this show might want to check it out? Keep up the great work, shows like yours and the Unnamed church have been a true blessing to me and I thank God for that.

Weekly Bible Verse

Romans 6:1-23 (ESV)

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?  By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?  Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.    For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.  We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.  For one who has died has been set free from sin.  Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.  We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.    Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.  Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.  For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.    What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!  Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?  But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,  and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.  I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.     For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.  But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

From: Brandon J D. My Situation Hey guys figured I might give you an update on my situation. My last day at the job we talked about previously is tomorrow and I am going to take on a position in corrections at the county sheriffs department. I hope one day to move up to patrol but we will see if God has that in store for me. Also listening to the past few shows I am thinking more and more about getting my C&C permit but first I want to find a 45 that fits me. I have listened to you guys talk down on High Points a lot but I have to admit I purchased a 9mm for my wife for our anniversary and she loves it. The selling point for me was the made in the USA as well as the glowing reviews of their customer service. She was just wanting something to shoot in her spare time and at the price point this kinda fit the bill. As for me I stepped away from guns for a bit and bought a Barnett crossbow which I have loved! As I said before I am going to start looking for a good EDC 45. As far as wish list the new Apex looks like an interesting platform but I would have to find someone that owns it to out some rounds through it. Lastly I wanted to thank you guys for all your help in my time of need and keep up the great work, your show is a blessing! Your Brother in Christ, Brandon D.

James G. Subj: No Gun No Money Hi Doug, On a recent episode of the podcast, you mentioned the no guns no money card.  It was not clear to me if you knew where to get them.  I cam across them a few weeks ago, and made some up for my personal use.  I am sending you the file that I printed them from. The file worked just fine for me. I print my own business cards, so I already had the correct card stock.  I purchase at Staples business card stock, with 10 cards per page, 2 across and 5 high.  It works great, and I can give them out anywhere I see a "No Guns Allowed" sign at a business.  Hope it works well for you. Great job on the podcast.  And stay away from them snakes! Jim

Weekly Bible Verses And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable,  “A sower went out to sow his seed. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up,  it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell among  thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. An armed man wearing a bandana entered the Donut Hut in Las Vegas, Nev. and attempted to rob the store and the customers inside. The store’s owner, Sothy Seang, got into an altercation with the criminal, during which he directed his girlfriend to retrieve a gun. The girlfriend complied, and as the robber tried to wrest control of the gun, a shot was fired, striking the thief and causing him to flee. The thief was later captured by police when he sought treatment for his wound. Seang purchased a firearm for his business following an earlier robbery. Comedy Corner: A Movie Bet

Two fellas were watching an old cowboy movie and it came to the part when the cowboy, on his horse, at full gallop, was headed right towards a cliff. One of the guys said to the other, "Hey, I’ll bet you 10 bucks that he rides over the cliff." The other said, "Your on!"

Well the cowboy and the horse went right over the cliff. The fella that lost the bet paid up. A while later, the guy who won said, "Hey, I’m feeling a little guilty about our bet and need to make a confession ... I already have seen the movie." The other fella replied, "Well, I have also seen the movie before ... but I didn’t think he’d do it again!"

Romans 13Weekly Bible Verses

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.  For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,  for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.  Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.  Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Comedy Corner:

Overcrowded church The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sunday morning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered thru the rear of the church. One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church. They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons. The one in the middle announced, "Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!" Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor. After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit. The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher, "All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now. You may begin the service."

Do you go to church? A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.

Weekly Bible Verses Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,  “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.”  But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. But the  Lord  hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep.  So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.” Jonah 1: 1-6 (ESV)

First the quote, from Mr. Adams from 1798: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other,” the Texas Republican said.

Mr. Gohmert then quipped, Raw Story reported: “It only is fit for people who cling to their God and their guns, you know?”

Doug - On call this weekend and didn't get to do any shooting.

Troy - Traded my Glock 30 Gen 2.5 for A Benelli Supernova Tactical, moved some trees out of the way for my range but ran out of time and diesel.

Comedy Corner:

Tough Call

Four friends went deer hunting and paired off in twos for the day. That night, one of the hunters returned alone, staggering under the weight of an ten-point buck.

"Where's Billy Bob?"

"Billy Bob had a stroke of some kind. He's a couple of miles back up the trail."

"You left Billy Bob laying out there and carried the deer back?"

