I'M SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW and can't believe what just happened!!!

I had to leave the house to run to the store to pick up a few things. When I got back to the house there were three Sheriff's vehicles and four deputies in our home. The front door had been knocked off the hinges, stuff was thrown everywhere, and apparently they were looking for something. Then they wouldn't let me inside, (My family was sitting on the front porch bench in the heat), and the deputies are searching through everything, even going through my refrigerator. They checked inside the closets, under our mattress and just generally tore everything apart.

As you can imagine, I'm a bit upset and trying to figure out what's going on. I asked if they had a search warrant. The deputy in our bedroom shouted, "Where did you hide it at? We know it's here! We are searching." I yelled back, "If I had an idea of what you're looking for sir, maybe I could help!" He shoots me the "You wanna go to jail?" look, so I shut up and watch one of the other deputies look down at his phone. He calls out, "Guys! Stop! Hold on. We're in the wrong house! The Pokémon is next door!"

Listener Feedback
Hi, there

I've only found your website today but I had to contact you. I'm a born-again Christian from London (25 years old), my dad was in the Parachute Regiment and I've grown up learning about and loving firearms. However, as you may know, most firearms are illegal in the UK (with the exception of double barrel shotguns, some rifles, .22lr calibre weapons and some other shotgun variants, all with limitations). I grew up firing air rifles and air pistols, and was fascinated ever since. I've educated myself, to some degree, on firearms. My first passions were WW2 weapons, particular American and German (Mauser K98 is my favourite bolt action rifle). I wish the laws were different here. I completely disagree with the handgun ban, as I find it utterly ridiculous (we can own .50 BMG rifles, but not 9mm handguns ?????). The ban was a result of a school shooting in 1996. Since then, crime (including gun crime and murder) soared. It peaked in 2003, I believe, and gradually reduced. However, it's still bad. Only gangs and special police units have guns. Hardly any citizens.

I also agree with your stance on self-defence (a right I am not entitled to in my country). The Bible makes no indications that protecting ourselves, or more importantly the innocent is an act of evil or sin. I'm glad to have found some Christians such as yourselves and would like to keep in touch. I'd love to visit the States one day, my dream is to live there in a free state.

Please get back to me.

Regards

Joseph

Hey Troy,

I have been only listening for a few months now after being told about your podcast from a Lawyer doing concealed carry legal seminars. Love the show and that you guys have great passion for both guns and our Savior.

The name of the lawyer was Michael Giaramita, Jr. Author of "Pennsylvania Gun Law Arm and Educated" 2016 edition.

Thanks Chuck

Hey Troy,

First off, thank you to you and Doug both for the great podcast. I've listened regularly since I found it the end of March, shortly after I was saved on March 23rd this year. The positive inspiration and reflection you two offer is great and I appreciate the time you put in to the show.

I'd love to buy two of your new patches. If you'll let me know how you prefer payment and a total I'll send it right over.

Thanks again,
Alex

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knox County deputies are searching for a man who tried to rob an East Knox County store with a knife, only to be chased off by the store clerk who was carrying a handgun.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect entered Danny’s Market, 1203 Andrew Johnson Highway, around 10:39 p.m., walked up to a customer waiting to pay for her items, held a knife to her throat, and demanded money from the store clerk.

The clerk refused to hand over the cash, instead pulling out his handgun and forcing the suspect to leave. The suspect used the customer as a shield as he backed out of the store and ran off. A witness tried to follow him, but lost him at Clear Springs Road off Mascot Road.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 25 to 35 years old with a stocky build. He was wearing a gray, long sleeved T-shirt; light blue jeans; and kept his head covered the entire time. He was also wearing possibly camouflage face paint.

I love listening to Troy and Doug Both are Godly men speaking on topics that affect all Christian, gun owners. I love hearing them speak on their feelings on gun ownership, as well as the teachings they layout from the Bible. Although they aren't my neighbors, they feel like good friends that I've known for ages. I look forward to their podcast every week. They make me laugh and encourage me both in my beliefs involving God and my beliefs on guns. God Bless!

Afternoon gentlemen like all that you do for God and guns. I live in New York NOT THE CITY upstate and we would like to cut them from the rest of the state. Keep doing what you are I enjoy listening too the both of you.

Sincerely Harry

Troy, (From June 24th sorry I didn't find this one until this week.)
I am an avid listener of podcasts and love yours also.

For about the last 4 episodes I have been having an issue - when I listen to your podcast it causes my iPhone to "reboot"in the middle of the podcast - typically 3 or 4 times per podcast.  I have 5 or 6 other podcasts which I listen to consistently - and yours is the only one I am having this issue with.  For what it is worth, I am using Apple's built in Podcast app to download and listen to your podcast.

Do you have any input or advice? A no, outside my pay grade.Maybe Doug knows

Thanks - Tim

91-year-old Right-to-Carry permit holder defends himself against robber, WXYZ, Detroit, Mich.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2016

A 91-year-old man was in the parking lot of a Rite Aid pharmacy in Eastpointe, Mich. when he was approached by a man acting erratically. The stranger followed the elderly man and pointed an object at him. The 91-year-old, who is also a Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded to the threat by drawing a gun and shoot the assailant in the neck, prompting the man to flee. Police eventually caught up with the wounded man who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, Eastpointe Deputy Police Chief Eric Keiser told a local media outlet, “This was an attempted robbery of the shooter… The person who fired the shots had a CPL and was lawfully carrying a handgun and said that he defended himself when he was attacked.” (WXYZ, Detroit, Mich. 08/22/16)

Only three doors

An airline captain was breaking in a new blonde stewardess. The route they were flying had a layover in another city. Upon their arrival, the captain showed the stewardess the best place for airline personnel to eat, shop and stay overnight.

