Comedy Corner:

Overcrowded church The two thousand member Baptist church was filled to overflowing capacity one Sunday morning. The preacher was ready to start the sermon when two men, dressed in long black coats and black hats entered thru the rear of the church. One of the two men walked to the middle of the church while the other stayed at the back of the church. They both then reached under their coats and withdrew automatic weapons. The one in the middle announced, "Everyone willing to take a bullet for Jesus stay in your seats!" Naturally, the pews emptied, followed by the choir. The deacons ran out the door, followed by the choir director and the assistant pastor. After a few moments, there were about twenty people left sitting in the church. The preacher was holding steady in the pulpit. The men put their weapons away and said, gently, to the preacher, "All right, pastor, the hypocrites are gone now. You may begin the service."

Do you go to church? A friend was in front of me coming out of church one day, and the preacher was standing at the door as he always is to shake hands. He grabbed my friend by the hand and pulled him aside. The Pastor said to him, "You need to join the Army of the Lord!" My friend replied, "I'm already in the Army of the Lord, Pastor." Pastor questioned, "How come I don't see you except at Christmas and Easter?" He whispered back, "I'm in the secret service.

Weekly Bible Verses Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,  “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and call out against it, for their evil has come up before me.”  But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa and found a ship going to Tarshish. So he paid the fare and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish, away from the presence of the Lord. But the  Lord  hurled a great wind upon the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship threatened to break up. Then the mariners were afraid, and each cried out to his god. And they hurled the cargo that was in the ship into the sea to lighten it for them. But Jonah had gone down into the inner part of the ship and had lain down and was fast asleep.  So the captain came and said to him, “What do you mean, you sleeper? Arise, call out to your god! Perhaps the god will give a thought to us, that we may not perish.” Jonah 1: 1-6 (ESV)

The Constitutional recognized right to Life Liberty & Pursuit of Happiness

Rep. Louie Gohmert sent out first a quote and then a quip to rally-goers in Iowa that if John Adams thought the Constitution was for moral, righteous people, then that meant the legal document was primarily for modern-day Americans who revere both God and guns. First the quote, from Mr. Adams from 1798: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other,” the Texas Republican said.

Mr. Gohmert then quipped, Raw Story reported: “It only is fit for people who cling to their God and their guns, you know?”

The crowd, gathered at a rally for Republican Senate candidate Sam Clovis, reportedly cheered. Mr. Gohmert also spoke of how he was initially blamed for the antics of Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina, who shouted out “You lie!” during President Obama’s 2009 State of the Union Address. “Somebody yells ‘You lie!’ and the camera goes on me,” Mr. Gohmert said, Raw Story reported. He also added that while he would never defiantly violate the rules of etiquette that run the House, he didn’t mind ratcheting his criticism of Mr. Obama “right up to the line,” he said, Raw Story reported. The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

NRA Armed Citizen Passerby halts purse-snatching, KHOU, Houston, Texas 04/28/14

A mother was in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store in Houston, Texas when a pair of purse snatchers grabbed her bag and dragged the woman, who was still holding the purse, into the middle of the parking lot. A man in the parking lot witnessed the attack, retrieved a handgun, and confronted the criminals, forcing them out of the car and onto the ground. The armed passerby then held the pair at gunpoint until police arrived.

Following the incident, a local media outlet interviewed the manager of the Family Dollar store, who said of the armed citizen, “The guy is something else… He’s a hero.” (KHOU, Houston, Texas 04/28/14),-khou,-houston,-texas-042814.aspx?s=&st=&ps=
