Comedy Corner: Perfect Woman Once upon a time, a perfect man and a perfect woman met. After a perfect courtship, they had a perfect wedding. Their life was, of course "perfect." One snowy, stormy Christmas Eve, this perfect couple was driving their perfect car (a SUV) along a winding road, when they noticed someone at the side of the road in distress. Being the perfect couple they stopped to help. There stood Santa Claus with a huge bundle of toys. Not wanting to disappoint any children on the eve of Christmas, the perfect couple loaded Santa and his toys into their vehicle. Soon they were driving along delivering the toys. Unfortunately, the driving conditions deteriorated and the perfect couple and Santa Claus had an accident. Only one of them survived the accident. Who was the survivor? The perfect woman survived. She's the only one who really existed in the first place. Everyone knows there is no Santa Claus and there is no such thing as a perfect man. So, if there is no perfect man and no Santa Claus, the perfect woman must have been driving. This explains why there was an accident.

Weekly Bible Verses In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light. 9 The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.11 He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him. 12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 (John bore witness about him, and cried out, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.’”) 16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known. John 1:1-18 (ESV)

Most likely Jesus was born on September 29, the same as the date of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles. It would have at least been appropriate for Christ to have been born on such a date, for it was at His birth that ‘the Word was made flesh and dwelt (literally tabernacled) among us’ (John 1:14).

This would mean, then, that His conception took place in late December. Thus, it might well be that when we today celebrate Christ’s birth at what we call Christmas (i.e., ‘Christ sent’), we are actually celebrating His miraculous conception, the time when the Father sent the Son into the world, in the virgin’s womb. This darkest time of the year—the time of the pagan Saturnalia, and the time when the sun (the physical ‘light of the world’) is at its greatest distance from the Holy Land—would surely be an appropriate time for God to send the spiritual ‘light of the world’ into the world as the ‘Savior, which is Christ the Lord’ (Luke 2:11)”

WHAT DO DEER THINK?

Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a French journalist and animal rights activist. The discussion came around to deer hunting. The journalist asked, "What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one that killed my brother?' "

Nugent replied, "Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, 'What am I going to eat next, who am I going to sex with next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.' "

The interview ended at that point.

Troy and Doug,

I like morale patches, and I have a few from some of the podcasts I listen to. I  wear them on my hat, and keep them on my backpack to show off the shows I support.  I wanted a God and Guns patch so I had one made.  I used Mutiny Shop ( mutinyshop.com ) since I have used them before for a custom patch for my work.  The patches are quality pvc patches with hook and loop backing.  I attached a photo to show the size and picture quality of the patch.  I like the way the patch turned out, and I would like to send you guys a few.   Let me know what you think, and if you are interested it would be my pleasure to send you some. I love the show, and may God continue to bless you both.

Thank you, Jeff Bowen

Bible Verses

“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. (Matt. 5: 13-16 ESV)

Armed clerk fights off masked robber, The Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay, Fla. 04/19/15

TAMPA — The robber entered the ABC Liquor store Sunday, pulled a gun and ordered the two clerks to the ground. One of them ignored the command and pulled his own gun.

The clerk fired at the robber, police said, but wasn't sure if he hit his target. The robber fired back, just grazing the clerk in the face.

Then the assailant made what might have been his best decision during the 2:55 p.m. robbery — he fled on foot.

Tampa police said they were still searching for the unidentified robber, who covered the lower part of his face with a towel, wore a black hat, sunglasses and a gray T-shirt over a black, long-sleeve shirt. Police did not say if he got away with any cash during the robbery at the 3707 E Hillsborough Avenue liquor store.

Police using dogs combed an area near the store searching for the suspect. Police said they didn't know if he had a car waiting for him near the store.

The clerk who pulled the gun suffered only a minor injury from the bullet grazing him. A second clerk also suffered a minor injury caused by glass broken by one of the bullets. No customers were in the store during the attempted robbery.

Police did not identify the clerks, both of whom were taken to an area hospital.

Day After Christmas The pastor was looking over the manger scene the day after Christmas when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing. He went outside and saw a little boy pulling a new red wagon. In the wagon was Jesus.