The next morning, as the pilot was preparing the crew for the day's route, he noticed the new stewardess was missing. He knew which room she was in at the hotel and called her up wondering what happened. She answered the phone, crying, and said she couldn't get out of her room. "You can't get out of your room?" the captain asked, "Why not?"

The stewardess replied: "There are only three doors in here," she sobbed, "one is the bathroom, one is the closet, and one has a sign on it that says 'Do Not Disturb'!"

Police officer's cousin uses officer's gun to fight off armed robbers in NYC,

New York Post, New York, N.Y. 08/16/16

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2016

A pair of thieves, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, approached an off-duty police officer who was with his girlfriend and cousin outside a bar in New York City. An altercation ensued, during which the officer’s cousin was able to retrieve the officer’s gun from his vehicle. Once armed, the cousin shot one of the robbers. The wounded thief fled the scene, but was found at a local hospital a short time later.

With the incident having occurred in one of the most anti-gun jurisdictions in the country, the New York Post noted that the officer “could face disciplinary charges for not securing his gun and allowing the weapon to fall into the hands of a civilian.” The wounded robber was determined to be a parolee. Todd

Hi Doug and Troy,

I’m a new listener to your show and I love it! To be honest I’m working hard to be a good Christian and a Godly man. It’s been a long hard road for me but I feel I’m making great headway and I believe that my family and I have found a great church to call home.

That’s actually the reason for my email. We live in upstate South Carolina and our church is very close to the interstate. As you might remember last year a young man shot up a church in Charleston SC. He was later caught in the Charlotte NC area. Also recently some of our church members and staff have had money and credit cards taken from their purses. These instances and the current social climates give me concern for my family’s safety and that of my church family.  I am a concealed carrier but I don’t carry in church as it’s not legal in SC without the church's permission. I would like to talk to the church about doing so and also about the general security of the church and its members. As I’ve only been going to this church for a little over a year and I’ve really only gotten more involved with church activities in the past couple of months I don’t know how I should broach the subject. Do you have any suggestions on how to do that tactfully?

As a secondary question, I also work in a large international company, with my wife, and our security practices are VERY loose to say the least. I’ve asked management if we have plans in place in case of emergencies such as civil emergencies such as, fire, chemical spills (our company is alongside of the same interstate as I mentioned before and is heavily traveled by trucks) riots and active shooters. I’m sad to say that my inquiry has fallen on deaf ears thus far. Aside from taking the needed training myself, how do I try to make my company aware of the need to educate our workers on what to do in case the need for action comes about? Side note, concealed carry is also NOT allowed on company property.

Thank you for your help and all of your hard work.

Todd

Doug,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for not thanking you sooner for the sample of FrogLube you sent me months ago.

It dawned on me the other night as it came time to clean all of our carry pistols that I'd never properly thanked you.

My wife was completely amazed at the minty fresh scent and the fact that  the lube was non-toxic.

You probably would have laughed pretty heavy if you were sitting next to us and saw me and my wife passing various disassembled gun parts back and forth smelling them while simultaneously keeping them Out Of Reach of our 7 month old daughter.

And just as a side note I assure you there was absolutely no ammunition anywhere near the area that we used to clean and lubricate the pistols.

It was just a good time had with the family in the living room exercising our 2nd Amendment right to clean guns whether we like it or not.

So from my family to yours thank you for creating another FrogLube family.

Sincerely,

George, Heather, & Brianna Suprenant.

Weekly Bible Verses:

9 Be not quick in your spirit to become angry, for anger lodges in the heart of fools. 10 Say not, "Why were the former days better than these?" For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. 11 Wisdom is good with an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun. 12 For the protection of wisdom is like the protection of money, and the advantage of knowledge is that wisdom preserves the life of him who has it. 13 Consider the work of God: who can make straight what he has made crooked? 14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him. 15 In my vain life I have seen everything. There is a righteous man who perishes in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man who prolongs his life in his evildoing.16 Be not overly righteous, and do not make yourself too wise. Why should you destroy yourself? 17 Be not overly wicked, neither be a fool. Why should you die before your time? 18 It is good that you should take hold of this, and from that withhold not your hand, for the one who fears God shall come out from both of them. Ecclesiastes 7:9-18 (ESV)

Right-to-Carry permit holder stops rifle-wielding robber, Dallas Morning News, Dallas, Texas July 13, 2016 A man armed with a rifle entered a Waffle House in DeSoto, Texas and robbed the business and the customers inside. As the robber went to the parking lot, an armed Right-to-Carry permit holder followed, concerned the criminal might harm his wife, who was set to arrive at the restaurant. The armed citizen confronted the robber, who then pointed the rifle at him. Presented with this threat, the Right-to-Carry permit holder shot the robber.

When the authorities arrived, the wounded robber was taken to a local hospital. (Dallas Morning News, Dallas, Texas July 13, 2016)

Comedy Corner:
Late one night a mugger wearing a mask stopped a well-dressed man and stuck a gun in his ribs. "Give me your money," he demanded. Scandalized, the man replied, "You can’t do this – I’m a US Congressman!" "Oh! In that case," smiled the robber, "Give me MY money!"

A guy was sitting in a bar one day and two really large women came in, talking in an interesting accent.
So he said, “Cool accent, are you two ladies from Ireland?”
One of them snarled at me, “It’s Wales, dumbo!”
So he corrected myself, “Oh, right, so are you two whales from Ireland?”
That’s about as far as he remember.

