Stacy Knickerbocker Then & Now!

Listener Stacy Knickerboker joins us to share her story.  She is a wonderful example of persistence.  I say this because it took Stacy SIX years... six years to get to goal.  Now she has kept it off for an incredible 3 years!   She is a 43 year old super young fabulous lady!  Stacy has lots of insight for us.

Facebook Friend Dion Denton:

I dropped about 70 pounds about and year ago and now just work hard to maintain the same weight. I did it by counting calories and exercise. I used the myfitnesspal app and a Fitbit to keep me honest about how much I moved throughout the day. I was just wondering if any of you guys or the listeners were Fitbit users and were interested in starting a Fitbit group? It's a great way to keep strangers motivated and help them get those extra daily steps. You guys do a great job on the podcast, keep it up!

I wrote Dion for more information about how long it took him and he wrote back with even more inspiration and great ideas!  More from Dion:

I went from 245 to 174 in 6 months. In that time, I only went over my daily calorie goal 3 times. The myfitnesspal taught me the calories on everything I ate. I learned what i should and should not be eating, so i don't log anything anymore. The only time I use it now is to look up something I'm not sure of. I think both groups would be great. It's always nice to get a little bit of encouragement, even if its a complete stranger. Every little bit helps.   $100 is a lot for the fitbit, but they make one called a zip that about $60. I tried a cheap pedometer before, but it doesn't have the social aspect to it. Everybody on your friends list can see how many steps you take, so it makes you want to hit your daily goal. I try to get at least 10,000 steps a day which is around 5 miles. I've had nights when I've been short a few hundred steps and end up walking around my house until I hit my goal. It's become a little addiction, but at least it's a healthy one. Tell zack to stick it in his pocket and get moving!

Thank you Dion!  I’m a big fan of being aware of what we are eating.  Myfitnesspal is a great way to realize what you are putting into your body.  Many of our guests will tell you not to focus so much on calories.  But if it is working for you, and you are eating primarily clean, real foods, then I think it is fantastic.  Your success is amazing and you have obviously found something that has gotten to a healthier place.  I hope more listeners will want to hook up with us.  We know Zack has a fitbit that used to load up to our Facebook page.  hmmmmmm.  Will nag him about that on the next show for sure.  :)  Thank you again so much for sharing your story and this great idea of one more way to make fitness fun! - Carol