We walked up to the boy and said, "Hi, there. Where did you get the baby Jesus?"

The boy answered honestly, "In the church."

"Why did you take him?" the pastor asked.

"Well," said the boy, "I prayed to the Lord Jesus and asked him for a wagon for Christmas. I told Him that if He gave me one, I'd take Him for a ride in it."

Bible Verses

DO GOOD IN SUFFERING (1 PET. 4:12-19).

Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And “If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good. Dear Doug and Troy,

I continue to enjoy listening to your podcast. It was nice to hear some Chuck Norris jokes again. My all time favorite is still from episode 011, listening to Brandt try to share his own Chuck Norris joke.

In the earlier shows when Chuck Norris jokes were given in every comedy corner, I would e-mail the jokes to my brother and sister. My brother Dan seems to have inherited the creative story telling ability in our family and would come up with his own jokes. I collected the jokes and now send them to you in case you ever want to use any.

Thanks again for the great show.

In Christ, Ken

From: Dwayne Subject: Hey Guys

Been busy and just now catching up on your podcasts. Glad Doug was prepared to protect his family but didn't have to. Hate to think what would have happened had he not been prepared though.

Also glad to hear that Troy is using his knowledge to help keep his church safe. Both these things are excellent examples of the need for not only responsible Christian gun ownership but a willingness to share knowledge, skills and abilities.

Speaking of being busy I am leaving my current job and taking a new one about 3 hours away. I would appreciate your prayers and the prayers of the other listeners as we try to sell a house, buy a house, find a new church and all the other stuff that comes with relocating. Please pray for God’s guidance and peace so the stress on my lovely bride and daughters can be kept to a minimum.

Take care, Dwayne

Bible Verses UNITED WITH CHRIST WE BEAR GOOD FRUIT

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. NRA Armed Citizen Homeowner kills one of two home invaders, The Hickory Record, Hickory, N.C. 02/25/15

A homeowner in Claremont, N.C. became aware of a break-in attempt, retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun and called 911. A pair of criminals eventually made their way inside the home, but when they came upon the homeowner, the resident fired, striking and killing one of the home invaders and causing the other to flee.

Following the incident, Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid told a local media outlet, “No one likes to take anybody’s life… But at this point, he thought his life was being threatened and protected himself and his wife, which he has a right to do.” The sheriff also made clear that the suspect who fled could face felony murder charges in the death of his accomplice. Dear Troy and Doug,

I hope you guys are doing well. Nice work with the show this week. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys at NRA. Have you guys ever thought about doing a show on Oath Keepers? I think one of you is an Oathkeeper. The movement is fascinating and seems to be spreading and it could be interesting to let those of us outside the movement know what it's all about. I think a lot of people might look at it and see another militia, but Oathkeepers seems to be much broader than that. Anyway, do what you want with that idea.

Along came St. Peter with the homeliest woman he ever saw. St. Peter chained them together and said, "Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this homely woman".

The next day, the second guy stepped accidentally on a duck and along came St. Peter, who didn't miss a thing, and with him was another extremely homely woman. He chained them together with the same admonishment as the first.

The third guy had observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to a horrible looking woman was very careful where he stepped. He managed to go for months without stepping on any ducks. Then one day, St. Peter came up to him with the most gorgeous woman he had ever laid eyes on. St. Peter chained them together without saying a word.

The guy remarked, "I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all eternity?"

She replied, "I don't know about you, but I stepped on a duck"!

From: Daniel Subject: Bartering Message Body: Hey guys. Love the show! Thanks for taking the time out of your lives to produce the podcast.

Had a quick request. You guys are always talking about the guns you've traded or anything in general that you've to traded with people. Could you do a podcast on bartering? I think it's kind of a lost art and I would enjoy hearing some of y'all's tips, tricks and stories about your bartering experiences. I'm not much good at it yet but it sounds like there are some awesome deals to be had. Thanks!