A mother and her two children returned to their Portland, Ore. home to find an intruder in one of the children’s bedrooms. The mother responded to the threat by retrieving a handgun and shooting the intruder, killing him.

Following the incident, neighbors appeared supportive of the mother, with one telling a local news outlet, “great for her for defending herself and her family.” Another area man said “She did the right thing, I think she did the right thing.” (KGW, Portland, Ore. 06/27/16)

Doug and Troy,

I just wanted to reach out to you guys and thank you for what you guys are doing. It really is a breath of fresh air in the society around us to hear you guys talking about the gospel and also about Christian gun ownership. I just stumbled onto this podcast recently, so I have been playing catch up on recent episodes.

I am sure you took care of this Troy (I think it was Troy), one of your listeners must have queued you in. You mentioned on your Gen4 Glock the back-strap not staying on. I think you’re not installing it right. In the back of the grip there is a small pin that you need to push out, and when you install the back-strap on, you then push in the larger pin in that was supplied with the pistol. Hope this helps. I really enjoy the Gen4 models due to the changeable backstrap. Once the larger pin is installed it shouldn't be an issue.

I wanted to help you guys out with a joke, like I said I am recent listener so you might have heard this one already.

A pastor decides to miss church on Sunday to go bear hunting with some friends one weekend. The guilt of missing service is really bothering him throughout the drive. While walking down a road on the side of a hill a huge bear jumps out. The pastor loses his balance and falls downhill. When he stops at the bottom of the hill his leg is badly damaged so he cannot get up and run. The bear is now running downhill full speed towards him. The pastor starts praying "Lord I know I shouldn't have missed service today, please forgive me. I will never miss another service to go hunting again, please put your hand on this bear and still his rage." The bear halts to a stop just before the pastor, kneels down and prays "Please Lord bless this food you have given me".

I look forward to more episodes. My local church is Midlothian Bible Church in Midlothian,TX an hour south of Dallas. If you guys are ever coming down this way, we have a great local range and tons of guns. Let me know. Keep spreading the word.

A friend of mine is a missionary in Africa. His little 4 year old daughter became worried that there wouldn't be anyone for her to marry when the time came. She worried about it all the time for a week. Finally she had an idea. She said, daddy, will you marry me? To make his little girl happy he said ok honey, daddy will marry you. Now happy at last she planned the big day as only a 4 year old can.

Everything was set, they all dressed up and daddy was going to perform the wedding as well as be in it. When the time came he looked at his daughter and said now it's time for the wedding vows. Without missing a beat she yelled out, A,E,I,O,U.

The wedding was over.

Thanks,

Hi Troy and Doug - I have been listening to the show for about six months now and wanted to drop you guys a line and say thank you for the work that you do each week in producing the podcast.

I also wanted to take the time to thank you for helping to encourage me to get back into shooting and gun ownership and share a bit of my story with you guys.

I got into duck hunting and trap shooting when I was in junior high years ago, but fell away from hunting and shooting when I went through some tough times during high school and my early twenties.

When I was thirty, I came to Christ. During the first few years of my walk, I simply enjoyed the newness of spiritual growth and tended to avoid processing the tougher issues of ethics and faith. Now that I’m more mature, I am revisiting my thoughts on many things.

I grew up always wanting to serve in the military, but had an injury and a medical condition that kept me out of the service. Not being able to serve was actually what caused me to turn away from God back in high school. I sometimes struggle with regret for not serving when so many of my generation served us with great honor in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The more and more I’ve struggled with this, I began to have some dark spots and doubts in my faith. Anyway, I heard about the book “A Time to Kill: The Myth of Christian Pacifism” by Greg Hopkins from you guys a while back. It has been very helpful in integrating my beliefs about military service, gun ownership, and self-defense ethics with my relationship with Jesus. Thank you for having Greg on the show!

After eighteen years of not shooting, I was re-introduced to guns last fall by my wife’s cousin who is a police officer. Now at the age of thirty six and having just received the precious gift our first daughter, I’ve begun to seriously consider my role as protector of my family.

A mentor from church and I recently completed our CCW class at Bill’s Gun Shop in Robbinsdale, MN. I rented a pistol from the range to complete the class, and am saving up money whenever I can towards the purchase of my first pistol and to pay for the CCW permit fees. (I’m leaning towards a G19; by the way - nice MOS build Troy!) With our new daughter and mine and my wife’s student loans, things are tight, so I’m also working on a side business to help pay for ammo, range time, and some training classes.

The business is called Cross & Dot Optics and will be an online retailer of Red Dots, Scopes, and shooting accessories. The name was inspired a bit by Crossbreed Holsters and a word I got years ago to start ‘Kingdom ventures’. I’m still looking for ideas to integrate the Kingdom connection for this business, but right now I’m leaning towards allocating a portion of the profits to veterans ministries.

In the beginning I just hope to serve the shooting community, police and military with excellent customer service and a great online user experience to make shopping for optics simple and easy. The site is under construction and will launch later this summer, but I’ve started the store’s Instagram account @crossndotoptics to keep folks up-to-date. For now I am curating a feed of the Internet’s best optics equipped pistols, rifles, carbines and shotgun images.

Again, I want to thank you guys for your work. Keep up the great podcast and I hope you guys are able to get your T-Shirt store up and running sometime soon.

Blessings,

13 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. 14 In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. 15 If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you. 16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of coals and produces a weapon for its purpose. I have also created the ravager to destroy; 17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. A Life of Violent Threats Paved Way for Orlando Attack

Again and again for much of his life, Omar Mateen let people know he was a violent, dangerous person capable of murder. Repeatedly, he wiggled out of trouble, distracting officials with a beguiling charm, a feigned stupidity or some other tactic.