"A tough call," nodded the hunter "but I figured no one, in their right mind, is going to steal Billy Bob."

A fella was tending to his cattle one morning when out of a cedar grove another man came carrying a turkey over his shoulder.

"Sure is a nice bird. Where did you get him?" asked the farmer.

"Back up in that cedar grove," replied the hunter.

"I've been here all morning and I didn't hear the shot, how did you get him?" the farmer inquired.

"Well, I'm sooooo ugly, I just kinda hunker down amongst the bushes and when he gets in real close, I jump out a screamin' and making such a face that it "uglies" them to death. I used to take my wife along, but she tore 'em up too bad".

Some people REALLY love Christmas.  Me, I love Thanksgiving.

Last year I had my chance to do the traditional thing of shooting my own turkey for Thanksgiving.

Man, you should have seen the people scatter in the meat department!

Weekly Bible Verse John 13: 1-20 (ESV)

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. During supper, when the devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him,  Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,  rose from supper. He laid aside his outer garments, and taking a towel, tied it around his waist.  Then he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around him.  He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, “Lord, do you wash my feet?”  Jesus answered him,  “What I am doing  you do not understand now, but afterward you will understand.” Peter said to him, “You shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him,  “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, not my feet only but also my hands and my head!”  Jesus said to him, “The one who has bathed does not need to wash,  except for his feet, but is completely clean. And  you are clean,  but not every one of you.” For he knew who was to betray him; that was why he said,  “Not all of you are clean.” When he had washed their feet and put on his outer garments and resumed his place, he said to them,  “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example,  that you also should do just as I have done to you. Truly, truly, I say to you,  a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. I am not speaking of all of you; I know  whom I have chosen. But  the Scripture will be fulfilled, ‘He who ate my bread has lifted his heel against me.’I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

The husband responded by retrieving a gun, as his wife called the authorities. When the home invader managed to get into the home through a back door, the husband shot the criminal. The wounded home invader then moved in a way that made the husband believe he was reaching for something, prompting the husband to shoot the intruder again. The home invader later died at a nearby hospital.  (KPRC, Houston, Texas, 04/21/14)

Comedy Corner:

A mother took her little boy to church.

While in church the little boy said, Mommy, I have to pee.

The mother said to the little boy, it’s not appropriate to say the word pee in church. So, from now on whenever you have to pee just tell me that you have to whisper.

The following Sunday, the little boy went to church with his father and during the service said to his father, Daddy, I have to whisper.

The father looked at him and said, Okay, just whisper in my ear.

A Minnesota couple decided to vacation to Florida during the winter. They planned to stay at the very same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier. Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel schedules. So, the husband left Minnesota and flew to Florida on Thursday. His wife would fly down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel. There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an e-mail to his wife. However, he accidentally left out one letter in her e-mail address, and without realizing his error, he sent the e-mail.

Meanwhile.....somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who was called home to glory following a sudden heart attack. The widow decided to check her e-mail, expecting messages from relatives and friends. After reading the first message, she fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer screen which read:

To: My Loving Wife

Subject: I've Arrived

Date: 16 May 2003

I know you're surprised to hear from me. They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones. I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then! Hope your journey is not as uneventful as mine was.

P.S. Sure is hot down here!

From: "Luke"

Troy and Doug,

I really appreciate your method of ministry. The way you explain the Bible verse really gives me a better understanding.  I don't read metaphors well and rarely take anything more than EXACTLY what is written away from my studies. I grew up in the church, but have always felt lost. I have always been a backslider and a poor example of a Christian. I think God has used you (Troy) to convict me, as well as give me comfort. You have touched on several of my personal struggles in your testimonies. It is such a relief/inspiration to hear a good Christian man that has gone through some of the same things I have. I have always called myself a Christian and yet have always felt out of place around other Christians, at church or otherwise. Some of my unspeakable thoughts leave me feeling like its hopeless and I will never be good enough, but your testimonies have helped me see otherwise. Please don't worry so much about going off on a tangent because those times you do are always my favorite parts of the show. I always get a lot out of them. I listen to the old shows over and over while waiting for the next.

Doug you did a great job with the show last week. I spent some time living outside Ft Valley and working in Perry several years ago, so I'm familiar with your neck of the woods.

In closing I too hope I didn't ramble too much, but I wanted to let you know that all of the work you guys are doing through God with the show is impacting/renewing my spiritual walk. Thank you and God bless.