Bible Verses "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment. The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son. But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:3-8 ESV)

  • Meet at neutral safe well lit place if at all possible, take partner with you if possible.
  • Keep emotion out of it.
  • Don’t drive further than they are willing to, unless too big to bring to you.
  • Ask up front if they are willing to negotiate.
  • Let them name the price and talk as much as possible.
  • Never make an offer unless forced, and then make a dirt cheap offer that will get them talking.
  • Take your time looking over the item. Noting every blemish, scratch, area of concern. Make sure it works, in the case of firearms with permission of owner I clear the gun and check it by dry firing or use of snap caps to make sure they cycle and the hammer goes click.
  • Find out who the decision maker is and only deal with them, if they aren't there then don't go.
  • Have multiple things you are willing to barter with, cash is last for you to put up.
  • Always trade up. Shotguns to rifles, Rifles to handguns. Also brand names up and value up.
  • Be willing to walk away. There is another deal around the corner.
  • Make a fair trade don’t take advantage of people who are not capable of making a good decision, don’t burn bridges you may trade again with them, don’t brag about ripping someone off you’ll get a bad reputation and people won’t refer others to you.

A Socialist, Muslim and a Democrat walked into a bar. The bartender said “Mr. President, What can I get for you.”

A Senator is in a restaurant and the waiter brings over the rolls, but no butter. "May I have some butter, please?" The waiter gives a slight nod and wanders off. Ten minutes later, still no butter. The senator catches his eye.

"May I have some butter, Please?"

Still the vaguest of responses, and after ten more minutes, still no butter.

"Maybe you don't know who I am," says the senator. "I'm a Princeton graduate, a Rhodes scholar an All-American basketball player who played with the New York Knicks in the pros, and I'm currently a United States senator, chairman of the International Debt Subcommittee of the Senate Finance Committee, chairman of the Water and Power Subcommittee of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and a member of the Senate Select Intelligence Committee."

"Maybe you don't know who I am," said the waiter. "I'm the guy who's in charge of the butter".

Bible Verses

Warning Against Worldliness 1 What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? 2You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you suppose it is to no purpose that the Scripture says, “He yearns jealously over the spirit that he has made to dwell in us”? 6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you. 11 Do not speak evil against one another, brothers. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor? James 4:1-12 (ESV)

Comedy Corner: Name the Capitals

A blonde was complaining to her friend about constantly being called a dumb blonde. Her friend tells her "go do something to prove them wrong! Why don't you learn all the state capitals or something?" The blonde thinks this is a great idea, and locks herself up for two weeks studying.

The next party she goes to, some guy is making dumb blonde comments to her. She gets all indignant and claims, "I'm NOT a dumb blonde. In fact, I can name ALL the state capitals!"

The guy doesn't believe her, so she dares him to test her. He says "Okay, what's the Capital of Montana?"

The blonde tosses her hair in triumph and says, "That's easy! It's M!"

Can I see President Clinton

A man walks up to the Marine guard at the White House front gate and asked to see President Clinton. The guard says "Sorry sir but Clinton is no longer president."

The man comes back the next day and again approaches the same guard and asks to see President Clinton. Again the guard says "Sir, Clinton is no longer president." The man leaves but comes back the third day and again asked to see President Clinton.

The guard says "Sir...you have been here three days in a row asking to see President Clinton...and I have told you each time that Clinton is no longer president...what gives?"

The man says "I know... I just like hearing it."

Weekly Bible Verses & Main Topic

6th Commandment - Do not Murder* The sixth commandment helps us to understand... 1. What murder is (Deut. 5:17). You shall not murder (Deut. 5:17). Are There Exceptions? Self Defense (Neh. 4:11-14). Exodus 22:2-3 reads, “If a thief is found breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there shall be no bloodguilt for him, but if the sun has risen on him, there shall be bloodguilt for him.” So even after the Commands are given in Exodus 20, we can see that God permits the taking of a life if one’s own life is in potential danger. Capital Punishment Genesis 9:6 not only shows that we are to value human life because of creation; it also points out that if a man kills another man, his life was also to be taken. Even before the law was given to Israel—before the Commandment not to murder—God established capital punishment. This punishment speaks to the severity of the crime. The taking of a life warrants a punishment in kind—a death for a death. Just War In Scripture, God at times commanded battles between nations. Such battles and wars were God’s hand of justice against the wicked. Examples of God sanctioning war can be found throughout the historical books of the Old Testament. Although men and women are killed in battle, there must be a difference between the act of murder and a death in battle. Jesus Himself said, “My kingdom is not of this world… If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world” (John 18:36). 2. What drives it (Matt. 5:21-22). You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire (Matt. 5:21-22). Words Can Kill - Bullying