A look at Mateen’s troubled life, based on interviews with officials and people who knew him, as well as documents, reveals that on at least a dozen occasions, beginning when he was in grade school, he gave clues in a public setting that he was capable of mayhem.

At age 14, he said he could shoot an AK-47 and mimicked an airplane flying into the World Trade Center. At 26, he bragged to courthouse co-workers of terrorist ties. Weeks ago, at 29, Mateen sought to buy heavy-duty body armor and bulk ammunition.

Many of his violent outbursts aped or celebrated Islamic terrorism and he repeatedly claimed connections to known terrorists, including the Boston Marathon bombers. He cheered the 9/11 attacks on the day they happened and once threatened to shoot partygoers at a barbecue when pork, which is forbidden to Muslims, touched his hamburger.

There doesn’t appear to be a moment when Mateen’s political extremism and religious zealotry kicked into high gear. Rather, this appears to be a case of slow, steady intensification.

Law-enforcement officials say he became radicalized online yet key facts remain unknown about what drove him to launch a terror attack. Officials are probing what his wife knew about his plans. Investigators are scrutinizing Mateen’s communications and travel history to detail any direct or indirect influence he might have had with terror networks.

Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan on Thursday called the Orlando massacre part of a pattern of attacks Islamic State is trying to encourage by “sympathizers who have no direct links to the group.”

Twice during his adult life, Mateen’s actions prompted probes by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Agents concluded he didn’t pose an immediate threat.

Robert Zirkle, who knew him through school in 2001, said: “We joked that he’d become a terrorist. And then he did.”

On Sunday, he went into an Orlando nightclub, murdered 49 people and injured 53, and claimed the moment for Islamic State.

Mateen’s story cuts to the heart of the worst scenario for domestic law enforcement and policy makers. While he hadn’t committed a crime as an adult, his record was replete with incidents that troubled those around him.

Early Sunday, the trail of threats culminated with the massacre Mateen had in a sense been foretelling for almost two decades, raising troubling questions in particular for the FBI and his most recent employer, G4S Secure Solutions.

FBI director James Comey said this week he doesn’t think the FBI should have done anything differently in its earlier probes, though it is conducting a far-reaching review to see what the FBI may have misjudged. G4S, a British security firm, said in a statement two screenings it conducted of Mateen found nothing disqualifying.

After each disturbing eruption of anger, Mateen always danced just out of reach of those who could have stopped him. He hopped from school to school, job to job. Paper records were drawn up, notice was taken but little seemed to follow him.

Omar Mateen’s trouble began early. He was disciplined at school 31 times between 1992 and 1999, for reasons including hitting another student, school records show. He was constantly demanding attention, either as a goofball or a bully, regularly wearing a gym shirt in high school emblazoned with his name, “O. Mateen,” classmates said.

Kathleen Zurich, who said she taught Mateen in fourth and fifth grade, characterized him as a bully who called classmates “ugly” or “gay” and painted himself as a victim—but had a softer side. “That’s the scary part,” she said. “There was a nice side of him that you can see, and yet he can be so nasty. Almost like a Dr. Jekyll and Hyde personality.”

At a barbecue in the spring of 2007, Mateen erupted when his hamburger touched a piece of pork, something he considered a religious affront. He told the class he ought to kill all of them, recalled Susanne Coburn Laforest, 61, who attended the barbecue as a trainee. Mateen told his classmates not to laugh at him because this was serious and “was going to come back and shoot us,” she said.

Not long after, Mateen was sitting in his car in the parking lot as classes were about to resume, when authorities swarmed the auto and escorted him off the property. An official told cadets Mateen had threatened to bring a gun on campus, according to Clinton Custar, who was attending the academy at the time and saw the incident from a classroom window.

This was the same month Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and Mateen threatened to carry out a similar massacre at the police academy because he felt like he was being taunted for being Muslim, said a fellow cadet.

Robert Lane, a spokesman for the school, now Indian River State College, said it had no record that Mateen was involved in disciplinary actions or had interactions with campus security. Mateen was released from the academy in April 2007 when his employment with the Department of Corrections ended, he said.

How the Orlando Shooting Unfolded

ZACHARY SCHEFFER FOR THE WALL STREET JOURNAL

Mateen was hired by G4S, essentially working as a security guard. People who encountered him for a few minutes each day at various sites described him as jovial and pleasant. But in a video that surfaced this week, showing Mateen in 2010 at a gate to the BP PLC cleanup site, he again expresses grievance, albeit calmly.

Grandiose boasts about terrorist ties, when he was 26, put Mateen on the FBI’s radar. He was starting to spook co-workers at the St. Lucie County Courthouse, where he was a security guard. Colleagues reported Mateen was bragging about knowing people in al Qaeda and claiming he was a Hezbollah member. He told co-workers he knew associates of the Tsarnaev brothers, who had bombed the Boston Marathon that year, according to the complaints.

“The FBI is very eager to find out” about his motives, “even if it is a very complicated and conflicting set of motivations,” said Rep. Adam Schiff (D., Calif.), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee.

Several weeks ago, Mateen walked into Lotus Gunworks of South Florida. He acted strange, said store co-owner Robbie Abell, asking for heavy-duty body armor and bulk ammunition. He “just seemed very odd,” Mr. Abell said. The store didn’t stock body armor and refused to sell him bulk ammunition.

Mateen moved along, as he had on other occasions when he incurred suspicion or fear. He found what he was looking for somewhere else.

