Episode 016 - Prepping and the END!
Welcome back to the God and Guns Podcast. My name’s Mike, your host, (Zack) And I’m Zack, your other host.
Zack and I use this podcast to talk about God, guns, and the responsible Christian gun owners interests.
Today we’ll be discussing how the prepping scene fits into the Christian life and even talking about an actual event that will happen and how we can prep for it.
And the bandwidth for this episode is brought to you by the Firearms Radio Network.

-Christina says: “I listened to the church carry episode a few days ago and wanted to share my experience. I live in Texas, and while I do not have my CHL at this time, I have taken the course requirements and just have to file with the state. My pastor, as well as my father, a board member, and several women all carry their guns to church. My husband and I will soon become a part of this group once our licenses get in. I don't see anything wrong with it. As one of you mentioned, gun free zones are the best places for criminals to go to do the most harm. Or as my pastor says, it makes us sitting ducks. Our church has had an instance or two where thankfully someone had a gun, although it did not have to be used. My pastor is now a CHL instructor as a side job, and several church members have taken his class. I think it's safe to say that our church does not oppose gun carry at all and I see more of our church members and members of other churches in our area carrying in the future.
By the way, from my understanding, Texas law allows church carry unless it is posted otherwise. Thanks for the great topics and I look forward to the next episode.
-Wes says: “Hey guys blessed by your show. Response to your question about military chaplain, they are classified as noncombatants under the geneva Convention so they cannot touch a firearm. However I and many others are given the job as chaplain assistants. We are to help the chaplain stay alive in the war zones. I did these job for 4.5 years and got burned out. Hope these helps and if you guys have more question please email me.
Be prepare for war, but pray for peace.
-Nathan says: “I love what you guys are doing I listen to your podcast everyday. I am a good ol' country boy from Colorado and have always praised God and loved guns. Your podcast really reaches out to me. I wrote down one of the last weekly bible verses (Colossians 3:23-24)and put it in my wallet to remind me of how I should live my life. You guys are doing a great thing and are very inspiring and I have referred you to all my friends. Keep doing what your doing and loving God.
2 Samuel 22:31 says; "This God-his way is perfect; the word of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all those who take refuge in him."
Who wouldn't want to praise a God like that?”
-Jeff says: ”I just wanted to contact you and let you know that I am a new listener, and I appreciate your podcast and what it stands for. I've been a Christian all my life, but a new gun and Second Amendment, supporter. being a Christian and carry a gun as a long drawn out discussion that I've had with myself. your wisdom inside and support is exactly what I've needed. Weekly Bible Verse: 2 Timothy 3:1-5
“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” (NIV)
Main Topic: Prepping
- Prepping for a physical disaster:
-Why the prepping craze recently?
-Increase in disasters? Mayans? Increase in terrorist activity? Threat of government?
-Possible disasters are: (According to an article I found online)
~ Terrorists and their use of Bio or Nuclear Weapons
~ Solar Flare
~ Super Quake
~ Nuclear Holocaust
~ Social Unrest - Civil War
~ Economic Collapse
~ Global Pandemic
~ Polar Shift
~ Peak Oil Crisis
-Trust God for every single provision? Or take some sort of responsible action to prepare?
-Just like anything, don’t let prepping become an idol in your life.
-With that in mind, what are the essentials?
- Knowledge and a plan (Where to meet loved ones and what to bring)
- Food (Where do you get it? How do I kill it?)
- Shelter (Home most likely)
- Water (Water might be too contaminated)
- Medical Supplies
- A Bug Out Bag can be easily put together and kept in a safe place.
- Can opener
- Peanut Butter
- Water filter
- First Aid Kit
- Note: Keep a bin or bag of extra winter clothes in your car during winter.
- These lists are never complete. Look up survival and prepping online and take the advice of others too. (Some people have playing cards in their bug out bag.)
- Prepping for eternity: I have mentioned there’s a zombie in the bible. I’ll get to that later....
- There is an event that will happen which will end this world...for good. There won’t be any Book of Eli - Post apocalyptic survivors.
- No bug out bag, medical kit, or bunker can prepare anyone for what happens when God declares it over. Your heart has to be prepared for a relationship with Jesus if you want to continue to live on...without an end, in eternity with Him.
- Let’s look at some bible verses! (The full text of the verses is at the end of the show notes)
- Matthew 24:4-34
- 2 Peter 3:1-18
- Mark 13:5-23
- Matthew 24:36,37
- 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
- 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9
- What about the Zombie? Revelation 13:1-8
- We prepare ourselves for that day by living a holy life in submission to Christ.
- You can accept Christ as your Savior today if you choose to. Be ready for that day. Prep for that day.
- Romans 10:9 “9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” (NIV)
- John 14:6 - “6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (NIV)
- John 3:16 - “16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)

2 Peter 3:1-18
3 Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. 2 I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.
3 Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]
11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.[b] That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.
17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.
26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.
29 “Immediately after the distress of those days
“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[b]
30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[d] 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
9 “You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them. 10 And the gospel must first be preached to all nations. 11 Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
12 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 13 Everyone will hate you because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
14 “When you see ‘the abomination that causes desolation’[a] standing where it[b] does not belong—let the reader understand—then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 15 Let no one on the housetop go down or enter the house to take anything out. 16 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 17 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 18 Pray that this will not take place in winter, 19 because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now—and never to be equaled again.
20 “If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them. 21 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe it. 22 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 23 So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-9
5 Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. 9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
13 The dragon[a] stood on the shore of the sea. And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on its horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. 2 The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. 3 One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?”
5 The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6 It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. 8 All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world.[b]