Murder Affects Us All - Abortion, Infanticide, Democide, genocide, euthanasia.

3. The cure for it (1 John 3:10-15). By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him (1 John 3:10-15).

Conclusion "The Sixth Commandment forbids murder, yet as Jesus showed, the intent of the Commandment addresses the words that we say and ultimately the heart behind these actions. Murder—and the heart of anger behind it—denies the inherent value of human life and strikes out against the image of God in humanity. For this reason, God takes murder very seriously. In fact, unrepentant murderers will not inherit the kingdom of God (Rev. 21:8). But the work of Jesus on the cross can cleanse even this sin and change the attitude of the heart. Our world is full of people who do not know that they were made in the image of God and are valuable to Him. Nor do they fully recognize the eternal consequences of the anger in their hearts or the actions that overflow from their hearts. Their hatred even extends to God Himself. Yet as Jesus loved us enough to die for us while we were still His enemies, we ought to love these people in the name of Jesus that they too may be freed from hatred to love God and others. A life that is pleasing to God is one that has moral purity not only in its actions, but also in its desires of heart.9 —Wayne Grudem Every destructive emotion bears its own harvest, but anger’s fruit is the most bitter of all.10 —Billy Graham

Clerk halts robber armed with rifle, WFSB, Connecticut, 08/06/14

A man armed with a rifle entered Congress Mini Mart in New Haven, Conn. and attempted to rob the store. At some point the thief left, then traveled to the nearby Nino’s Market convenience store and attempted to rob it. The clerk at Nino’s responded to the threat by retrieving a gun and shooting the criminal in the chest, killing him. Police have confirmed that the clerk was in compliance with Connecticut’s gun laws. Bizarrely, the clerks at Congress Mini Mart and Nini’s Market are brothers.

Blond Joke:

Bubba and Junior were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.

A woman walked by and asked what they were doing. "We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole," said Bubba, "but we don't have a ladder." The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement and announced, "Eighteen feet, six inches," and walked away.

Junior shook his head and laughed. "Ain't that just like a blonde! We ask for the height, and she gives us the length!"

Lawyer Joke;

A doctor vacationing on the Riviera met an old lawyer friend and asked him what he was doing there. The lawyer replied, "Remember that lousy real estate I bought? Well, it caught fire, so here I am with the fire insurance proceeds. What are you doing here?" The doctor replied, "Remember that lousy real estate I had in Mississippi? Well, the river overflowed, and here I am with the flood insurance proceeds." The lawyer looked puzzled. "Gee," he asked, "how did you start the flood?"

Hello Fellas,

I've been listening to the older episodes once again because I really enjoy the way you explain those verses. It really helps me with my walk. I listened to the Happy New Year episode again tonight and I was curious how your new years resolutions were going. I was also wondering what your thoughts on fasting are as I have been considering starting one. Thanks for the great show. God Bless.

Good evening Gentlemen,

My name is Peter, and I have been listening to your show for about the last 6 months.  I have previously contacted you through facebook, and mentioned how I had introduced your show to a couple of my fellow AWANA workers as well as our youth minister.

I am writing to you today to ask for your advice regarding a situation that has come up in my church.  Tonight we had a going away party for our youth leader and his wife.  They are moving away from the metro area to a small town in the northern part of the state, where Derek has taken a position with the local fire department as an EMT.  While talking to Derek about his plans, and who would be taking over his position, I was asked if I was interested in helping out.  I have been involved in the children's ministry at the church for the last 5 years, first helping with Vacation Bible School as an all around assistant, and then with AWANA as a listener with T&T, and then as an assistant and finally leader of rec time.