Homeowner on Detroit's west side shoots intruder, shares his story with 7 Action News

DETROIT (WXYZ) - It was a harrowing encounter on Detroit’s west side, when a homeowner shot the intruder who was holding him and his wife at gunpoint. It happened before 6:00 Monday night at a home off Beaverland Rd. near Eaton. Detroit police said two men ordered the homeowner and his wife into their house and then into the basement. Daniel McNamara is the homeowner. He told his incredible story only to 7 Action News.

"He kept telling us to turn around, I said 'No, I'm not going to turn around,' I said 'You've got to kill me face to face',” said McNamara. He said the suspects wanted him and his wife to turn around so they wouldn’t remember their faces. During the home invasion, the suspects took both of the McNamara’s wedding rings, her purse, cash and cell phones.

"He kept pointing the gun at my head and said, 'You don't think I'll kill you face to face?' I said 'I don't know, but you're going to have to because I'm not turning around',” said McNamara. He said he happened to have a gun stashed in the same area the suspects were holding the pair at gunpoint. "All I could think about, how can I get that gun,” said McNamara. He took his opportunity when one of the suspects said he would be right back and turned around and headed toward the stairs. "Of course I was scared, who wouldn't be? Some goon has a gun to your head and tells you he's going to shoot you because you've seen his face,” said McNamara.

He fired off two shots and hit one of the suspects once. Both of the suspect’s ran away very fast, McNamara believes there was likely a car waiting. One of the suspects turned up at the hospital and the second suspect is still on the run.

"The Lord looked out for us today,” said McNamara. Police continued to search the neighborhood for hours, but came up empty handed.

A few minutes before the services started, the townspeople were sitting in their pews and talking. Suddenly, Satan appeared at the front of the church. Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil incarnate.

Soon everyone had exited the church except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew without moving, seeming oblivious to the fact that God's ultimate enemy was in his presence.

So Satan walked up to the old man and said, "Don't you know who I am?" The man replied, "Yep, sure do."

"Aren't you afraid of me?" Satan asked.

"Nope, sure ain't," said the man.

"Don't you realize I can kill you with a word?" asked Satan.

"Don't doubt it for a minute," returned the old man, in an even tone.

"Did you know that I could cause you profound, horrifying, physical AGONY... for all eternity?" persisted Satan.

"Yep," was the calm reply.

"And you're still not afraid?" asked Satan.

"Nope."

More than a little perturbed, Satan asked, "Well, why aren't you afraid of me?"

The man calmly replied, "Been married to your sister for the last 48 years!!

Good morning, while listening to your podcast I got to hear the great news I won the book. I'm looking forward to getting to read the book. On the podcast you said you would need my address.

Troy,

I have been listening to you all for over a year.  I first heard about you through Professor Paul and Student of the Gun.  I have been on the fence about joining their “Grad Program” but have been quite apprehensive since I know they advertise they use inappropriate language.  I spent 10 years in full time Youth & Family ministry and do everything I can to shield myself and family from that type of influence.  Listening to your latest episode reinforces my decision not to spend money to be subjected to foul language.  Thanks for reminding me to stay strong and to “avoid the very appearance of evil.”

I shared your episode on both Facebook & Twitter as well as sharing a direct link with my 20-year-old son (who is itching to get his TN concealed carry permit next year).  Thanks for all you do to bring a view of the cross into the gun culture!  Yours and Doug’s efforts are not in vain and do not go unnoticed.

Have a blessed week and I can’t wait for next week's’ episode!

I'm not a listener (I don't know why) but do listen to other Firearms Radio shows so I know about you through your ads.

This last weekend, I ran across an organization that you might find interesting. They are called "Special Youth Challenge" and, from what I've found, have chapters in Nebraska, Colorado, Minnesota and Iowa.

They are a ministry that takes kids with disabilities out hunting. They purposefully team Christian and those that don't claim Christianity together. For example, if the hunter or parent of the hunter is a Christian, they will team them with a guide that does not claim Christianity.

They are sponsored by the NRA (the Nebraska group I talked to had just been given a gun safe). Their gear is a turret mounted rifle or shotgun with a scope and smart phone paired together so the the hunter and guide can both see. The trigger is electronically controlled with twin push buttons, one held by the hunter one by the guide. The gun won't fire unless both are pushed.

I'm sure they would love to do an interview to promote their cause if you were to contact one of the chapters if you've not already talked to them.

Weekly Bible Verses
My son, keep your father's commandment, and forsake not your mother's teaching. 21 Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck. 22 When you walk, they will lead you; when you lie down, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk with you. 23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, 24 to preserve you from the evil woman, from the smooth tongue of the adulteress. 25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, and do not let her capture you with her eyelashes; 26 for the price of a prostitute is only a loaf of bread, but a married woman hunts down a precious life 27 Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned? Or can one walk on hot coals and his feet not be scorched? 29 So is he who goes into his neighbor's wife; none who touches her will go unpunished. 30 People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry, 31 but if he is caught, he will pay seven-fold; he will give all the goods of his house. 32 He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself. 33 He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away. 34 For jealousy makes a man furious, and he will not spare when he takes revenge. 35 He will accept no compensation; he will refuse though you multiply gifts.

Hi Guys

I have become a recent listener to the podcast, and am now an avid listener.  On a few shows, the one with Paul Markel in particular (I believe) you mentioned getting your kids out of the public schools.  My wife and I are attending a conference in Lansing, MI put on by INCH this weekend, and are overwhelmed with the information that we are being presented.  I was wondering if you had any insight as to good christian based curriculums, and or any advice as to how to pick one out.  Thanks again for all you do, and hope you have fun at NRA this weekend. Looking forward to catching the great info on the next podcast.

