Move Over JT! Fat2Fit HQ inspired another Gun Guy to transform himself into a healthier, happier Gun Guy!  Tim Grabow has been a listener of the Firearms Radio Network for a long while and finally gave our show a try. It’s Mike from God and Guns. :) I just wanted to say I have been loving it!  To be completely honest I have to say that a few weeks ago when you encouraged us to listen to everyone else’s shows, I listened and took your advice.  I listened to the very first couple of shows but then never got into it.  So because of your persistence, and encouragement, I am now hooked.  I picked up in the middle of Jake and Zack's contest and have since listen to every episode after that. I especially liked the most recent with Jonathan Bailor. Thank you for all you're doing! It\'s very encouraging and tonight whilst devouring 2 apple dumplings I kept thinking, "This isn't from nature..This isn't from nature."  So I have a ways to go! Haha! But honestly, when I give up sugar, I feel so much better. I just need to keep listening to your episodes for the encouragement.  Keep it up Carol and Zack! I'm loving this!

Good morning y'all.  In the last year, I've lost 30 pounds and gotten in the best shape of my life.

I'm 43, father of two (6 & 10), and a former fat, asthmatic, allergic, lazy kid. My wonderful wife of almost 24 years started exercising about a year and a half ago and she really inspired me. She was not fat by any stretch of the imagination, but she started toning up and got my attention. Her encouragement was huge. So, here's what I did:

  1. started eating better quality food and smaller portions, and avoiding processed foods.
  2. I started Invisalign and CrossFit on the same day. Invisalign was a big help for me because I would nibble, snack and graze all day. Invisalign showed me that snacking was not worth the extra time of flossing and brushing after each and every snack.
  3.  CrossFit was a perfect fit for my life because it is a fast, time-efficient workout. The smaller classes/groups are a plus also. There is always a coach there encouraging, correcting and even pushing me to do more and not hurt myself.
  4. I went more Paleo style nutrition and have eliminated most of the grains from my diet
  5.  I started using FitBit and tracking all of my intake and activity. Wow, that helped keep me honest and relearn what a serving size really is.
  6.  I didn't really use the scale at first. I saw my progress in my pants getting loser
  7.  I practice moderation in all things, including moderation.

Some things I've noticed since I started eating better and avoiding the processed garbage foods: I have more energy! I don't have to use my allergy medicine every day, and now, I rarely need it.

On FitBit, if y'all set up a group, I'll play.

Zack, you seem to be looking at your weight loss through a scope on 9x, try and dial it back to 3x and get back on target! Set small, achievable goals on the way to larger ones. Track your progress and don't just look at the short term, look at the long term.

Carol:  From the book I'm only implementing the cheat day!!!! (my diet is pretty clean with mostly real food, lower carb already)   On the cheat day I had lots of sugary and bready carbs as recommended... Does it work for me?.. more data needed.  Still doing my fairly clean eating on other 6 days.

Zack: Common responses to questions is a smart chapter to include. 30g in 30 min is tough w/o dairy and eggs.

So I was listening to episode 41 in the middle of my 7 mile walk today when you started talking about salad dressings and what you use. I so wanted to call on the spot and let you know what I do. Had to get back and post this right away. I use salsa! If I'm at my favorite Mexican restaurant I get salsa and guacamole! Sorry, I just love it!