While my wife and I enjoy helping the children, we both have felt burnt out and were planning on taking the next year off from service.  Tonight's events make me feel like I am still being called to serve, but I feel that I am in no way qualified to serve in a position with such responsibility.

My Life has been a series of ups and downs for the last 8 years.  I served 12 years as a law enforcement officer, before that was taken away because of a trainee accusing me of trying to shoot him.  During the investigations and subsequent legal battle,(altogether nearly 4 years)  this individual made claims under oath that were untrue, and even changed his story on several occasions.  Also, witness testimony, while not completely refuting his statements, did not exactly back up my side of the story.  It was during this time that I accepted Christ as my savior, and asked for his guidance.  I eventually felt that the best option for me and my family was to stop fighting and accept a misdemeanor plea bargain and take probation.

Despite my past, I have been welcomed by my church, and entrusted with the care and guidance of the children.  While I have read the Bible, and participate in study groups, I am in no way prepared to lead.  What advice would you give a person in my position.  I feel it is right to help, but I don't want to hinder the growth of the ministry, or worse be the cause of its undoing because of my past or inexperience.

Seeking wisdom to spread His glory.

Your Brother in Christ,

Peter

Hello Troy,

My name is Tom Buckley and I live in Lexington. I started listening to your podcast a couple months ago and I really look forward to listening each week. I am in the process of going back and catching up on the older episodes now too.

I usually carry one of two guns, either my SIG P938 or my 3" Kimber Master Carry Series Ultra 1911 - which is my first laser equipped gun. Like most serious CCDW holders I am liking, then not liking, then looking always for different holsters - more so than actual guns!

I am a brother of yours in Christ, and as you would imagine I enjoy guns as well.

In fact I insure a number of gun related & outdoor sports businesses - I am a Property & Casualty Insurance agent

We have a house down at Lake Cumberland, and down there is where I shoot the most. I'm not a big hunter, but mostly shoot for fun and also am a CCDW license holder. I don't know how close you are to Russell Springs, but if you ever want to come by on a weekend day we also shoot at a couple different farms down there where we can set up a good amount of targets, and just have a little fun.

Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy, as well as appreciate, what you guys do on the podcast!

Keep on sharing the word!

Thanks,

Tom

Troy and Doug,

I have contacted the show a couple of times over the past year or so, and I even won a hat from you guys (yep, that’s my picture on your instagram site). Today I am writing to get you opinion on a matter that involves God and, well not so much guns, but shooting. I am a photographer in Charleston, SC and I keep listen to several photography podcasts. I recent New Mexico court case has brought to light once again the debate of gay rights. Here is the link to the news article from the Christianity Today website:

http://www.christianitytoday.com/gleanings/2013/august/nm-supreme-court-photographers-cant-refuse-gay-weddings.html?paging=off

To give just an overview, the photographer was sued for refusing to shoot a same sex wedding. I am fully aware of God's view on same sex couples so my question is; does that view extend to business transactions? Troy, I know you are in sales, would you refuse to sell to someone that is married to someone of the same sex? And, if all sin is equal in the eyes of our Lord, and Jesus said “let he who is without sin cast the first stone” are we to condemn and alienate homosexuals for that?

I guess I should have prefaced this email with letting you know that my questions are not directed to create a debate on the matter. I bring it to you guys in hopes of finding the middle ground between the rights of the photographer and the rights of the couple. I reckon that this is the cross roads that every country with freedoms have to face, the separation of church and state. I also am aware of what I would have done if I were the photographer. I guess to sum up my question, what is the biblical stance of being in that situation? Would it have been wrong in God's eyes if she had shot the wedding?

Thanks for the awesome podcast and everything you do. It is truly and inspiration.

Sincerely,

Steven A. Campbell

Subject: IL CCW laws & church carry

Message Body:

Troy and Doug,

I couldn't wait for the Pistol Packing Preachers episode and thoroughly enjoyed listening to it.

