The Old Preacher

An old preacher was dying. He sent a message for his banker and his lawyer, both church members, to come to his home.

When they arrived, they were ushered up to his bedroom. As they entered the room, the preacher held out his hands and motioned for them to sit on each side of the bed. The preacher grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled, and stared at the ceiling. For a time, no one said anything.

Both the banker and lawyer were touched and flattered that the preacher would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled; the preacher had never given them any indication that he particularly liked either of them. They both remembered his many long, uncomfortable sermons about greed, covetousness, and avaricious behaviour that made them squirm in their seats.

Finally, the banker said, "Preacher, why did you ask us to come?"

The old preacher mustered up his strength and then said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves, and that's how I want to go."

Listener Feedback:

Chuck Chettle

Hey guys after listening to you guys talk about the biggest loser idea I thought I would share something funny.

I've been dealing with health issues most of my life and in the past few years have been in and out of doctor’s offices on nearly a weekly basis. Normally I remove my EDC firearms before going in to avoid any awkward moments with doctors or nurses, however when going in for chemo followups I chose to leave them knowing there would be no touching or undressing involved. They checked my weight every visit and it became normal for me to carry when going to those appointments.

Then I went to another doctor who had my reports and since I knew they would be poking my abdomen I went without the hardware. The nurse asked me if I knew I had lost weight recently and I said no, not really thinking about it at first. The moral of the story is, eleven pounds was the weight of my EDC firearm and extra mags.

EDC Check: Springfield XDS 3.3 9MM, 8 round mag, 2 spare 9 round mags, IWB Kydex holster and OWB double mag carrier, Kershaw Emerson CQC-3K Tanto blade, Olight S10R Baton.

The moral of the story is if you want your doctor to think you are doing good on weight loss, reduce EDC. I guess it was funnier in my head as most things are.

Love the show and continue to be encouraged by your committment to Christian values. I pray that your blessings continue and look forward to the next podcast. God Bless you both.

“May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

Ephesians 3:19 NLT

Weekly Bible Verses:

What does the bible say about belivers and Foul Language

Ephesians 4:29 ESV

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 15:11 ESV

It is not what goes into the mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the mouth; this defiles a person.”

Colossians 4:6 ESV

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Proverbs 15:1-2 ESV

A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools pour out folly.

Ephesians 5:4 ESV

Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

NRA Armed Citizen
79-year-old man kills home invasion suspect, deputies looking for 2 other suspects
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -- A suspect is dead after Jefferson County authorities say a homeowner shot him during an overnight burglary.
Responding sheriff's deputies found a 79-year-old homeowner sitting on his front porch at a home in the 2400 block of Ormand Drive around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the homeowner woke up when he heard a noise coming from his basement after two suspects entered his home through a window, according to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's office. The suspects went upstairs where one of them told the man, who was still in bed, not to move.
The homeowner then grabbed a gun that he kept by his bed and shot at the suspects. One suspect fled the house as the homeowner chased him. The fleeing suspect shot the homeowner in the leg as he was running across the yard.
He left the scene in a waiting car.
Deputies found the second suspect dead at the scene.
The home
owner was transported to the hospital but suffered non-life threatening injuries.