Detroit man saves his wife and himself from home invaders, WXYZ, Detroit, Mich. 05/23/16

A pair of armed men forced Daniel McNamara and his wife into the basement of their Detroit, Mich. home. Recalling the incident for a local media outlet, McNamara said the home invaders “kept telling us to turn around, I said 'No, I'm not going to turn around,' I said 'You've got to kill me face to face'.” After the thieves collected several personal items from the couple, McNamara was able to retrieve a gun that he had stashed inside the home. Upon acquiring the firearm, McNamara fired at the assailants, striking one and prompting both to flee.
The wounded thief was captured as he sought medical treatment at a hospital. McNamara went on to tell a reporter, “The Lord looked out for us today.” (WXYZ, Detroit, Mich. 05/23/16)

Weekly Bible Verses
Good New Guys!
“"Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, for you will not be disgraced; for you will forget the shame of your youth, and the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more. For your Maker is your husband, the Lord of hosts is his name; and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer, the God of the whole earth he is called. For the Lord has called you like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when she is cast off, says your God. For a brief moment I deserted you, but with great compassion I will gather you. In overflowing anger for a moment I hid my face from you, but with everlasting love I will have compassion on you," says the Lord, your Redeemer. "This is like the days of Noah to me: as I swore that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you, and will not rebuke you. For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed," says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” Isaiah 54:4-10 ESV

Hunting Rifle saves Life

A Georgia man is grateful that his father kept an old hunting rifle in the home because it came in handy during a self-defense situation in January. When the man and his mother entered their Decatur, Ga., home, two criminals stormed in after them and started pistol-whipping the victims. One of the intruders pulled the man toward a bedroom where the hunting rifle was stored. Despite the fact that the victim had a gun to his head, he still grabbed the rifle and shot. He ended up shooting both intruders, one of whom died in the yard outside and the other of whom died at a medical facility. (wtvm.com, Columbus, GA, 1/19/16)

Weekly Bible Verses
“And the people complained in the hearing of the Lord about their misfortunes, and when the Lord heard it, his anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some outlying parts of the camp. Then the people cried out to Moses, and Moses prayed to the Lord, and the fire died down. So the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the Lord burned among them. Now the rabble that was among them had a strong craving. And the people of Israel also wept again and said, "Oh that we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt that cost nothing, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic. But now our strength is dried up, and there is nothing at all but this manna to look at." ‭‭Numbers‬ ‭11:1-6‬ ‭ESV

Homeowner thwarts burglary attempt, WKRG, Mobile, Ala. 05/3/16
Al Taylor was at home with his family in West Mobile, Ala. when he heard a suspicious noise in the garage. Taylor went to investigate and discovered a man attempting to steal lawn equipment. Taylor responded by retrieving a .22-caliber revolver and holding the man at gunpoint until police could arrive.

A local news story made clear that Taylor uses his lawn equipment to help people through his ministry. In recalling the incident to a local news outlet, Taylor said, “I probably would have let him go if he didn’t just stop lying and then when I saw all my stuff pulled out and he was going to steal it, it kind of made me angry.” (WKRG, Mobile, Ala. 05/3/16)

(Some warning labels sent by Jeff Bowen, Greg Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, Calif)

  • A label on a baby stroller warns: “Remove Child Before Folding.” I pity this poor kid.
  • A brass fishing lure with a three-pronged hook on the end warns: “Harmful if Swallowed.” That is especially true if you are a fish, but I assume some human decided to give it a nibble, too.
  • A warning on a flush-able toilet brush states: “Do not use for Personal Hygiene.” Now that one is just downright frightening.
  • How about this label on a bottle of drain cleaner that warns: “If you do not understand, or cannot read, all directions, cautions and warnings, do not use this product.” If you cannot read, how would you know what that warning label is saying? Perhaps a skull and cross-bones would have done the trick.
  • A cartridge for a laser printer warns, “Do not Eat Toner.” Thanks for the reminder. I was going to have some with my burrito today at lunch, but now that you’ve warned me, I’ll pass.
  • A label on a 13-inch wheel on a wheelbarrow warns: “Not Intended for Highway Use.” Did some guy actually do this? He must have been fast runner!
  • A can of self-defense pepper spray warns users: “May Irritate Eyes.” Yeah, I was kind of hoping for that, especially the eyes of the person who is attacking me!
  • A dishwasher carries this warning: “Do not allow Children to play in the Dishwasher.” This was probably written for the same person who folded their kid in the stroller!
  • A household iron warns users: “Never iron clothes while they are being worn.” OK, I’m going to confess to this one. I’ve put on a shirt, seen a wrinkle, and then ironed the wrinkled spot while wearing it. So I guess all these labels are not crazy. Or maybe they are and I am. You pick.
  • One final warning label. On the side of household knife: “Never Try to Catch a Falling Knife.” Ouch.

Following the incident, Linton told a local media outlet, “I did learn that at least now I know that I can protect us. I don't have to rely on my husband, if, when he is at work, I know I can do it. I don't have to be afraid of that anymore.” (WTOC, Savannah, Ga. 04/26/16)

Joke by Chad Matthews.

There was a new preacher who wanted to rent a house in the country. The only house available was rumored to be haunted. Since the preacher didn’t believe in such things, he rented it. It wasn’t long before the ghost made its appearance. The preacher told his friends about the ghost, but they didn’t believe him. They told him the only way they would believe was if he would take a picture of the ghost.

The preacher went home and called for the ghost. When it appeared, the preacher explained the situation and asked the ghost if it would mind having its picture taken. The ghost agreed.