One thing I wanted to mention about IL CCW laws is that places of worship are only considered private property, and as such, unless they post the official signage at the entrance (which looks like this https://ccl4illinois.com/ccw/Public/Signage.aspx, you are legally allowed to carry.

My church does not have a sign posted, but I am pretty sure that this is due to ignorance. That being said, I'm a bit torn on whether to talk to my pastor about CCW or not. If I proactively ask the pastor about the subject, it will most likely open up a can of worms. Maybe that is a discussion that has to happen in the future, but right now, ignorance is bliss. Do you guys think that people should notify their pastors that they are carrying in church?

If a pastor asked either of you to disarm yourself before coming to church, would you respect the pastor's wishes, move churches, or do 'concealed is concealed'? I guess this would also depend on how long you've been attending that particular church.

Thanks again for your show; I look forward to it every week.

--Tim

Subject: God & Guns Activity Report

Hi Troy & Hi Doug,

Wanted to give a report on my latest God & Guns activity. My wife and I invited several young families with kids to join us for a weekend at a friend's deer camp. (Deer camp? Jeez this place is nicer than my house) My youngest daughter helped the kids learn & archery and to use the BB gun. I helped the adults learn to shoot using our faithful lever action .22 Henry. WE had some nice hikes and talks around the campfire. On Sunday morning My lovely bride & I lead a devotional/sharing time.

After we got back a girl in one family joined the National Archery in Schools Program Team at their school and another family went out and bought a Daisy for their their son & daughter.

We had a fine time together enjoying the outdoors & shooting sports but most importantly we were able to show God's love to some good folks.

Take care guys. Dwayne

Hey Troy and Doug,

Really enjoyed your last episode with Rev. Kenn Blanchard. I have listened to The Unnamed Church podcast of his for a little while now, it has been very helpful for me to learn more about the scriptures. Maybe some of the listeners of this show might want to check it out? Keep up the great work, shows like yours and the Unnamed church have been a true blessing to me and I thank God for that.

Weekly Bible Verse

Romans 6:1-23 (ESV)

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?  By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?  Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.    For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.  We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.  For one who has died has been set free from sin.  Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.  We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him.  For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God.  So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus.    Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions.  Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness.  For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.    What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!  Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?  But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed,  and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.  I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.     For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.  But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Comedy Corner: A Movie Bet

Two fellas were watching an old cowboy movie and it came to the part when the cowboy, on his horse, at full gallop, was headed right towards a cliff. One of the guys said to the other, "Hey, I’ll bet you 10 bucks that he rides over the cliff." The other said, "Your on!"

Well the cowboy and the horse went right over the cliff. The fella that lost the bet paid up. A while later, the guy who won said, "Hey, I’m feeling a little guilty about our bet and need to make a confession ... I already have seen the movie." The other fella replied, "Well, I have also seen the movie before ... but I didn’t think he’d do it again!"

Chuck Norris has a grizzly bear rug on his floor. Its not dead its just afraid to move.

Romans 13Weekly Bible Verses

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.  Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.  For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Would you have no fear of the one who is in authority? Then do what is good, and you will receive his approval,  for he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God’s wrath on the wrongdoer.  Therefore one must be in subjection, not only to avoid God’s wrath but also for the sake of conscience.  For because of this you also pay taxes, for the authorities are ministers of God, attending to this very thing.  Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Weekly Bible Verse Jesus left the temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out to him the buildings of the temple.  But he answered them,  “You see all these, do you not? Truly, I say to you,  there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.” As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this  must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are but the beginning of the birth pains. “Then they will deliver you up     to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name’s sake. And then many will fall away and betray one another and hate one another. And many  false prophets will arise  and lead many astray. And because lawlessness will be increased,  the love of many will grow cold. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom  will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:1-14 (ESV)

NRA Armed Citizen Chicago homeowner fends off thieves, faces charges for expired FOID, The Chicago Tribune, Chicago, Ill. February 1, 2014 Posted on February 5, 2014

A homeowner was in bed in Chicago, Ill. when he was awakened by his daughter, who alerted him to a suspicious disturbance in a nearby apartment. The homeowner, who relies on crutches, went to investigate, unlocking a door between his home and the apartment which his daughter suspected had been broken into. He then returned to his bedroom to retrieve a firearm. When the homeowner returned to the unlocked door, he encountered two intruders who charged at him. The homeowner responded by firing at the criminals, striking and killing one, and causing the other and a third accomplice to flee the scene. Unfortunately, following the shooting, police discovered that the homeowner failed to fully comply with Illinois’ onerous firearms laws, having let his Firearm Owners Identification card expire. Police charged the homeowner with a misdemeanor.