Show Listener Mark

Doug,

Yup, still atheist, and still listening, not every week, but you guys do have some great topics. Thanks for the shows Mark

Weekly Bible Verse Romans 9:11-26 (ESV) “though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls—  she was told, “The older will serve the younger.”  As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”    What shall we say then? Is there injustice on God’s part? By no means!  For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”  So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.  For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I might show my power in you, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”  So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.    You will say to me then, “Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”  But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, “Why have you made me like this?”  Has the potter no right over the clay, to make out of the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for dishonorable use?  What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,  in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he has prepared beforehand for glory—  even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?  As indeed he says in Hosea,  “Those who were not my people I will call ‘my people,’ and her who was not beloved I will call ‘beloved.’”     “And in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ there they will be called ‘sons of the living God.’”

Great book series I’d recommend God Built by Steve Farrar

Hunting Trip

A young man from the city went to visit his farmer uncle. For the first few days, the uncle showed him the usual things - chickens, cows, crops, etc. After three days, however, it was obvious that the nephew was getting bored, and the uncle was running out of things to amuse him with.

Finally, the uncle decided to give them a real treat. "Why don't you grab a gun, take my prized hunting dogs, and go have some fun shooting?" This seemed to cheer the nephew up, and with enthusiasm, off he went, dogs in trail.

After a few hours, the nephew returned.

"How did you enjoy that?" asked the uncle.

"It was great!" exclaimed the nephew. "Got any more dogs?"

Holy Dog

An avid duck hunter was in the market for a new bird dog. His search ended when he found a dog that could actually walk on water to retrieve a duck. Shocked by his find, he was sure none of his friends would ever believe him. He decided to try to break the news to a friend of his, the eternal pessimist who refused to be impressed with anything. This, surely, would impress him.

He invited him to hunt with him and his new dog. As they waited by the shore, a flock of ducks flew by. they fired, and a duck fell. The dog responded and jumped into the water. The dog, however, did not sink but instead walked across the water to retrieve the bird, never getting more than his paws wet. This continued all day long; each time a duck fell, the dog walked across the surface of the water to retrieve it. The pessimist watched carefully, saw everything, but did not say a single word.

On the drive home the hunter asked his friend, "Did you notice anything unusual about my new dog?" "I sure did," responded the pessimist. "He can’t swim!"

iTunes Review: Stout69 (USA) Refreshing Rating: 5 Stars I found your show while I was searching for info on an AR build and I really love it. Awesome work guys. Thank you and God bless. Weekly Bible Verse

Shepherd the Flock of God 1 Peter 5:1-11 (ESV) So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

SPOKANE, Wash. -After the third robbery in a month Sunday night, the owner of Spokane's Jitterz Java on Northwest Boulevard has had enough and says the next person to try may end up face to face with a gun.

Sara Chapel says some of her employees are already bringing their own guns to work, no matter what shift they are working. But after Sunday, they were will always be a gun at the coffee stand.

In the most recent burglary, a man aggressively tried to open a window at the stand and appeared to have a gun. The barista kept the window locked, grabbed her gun and called police. The man took off before police arrived.

"It is just a little aggravating, you know, people are just out for themselves these days," said Chapel. "It's just sad to put other people in harms way to just get a few hundred dollars."

Police say the suspect is described as a white man in his 30's, around 5' 10" with a medium build, dark hair and a goatee.

Weekly Bible Verse Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.  But he answered them,  “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you,  there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this  must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up     to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many  false prophets will arise  and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased,  the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom  will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:1-14 (ESV)

NRA Armed Citizen Chicago homeowner fends off thieves, faces charges for expired FOID, The Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill. February 1, 2014 Posted on February 5, 2014

A homeowner was in bed in Chicago, Ill. when he was awakened by his daughter, who alerted him to a suspicious disturbance in a nearby apartment. The homeowner, who relies on crutches, went to investigate, unlocking a door between his home and the apartment which his daughter suspected had been broken into. He then returned to his bedroom to retrieve a firearm. When the homeowner returned to the unlocked door, he encountered two intruders who charged at him. The homeowner responded by firing at the criminals, striking and killing one, and causing the other and a third accomplice to flee the scene. Unfortunately, following the shooting, police discovered that the homeowner failed to fully comply with Illinois’ onerous firearms laws, having let his Firearm Owners Identification card expire. Police charged the homeowner with a misdemeanor.