When the picture was developed, the ghost wasn’t visible. Feeling very disappointed, the preacher called again for the ghost. When it appeared, the preacher showed it the picture and wanted to know why the ghost wasn’t in it.

The ghost thought a minute and replied, “Well, I guess the spirit was willing, but the flash was weak.”

Great show regarding both God and Guns. Troy and Doug both have a great knowledge of the bible as well as firearms. I love listening to their stories each week and it’s even entertaining when they get off topic. Great Show!

And Jesus answered, "O faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." 18And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. 19Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?"20He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." Matthew 17:17-20 ESV

Armed property owner helps end manhunt, WYFF, Greenville, S.C. 04/23/16
Police attempted to stop two men in a truck in Gaston, S.C., but the pair did not comply, instead leading police on a 10-mile high-speed chase. Police eventually disabled the vehicle by flattening its tires with a stop stick. With the vehicle disabled, the driver of the truck fled on foot. The driver eventually
trespassed onto private property. The owner of the property, a National Rifle Association member and Right-to-Carry permit holder, spotted the driver, drew a firearm and ordered the trespasser to get on the ground. The driver complied and the property owner held him at gunpoint until police could arrive.
Following the incident, Lexington County Sherriff’s Deputies told a local media outlet that the armed citizen helped them make the arrest. The property owner added, “I just knew I wanted to get him in a place that he couldn't run and he couldn't come at me or my wife.” (WYFF, Greenville, S.C. 04/23/16)

Store owner and friend thwart armed robbery in Cleveland, Cleveland.com, Cleveland, Ohio
MONDAY, APRIL 4, 2016 The owner of Suleyman’s Market in Cleveland, Ohio was tending to the store when a pair of masked and armed men came in and attempted to rob him. Outside the store, a man witnessed the robbery and flagged down a police car.

The owner complied with the robbers’ demands for cash, but as the pair attempted to flee the market they spotted a police officer waiting for them outside. The thieves retreated into the store, prompting the store owner’s friend to retrieve a gun and confronted the robbers. Eventually, the friend was able to detain the criminals, who were then taken into police custody. (Cleveland.com, Cleveland, Ohio, 03/31/16)

But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Luke 24:1-7 (ESV)

A Macon man was shot in the leg after police say he broke into a South Bibb home. According to a news release, it happened around 2:15 p.m. on Monday. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies say they responded to a call of a person shot at a home in the 4500 block of Jones Road. When deputies arrived they found Brandon Renfroe holding a gun at another man who was dressed in all black and lying on the ground in the backyard. The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Blake Elliot Herman, had been shot in the leg by the resident. The resident says he heard a noise coming from his sister, Jessica Renfroe’s bedroom. Herman opened the door and saw a man standing in the doorway. Renfroe says the two got into a physical altercation and Herman broke free, running out of the backdoor. Renfroe chased after him with a gun. During the chase, he claims Herman reached into his pocket. Renfroe says he feared for his life, thinking Herman had a gun so he fired twice. Herman was struck in the upper left leg. An incident report from the Sheriff’s Office says when deputies got to the home they saw Herman lying on the ground dressed in black with a grey stocking mask near his head and clear gloves on his hand. Herman allegedly told deputies he had a key to the home and that is how he got into the home. Jessica Renfroe says that she had dated Herman about two years ago, but never gave him a key. Jessica told deputies she used to work with Herman at Papa John’s Pizza and she would always leave her keys and purse in the office while she was working. According to the release, Herman told deputies he used to date the woman and that he was there to get revenge. Herman was taken to Medical Center Navicent Health for treatment for the gunshot wounds. A warrant was issued for burglary. He will be transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center once he is released from the hospital. Police are still investigating. Anyone with information can call the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751 -7500.

Hey Guys!

Thank you for all of the hard work you put into producing the show.  Keep sharing the light of Christ to this dark world. I live in Charleston, SC and attend James Island Baptist Church.  Listed below are the service times and my contact information if someone responds and is interested in visiting.  Thank you.

Also, I have been carrying in a crossbreed super tuck since 2009.  I cannot say enough good things about this holster.   Fortunately I found this holster early in my search process, and because of this, my drawer full of holsters I don't use is small.  It is by far the most comfortable concealed carry holster I have worn.

Weekly Bible Verses:
4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John to assist them. 6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain magician, a Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus. 7 He was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence, who summoned Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the magician (for that is the meaning of his name) opposed them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 But Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, "You son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, full of all deceit and villainy, will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord? 11 And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you will be blind and unable to see the sun for a time." Immediately mist and darkness fell upon him, and he went about seeking people to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had occurred, for he was astonished at the teaching of the LordActs 13:4-12 (ESV)

NRA: Why we oppose Merrick Garland’s Supreme Court nomination

Last month, Second Amendment advocates and other patriotic Americans were shocked by the news of the sudden passing of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. His death was a tragedy for our Constitution and our country. For supporters of the Second Amendment, his death could result in the end of individual gun ownership in the United States.

In 2008, the Supreme Court answered the question of whether individual citizens have a right to own a firearm in their homes for self-defense. It was Scalia who wrote the majority opinion in that caseDistrict of Columbia v. Heller. That landmark decision made clear that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms. Shockingly, the decision was only 5 to 4. Two years later, in McDonald v. ChicagoScalia joined Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr.’s opinion holding that that individual right is fundamental and applies to all Americans regardless of where they live. Once again, the decision was 5 to 4.