NRA Armed Citizen Restaurant employee shoots armed would-be robbers By Allison Sampite-Montecalvo and Susan Shroder 11:53 p.m.Jan. 3, 2014 Updated 4:01 p.m. Jan. 4, 2014 VISTA — An employee at a Vista restaurant fired shots at two men who tried to rob the business at gunpoint Friday night, a sheriff’s official said. The attempted robbery was reported about 9:40 p.m. at Uncle Tony’s Italian Cuisine on Sycamore Avenue, near Shadowridge Drive. The employee said he fired eight shots at the attempted robbers while inside the business, but they fled without taking anything, sheriff’s deputies said. He told deputies he thought he hit both of them in the upper body. One was described as Latino, about 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a medium build. He wore a black hoodie, a blue bandanna over his face and khaki pants. The other man was described only as about 6 feet 2 inches tall, with his face covered. Both carried handguns. Deputies said the men fled in a white two-door vehicle, possibly a Honda. Local hospitals were notified. About midnight, two men with gunshot wounds showed up in the Tri-City Medical Center emergency room, deputies said. Vista detectives arrived to interview the men, who said they were shot while walking near John Landis Park in Oceanside, but neither man could provide a suspect description or location of the shooting. Deputies said both men were treated for their injuries, which were consistent with the descriptions given by the restaurant employee, then released. Detectives arrested and booked both men into the Vista jail on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, assault with a deadly weapon, and other weapons and probation violation charges. Because the investigation is ongoing, their names were not released at this time. http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/jan/03/uncle-tonys-vista-gunshots/

Comedy Corner: In light of the rising frequency of human/grizzly bear conflicts, the Montana Department of Fish and Game is advising hikers, hunters, and fishermen to take precautions and keep alert for bears while in the field.

"We advise that outdoorsmen wear noisy little bells on their clothing so as not to startle bears that aren't expecting them. We also advise outdoorsmen to carry pepper spray with them in case of an encounter with a bear. It is also a good idea to watch out for fresh signs of bear activity. Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear poop. Black bear poop is smaller and contains lots of berries and squirrel fur. Grizzly bear poop has little bells in it and smells like pepper. "

Listener Email: Troy, Thanks for clearing up my email from last week and giving some feedback. Its good to hear other Christian's thoughts on topics we don't always agree on. I just came from church and started listening to your last show talking about Simon Peter. That is the same person our preacher talked about here in Belgium. He talked about Peter as an example of a real person we can all relate too. Simon displayed signs of faith and faltered at the same time. He was the only disciple to try and walk on water, he told Jesus he would never leave him at the last supper (he would), never deny him (he did X3), after Jesus's death he jumped out of the boat and swam to shore when he saw Jesus and talked with him while the other disciples rowed, and he was even told to basically shut up and listen to Jesus by God on the mountain with the 2 other disciples. Simon Peter's life showed great faith and how human every man is when we do not have faith, listen, or follow God's plan for us. Warner Paredes

To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, 19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak. “G’day Troy, Listening all the way over here in Australia and just wanted to thank you for the great job you are doing with the podcast. I think Doug is a great addition to the podcast as a co-host and I am looking forward to any future podcasts you do together. As a relatively new Christian I have found this podcast especially helpful, it is great to gain a Christian perspective on firearms ownership among other important aspects of life. Unfortunately due to financial constraints I will not be able to gain a hold of any firearms here soon, however one day I hope to enjoy the freedoms that you have in America by becoming an American citizen. Thanks again for the great work you are doing and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.”

