God and Guns Podcast
Episode 009 - Gun bans: How do we respond?
Welcome back to the God and Guns Podcast. My name’s Mike, your host, (Zack) And I’m Zack, your other host.
Zack and I use this podcast to talk about God, guns, and the responsible Christian gun owners interests.
Today we’ll be talking about how we, as Christians, should respond to the unlikely event of a gun ban.
-There is no theory of evolution, just animals Chuck Norris allows to live.
-Chuck Norris made a happy meal cry.
-Underneath Chuck Norris’ beard is another fist. - NOT TRUE!
*At some point during the show we will announce the winner of this weeks Midsouth Shooters giveaway. You have to listen to win. After your name is chosen you must contact us with the same email you submitted your entry with.
Brice says: I just wanted to say thank you for doing this podcast. As a Christian gun owner, it is nice to be able to hear the opinions of other Christians who enjoy their guns as much as I do. I have recently begun looking for ways to use my guns as a way to reach out to people, and have been trying to take new people shooting as a way to build a relationship with them that can hopefully act as a witness for God. Thanks for all the work you guys do on this podcast.
Matt says: I am so thankful to have found you guys on itunes, i have been longing for a show and view on guns and Christianity. You guys are a joy to listen to. It feels like I am sitting chatting with close friends, nothing fancy just talking about things that are important.
Hooper says: First off I love the podcast thank you for the hard work. I thought I might share a story with you guys. I had a soccer coach when I was younger that came up in the news here lately. My coach was in the news for coming to the aid of his daughter. She was home with her boyfriend when someone started banging the door and trying to get in the house. He got a call and got his gun and came to help. When he got there he saw the teenager outside the house. My coach tried to tell him to leave but the kid turned and rushed him. Well my coach pulled out his gun and shot the ground in front of him. He didn't stop. He shot in the dirt again this time he stopped. My coach then pinned the kid down till the cops got there. I thought this was amazing to show this kind of restraint because if it was my son I may of not of been able to do the same. He later said he didn't want to shoot the kid. I learned a lot from that, like pulling your gun may not be enough. I have asked a lot of other fathers and they all say they wouldn't have put the round in the dirt. As a Christian taking a life is not something I ever want to do. But I have to ask myself would I do what my coach did?

Weekly Bible Verse:
Judges 16:17 - 17 So he told her everything. “No razor has ever been used on my head,” he said, “because I have been a Nazirite dedicated to God from my mother’s womb. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as any other man.”
Romans 13: 1-7
Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. 4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience.
6 This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. 7 Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.
Main Topic: How to respond to a gun ban.
-Can a Christian righteously rebel?...No
-Rebellion is the disobedience of a lawful order and a lawful authority. That is what rebellion is.
-However, we are not subject to any governmental law that contradicts scripture.
- Our founders bestowed inalienable rights “natural laws or God given rights”
-Because of this, man has a certain dignity and was given dominion over the rest of creation (Genesis 1:26)
-As a Christian I will not be subject to government laws that are unlawful or ungodly orders. in US unconstitutional laws.
-Hmmm... Is a government passing unconstitutional laws, also passing ungodly laws?
Peter and Apostles:
Acts 5: 27-29
27 And when they had brought them, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them, 28 saying, "Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man's blood on us!" 29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men.