With Scalia’s tragic passing, there is no longer a majority of support for Heller and McDonald among the justices. Four justices believe law-abiding Americans have the right to own a gun for self-defense, including handguns. Four justices do not. The math is simple — and frightening. So it’s no exaggeration to say that the future of gun ownership hangs in the balance. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, for example, was unequivocal in a speech to the Harvard Club in the District, saying that she looked forward to a day when a future court overturns Heller. The men and women of the National Rifle Association will not sit idly by and watch that happen.

The truth is that President Obama has lost all trust and credibility when it comes to law-abiding gun owners. During his two presidential campaigns, Obama repeatedly paid lip service to gun owners. But during his presidency, he has made his contempt for the Second Amendment unmistakably clear. When Congress refused to pass his gun-control proposals, he said they behaved shamefully and pledged to act without them. In addition, he has called his inability to enact nationwide gun control the biggest frustration of his presidency. Perhaps most revealing of his true intentions, Obama praised the gun confiscation policies of Great Britain and Australia — policies that forced their citizens to surrender lawfully owned firearms to the government for destruction, on pain of imprisonment if they refused.

Obama has already nominated two Supreme Court justices who oppose our fundamental individual right to own firearms safely and responsibly. The NRA knows better than to expect anything different with his third choice. On Wednesday, he nominated Judge Merrick Garland, a member of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, to replace Scalia on the Supreme Court. From upholding a federal registry of law-abiding gun owners derived from the instant-background-check system created by the Brady Bill to siding with the District government by voting for a do-over in a Second Amendment decision that invalidated the D.C. handgun ban — exactly what the Supreme Court rightfully struck down in Heller — Garland has proved, the NRA believes, he does not support the Second Amendment.

If Garland joins Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan on the court, we believe they will overturn Heller and McDonald at the first opportunity. While claiming to support Heller during her Senate confirmation hearings, Sotomayor wasted no time in trying to overturn that historic decision. Kagan spent her time in the Clinton White House pushing for gun control. Breyer has made his opposition to Heller and McDonald abundantly clear through his dissents in those cases. And as mentioned previously, Ginsburg publicly spoke about her desire for a future court to overturn Heller.

Make no mistake about it: We believe this would mean the end of the fundamental, individual right of law-abiding Americans to own firearms for self-defense in their homes.

The overwhelming majority of Americans support their right to own a firearm for self-defense. Therefore, the NRA strongly opposes the nomination of Garland to the Supreme Court. Nothing less than the future of our Second Amendment freedom is at stake.

Hatchet-wielding man killed by customer at 7-Eleven
SEATTLE - King County Sheriff's investigators say a man with a hatchet was killed after he tried to attack a 7-Eleven store clerk Sunday morning in White Center.
They say a customer was sitting inside the store drinking coffee around 5:45 a.m. when a man wearing a mask entered the store located near South 110th Avenue and 8th Avenue South.
The man began swinging a hatchet at both the customer and the store clerk, then attacked the clerk.
"We don't know if the intent was to commit a robbery because the suspect didn't say anything," said King County Sheriff Sergeant Cindi West.
The customer pulled out his own gun and shot the man. The man died at the scene.
The store clerk suffered a minor injury to his stomach during the attack but, the owner says he's doing OK.
Detectives say the customer does have a permit to carry a concealed handgun.
"We believe had this Good Samaritan not acted, we might have a dead clerk on our hands right now," West said.
The case will be forwarded to the King County prosecutor's office to determine if any charges will be filed.
The man shot has since been identified by the King County Medical Examiner as 43-year-old Steven Blacktongue.

Hello Troy,
I guess I could call myself a long time listener.   One of my hobbies is running and I love to listen to your podcast if I find myself running on the treadmill.
I think you have been mentioning that you are working on a protection policy for your church.   I find myself in a similar position presenting an outline and an initial draft of a policy to the Deacons in the near future.
Have you run across any especially good resources for this that you could recommend.   I'm working my way through A Time to Kill which has really had an influence on my thinking.   However, I would love to see any examples or best practices that you have run into that you may be able to share.
Obviously churches don't leave their protection policies on the internet so it is actually kind of challenging to find a lot of practical information.
Thanks for anything you may be able to offer. Scott Gobrogge

Hey Troy,
Love your show!

Just thought I'd comment about the "sniper rifle" request your nephew I believe you said, made. First of all, I agree that he should get comfortable with what you have first and then begin to build up his own collection, but here is an idea. I'd prefer to build off a varmint platform with a .308 caliber which is a perfect longer range option for any purpose, especially hunting, and it will go out to 1,000 yards or so. Here's my very affordable wishlist in a "longer" range platform. All told $770.00 without ammo. Good starter package, and then you can add the higher grade optics and triggers and such later. This is literally on my wish list from Sportsmansguide.com.

Weekly Bible Verses:
21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 And when he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, of whom he testified and said, ‘I have found in David the son of Jesse a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ 23 Of this man’s offspring God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised. Acts 13:21-23(ESV)

Senior Right-to-Carry permit holder shoots two attackers, WPVI, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/03/2016

A 65-year-old resident and his wife were walking home from their business in Philadelphia, Pa. when a pair of men attacked them. The resident, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded to the attack by drawing a .45-caliber handgun and firing at the assailants, striking them both and causing them to halt their attack. Police caught up with the attackers a short time later and transported them to the hospital.

The armed citizen did suffer injuries during the incident, with his attorney telling a local media outlet, “This was a matter of life or death. If he didn't do what he did, and he didn't have the training to do it. I think we would be at a funeral right now. It's that bad.” (WPVI, Philadelphia, Pa. 03/03/2016) https://www.nraila.org/articles/20160304/senior-right-to-carry-permit-holder-shoots-two-attackers-wpvi-philadelphia-pa-03032016