Shawn Merrill says

Enjoy The Weekly Podcasts. I've truly enjoyed listening to the podcasts recently with Troy and my good buddy Doug. The stories and experiences you both share are interesting and the passages from the Bible you share each week are uplifting as well as a blessing! Keep up the great job and God bless!

Shawn (Warner Robins, GA)

Weekly Bible Verse:

Hebrews 12: 11-17 (ESV)

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed. Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no “root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled; that no one is sexually immoral or unholy like Esau, who sold his birthright for a single meal. For you know that afterward, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no chance to repent, though he sought it with tears.

Weekly Bible Verse: Act 5:25-32 (ESV) 25 And someone came and told them, “Look! The men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.” 26 Then the captain with the officers went and brought them, but not by force, for they were afraid of being stoned by the people. 27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest questioned them, 28 saying, “We strictly charged you not to teach in this name, yet here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching, and you intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.” 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. 30The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by hanging him on a tree. 31 God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are witnesses to these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Comedy Corner:

Somebody once shot a .44 magnum towards Chuck Norris' head. The bullet stopped and went back into the gun out of sheer terror. Last year, Chuck Norris got shot in the back 75 times with a .44 Magnum......It was the best massage he ever had. Chuck Norris once shot a flea through the heart with a .44 Magnum.

Listener Email:

Dwayne says: “I appreciate the show and enjoy listening. Thanks for the time & effort that goes into it.”

Dan Asked: To share that Camp Barakel (Bear-a-kell,http://www.campbarakel.org/camp.asp ), is located in Fairview, MI. The camp is having trouble finding ammo for next year. The camp has put out the call on their website,http://www.campbarakel.org/ne/ne.asp, along with on their Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/WhereGodHasBlessed) page for ammo. The only thing they are asking is that if someone wants to donate ammo, to give them a call first at (989) 848-2279 and ask for Lee.

Weekly Bible Verse:

Matthew 25: 34-46 (KJV)

34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Dirty Harry Smith & Wesson Model 29 *Info below provided by Wikipedia

The Smith & Wesson Model 29 is a six-shot, double-action revolver chambered for the .44 Magnum cartridge and manufactured by the U.S. company Smith & Wesson. It was made famous by — and is still most often associated with — the fictional character "Dirty Harry" Callahan from the Dirty Harry series of films starring Clint Eastwood.

The Model 29 was offered with 3", 4", 5", 6", 6½", 8⅜" and, later, 10⅝" barrel lengths as standard models. Other barrel lengths were available either by special order from Smith & Wesson's Custom Shop or custom built by gunsmiths. The 5" barreled variant had a full length under-lug. Finish options available included a highly polished blued or nickel-plated surface.

Harry Callahan: I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking "did he fire six shots or only five?" Now to tell you the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow your head clean off, you've gotta ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Keep the faith Troy....you have God in ming and on your heart and doing that will allow you to do just fine with the podcast. I'd love to help in some way....feel free to reach out and ask...me and your audience. (After all, you yourself answered the call and I am sure others will too!)

Finally caught up with all your shows. Great job, I will listen to you as long as you are on. Don't have a wish list other than to get out of California, hard to do on S.S.D.I.. I am an honorably discharged veteran (U.S.A.F.) a Christian, a beginning prepper and my children tell me a through and through Redneck, really proud of that part. I am a fundamentalist when it comes to the Bible and the Constitution. Most people know what I mean by the first but not the second. If the Constitutions is not crystal clear on a subject; then any ruling/judgement should be made in favor of maintaining the highest level of individual freedom possible. I am what my kids call old school when it comes to many things, don't know if that is an insult or not. My children say they think I a tough too but I just don't see that, if something needs to be done then do it. I will post something again about hunting if you are interested and yes we "baited" if it was needed, but the garden was usually good for 2 3 deer a season.

Weekly Bible Verse: 1 Peter 4: 12-19 ESV Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. 16 Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And“If the righteous is scarcely saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust their souls to a faithful Creator while doing good.
